The show trudged along for a while afterward while Ellen became the unfunniest person alive being angry in every episode instead of being funny. Sorry, it sucks that she got crap for coming out, but the show was killed by her lack of humor. Nobody wanted to watch it anymore. I fully supported her, but her performance was so angry and bitter and it was hard to watch.
I remember that. It started being less about being funny as it was about talking about her sexuality. I watched the show and liked everyone on it. They were a good cast.

If she had said that she was banned from show business, that WOULD have been a silly thing to say under the circumstances of a comedy special.

No one seems to mention the countless children she's had on her show and you can physically see how uncomfortable she made them. Making fun of them, making jokes they don't understand and watching the whole audience laugh with glee as the child stands there confused and upset, the exploitation. Just the sheer fear in some of the children's faces that you can tell don't want to be there and in the abrupt nature of entertainment tv is what made me start hating Ellen. After that it was a slow realisation that she really is awful.

All I needed to know about Ellen was when all this came out, NOT ONE person on the show defended her. They either said nothing or were clearly under an NDA and kept very vague. Producers, writers, even guests, everyone kept quiet. When there's no one to defend you, maybe there's a reason. Maybe you really are the problem.
I don't trust anyone who makes being a good person their whole personality. Again and again masks fall and you see the real people behind it. I watched her as a teen but it didn't take long until I understood what she was doing and then I stopped watching her.
Just a body language observation, when she said "I'm so sorry to everyone that was affected" she was simultaneously shaking her head, meaning she doesn't believe what she's saying. A clear sign she's lying.
