My nana had one like this 98 yellow stick shift this is the wrong color but it brings be back keep up the good work I smile every time I see one of the things I always used to say I wanna go for a ride in the yellow truck. 2 buckets no airbags 2 weel drive
I had a 95 Splash, loved it. That axel is no big deal to pull and replace. It doesn’t need an entire rear end. Pull the pumpkin cover, remove the clip that holds the gear side of the axel in place and it will come right out.
There's a key saver stuck on the side of the chassis rail under there so it's probably even got spare keys. Being as Ford seat materials weren't of the greatest quality in the '90s it wouldn't surprise me if it actually is 66000 miles, especially being as the numbers on the odometer line up well, which they often don't do if it's gone round. 4.0 for good power and a 5-speed, that should make some pretty economical and unusual wheels for someone...
The splash came with color matched bumpers and grille, as well as those quarter panels moldings above the turn signal; so, that chromed trim obviously came from another truck, a regular Ranger, not a splash. But that grille is from a 1995 to 1997 Ranger, 93 and 94 Rangers came with a different grille; those had 2 vertical separators and well as a more square look (not so rounded). That grille is from a 95 to 97 Ranger. Love your videos man, keep updating and if you do have a 96 Ranger please give it a shot!!!!
I owned one of these right after high school. The old 4.0 push rod engine with the 5-speed on the 2 wheel drive splash were a burn out king. The beds were fiberglass and it would burn the tires for days. If you got traction, they were a fast little truck!!
Don't see a lot of those Rangers around here either. I saw a red extend cab once, with yellow striping. Had those wheels on it, except they were chrome. People just drove 'em and drove 'em. Kinda like those old S-10s. That's why you don't see a lot of them on the road anymore. Nice little truck!
I had a 1993 Ranger Splash exactly like this! It was really sweet! Ended up lowering it a little and looked rrslly good. With the fiberglass bed, 5speed and 4.0L it was quicker than my 1997 S10 with a H.O 4.3L 5speed and 3.73 gears. They go for about $1500-3000
Owner of this truck today. Runs great. But I am buying an enclosed cargo trailer to convert to a tiny home and wonder if this engine will pull it well and last. But I love that it starts everytime and has had few issues.
Nice little truck. I had an 87 Ford Ranger. It only had the 4 cylinder fuel injection motor in it with a 5 speed trans. It ran great. Got excellent fuel mileage. I lowered it, had nice wheels and wide tires, put bucket seats in it. I sure do miss that little truck. I sold it because I had to many "toys" at that time. That Ranger splash would be awesome fixed up. Fast AND great fuel mileage. The best of both.
those little five speeds have a nice little pep, my best friend's mother had one from late 80s. Here in the Southwest vehicles like this one could basically be on the road for decades as long as the drive train engine holds up or replaced
Yes me a black one with orange stripes 4.0L it was awesome, stolen from work at 2:30 in the afternoon😢 that one has been painted it's missing the splash decals and those are not splash rims unless it was ordered with steel rims.
Fed Rooster They might actually be Ford had 2 different decal packages for the Splash 1 was fairly plain and the other like I had was very bright and large.
@jay smart. How often do you guys come across a dakota with a stick shift and clean body. Im looking for one that has a bad motor preferably 4x4 with a stick shift. Something that doesnt have that stupid 4.7 motor.
My first new vehicle was a 95 Ranger Splash 4 liter 5 speed truck. They'd definitely get out of their own way, especially when you ditch the 3.27 ring & pinion for a lsd and 3.73. Loved that little truck, it's a shame you can't get trucks that small anymore. By the by, those wheels are stock. Under that dirt, there's some chrome. The pinstripes aren't stock, it had some gloriously 90s red and orange splashy graphics on it from the factory.
What a great find Jay. I haven't seen a Ford Ranger Splash since the 90's. In Norway they where popular in yellow color. The 4.0 V6 is pretty much bulletproof engine. I hope someone will save it. Great video. 👍😊
We still have our 1993 Ranger Splash. Looks just like that one from the outside, and white. The wheels are stock as ours has the same style. Ours is super basic nothing options has the 4.0Ltr V-6 w/104,000 miles! BUT, the underside is trashed. Lived in rust belt.
Thought I spied a Rangers Splash on the way home today. Turned out to be a newer Ranger Edge. I think that took the place of the Splash. Looked similar. That thing should be a tire burner with the 4.0 and a 5 speed. Maybe that’s what blew out the rear end. Interior looks mint!
The turn signal trim would have been matching to the grill originally. And the steallies are factory for the Splash. Iv always loved the Ranger Splash..Very neat little trucks. Theres still a few around here where i live in Indiana. Although they are all beat to hell.
is the side sill crushed under the driver door? it seems to be in conjunction with the torn up fiberglass on the lower part of the bed and the broken axle...
My elderly neighbor has a splash looks and runs great. I hope i get it when he gets rid of it. I have a 96 ranger 3.0 auto ex cab great truck but i like his better
I saw one for sale last year owner was asking $5500 cert and e-tested I almost bought it but I ended up grabbing a Yukon instead needed the room for the kids and the V8 to tow my boat. Honestly if that little Splash is a runner swap a rear end in it it's worth the time and effort people hunt for these trucks, right after mine was stolen I looked for over a year trying to find another and couldn't. Hell buy it yourself if you can clean it up fix the ass end and you'll have a good flip no joke.
I'm not Jay but I wouldn't have one of those pieces of over rated garbage on a bet! Too much plastic, more like a rolling gaming casino than a real truck (you almost need an Airbus pilot's licence to drive one) and almost as big as an F150! Ford really stepped in a huge pile of crap with this idea. Should have stayed with the original. You rarely see one in a used car lot and most are still doing what they were built to do....work!
I love watchin your videos jay, one day i hope workin for a junk yard or metal resicaling place like you but all the jobs there are taken up at the moment
This video made me appreciate my '05 Ranger that I have to this day. I was planning on trading it years ago but its so reliable that its a waste of money to do so.
Nice truck interior is pretty cool for that truck! Still like ur ranger better! U will have to get that hide a key off the frame rail when u where panning under to show the underneath! Keep up the great vids!
Dear jay smart, I myself own a classic ford ranger push rod 4.0. And manual 5spd. I don’t believe the battery was too dead to crank it. I believe you need to push in the clutch because ford added that as a safety thing to not turn over unless the clutch was pushed in.
Shaun Murphy before I made the video i attempted to start it , if you watch when I turn the key on none of the gauges move, no lights come on , and the dinging is very weak. The battery was dead.
The sohc motor is just as good as a push rod 4.0 long as the tensioners get replaced. Hell mines a 2002 the worst year of Guide failure, just passed 150k on it. Still has the original guides in the motor.
This truck is now in Greenville Transmission Clinic, July 1, 2022, still on 15th. After the clutch linkage or something failed on White Horse Rd. at rush hour... A Kia with a chain saved me then.. Please pray for her and the cost.
It looks like all you really need is a new axle as opposed to a complete rear end. I'm guessing when it was stolen, it was crashed and the missing fiberglass and broken axle occured at the same time.
The Ford truck? I'm assuming you think it's the F250 from the pressure washing video? If so, don't worry man, that's a different truck. If you look closely, you'll see that it has a service box on it.
Nothing happened when the key was switched to the on position. No lights, no gauges, nothing. Also we attempted before the video was filmed. I know when I said it had a dead battery... that I meant It had a dead battery
I didn't know you tried before the video. all i know is in the video you turned the key and then didn't have the clutch pushed in. Did you see what that kind of truck goes for in my area? one with 134k miles is for sale for 5,500 but it looks much cleaner without any dents or damage to the bed.
Those Wheels were quite desirable 18 years ago I had a 93 Ford Ranger that was in perfect condition and I paid about $600 for a set of Splash chrome wheels to put on my 93 that wasn't a splash
That is a very rare Ford Ranger With all power options. Most of these were stripped with 5 speed no PS/PB No A/C and vinyl seats and yes ford still used an electronic AM radio only in 1994 I know I have seen one and I forgot the 2.3L I-4
Hey Jay, I was wondering if you could give me some advice on my truck? I have a 1993 GMC Sonoma that has a 5 speed manual transmission in it. It calls for ATF for the transmission but, would it mess up my transmission if I used a 75w-80 gear oil in it? I'd appreciate the advise and keep up the great work! Thanks, Matthew B.
Jay PLEASE save that 94’ Ranger!! And please tell me that’s not the Orange F-150 that you had been pressure washing some videos ago in the background!!
1994. I'm constantly amazed at the virtually rust free bodies of the south.
Because the lucky bastards down there don't get much snow.
Yep, hate seeing fiberglass get all rusty...
uhrsker >:D
I don’t understand how they don’t rust
Gotta find the sweet spot. Too far south and you gotta worry about the beaches.
Even came with a hide a key I saw along the frame , cool truck.
i want to see you put a rear end in that truck and put the wheel on and make a recovery video of the paint and the truck all fixed up.
V ^
I will make a video.
Gonna be a real valuable truck someday
Where i live in Canada i've seen Rangers for sale for close to 12 grand for a nice one , and they weren't just the newest models either .
The hide a key...check it out
I noticed that too and haven't seen one of those for decades now.
My nana had one like this 98 yellow stick shift this is the wrong color but it brings be back keep up the good work I smile every time I see one of the things I always used to say I wanna go for a ride in the yellow truck. 2 buckets no airbags 2 weel drive

c clips and a drum U in bizness

I just bought a used 93 Ranger splash from a dealer, no rust, some scratches 4.0 ,Runs good. I had a 99 used Ranger, 4 cylinder, no problem with it.
My dad still has his 1994 splash ranger extended cab 4.0 in blue but from the sun the decals turned pink. Keep up the good videos.
The splash came with color matched bumpers and grille, as well as those quarter panels moldings above the turn signal; so, that chromed trim obviously came from another truck, a regular Ranger, not a splash.

Matias Fernandes awesome information thanks man
@@wyattklingensmith8862 BAYWATCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! watch the orig series that's all they ran
Glad to see someone who knows what they’re talking about in these comments
I really liked the 93-94 rangers, With the 4x4 engraved onto the grille on the upper trim rangers.
I owned one of these right after high school.
The old 4.0 push rod engine with the 5-speed on the 2 wheel drive splash were a burn out king. The beds were fiberglass and it would burn the tires for days. If you got traction, they were a fast little truck!!

Derek Joon are you in the Ford Ranger Nation Facebook page? I swear I saw a comment just like this in there
DannytheDeereNut Yes I was, I left the page a few months ago was getting way to many notifications

Those pinstripes aren’t Splash either.
Fed Rooster They might actually be Ford had 2 different decal packages for the Splash 1 was fairly plain and the other like I had was very bright and large.
Very nice little truck!

That's a pretty sweet ride.In Michigan,if the rust didn't get them,then it just wasn't driven.

Great video. 👍😊
It will be saved I know! ( think its coming home with us lol ) but thats awesome to know you guys got these great little trucks
Jay Smart Cool. 👍😊
I almost got inspired to come down there and snag this fine machine except I just picked up a 99 Mountaineer.

Love the ranger I drive a 1999 3.0 xlt with 115,500 miles it's a great truck never lets me down
I love the door chime sound and that 94 Ford steering wheel

Nice truck, love it. Beside the flareside bed.
As a northerner that rust free frame is a pleasing site, these earlier rangers are nonexistent here
test
What’s going on with the 2nd gen ram in the back there ?
Well worth the time and money to clean up, fix up and drive!
Thats what we did !
I’d replace the rear axle and then it’s good to go
WITH A NEW REAR AND A GOOD CLEANING SHE WILL LOOK BRAN NEW
TURN OFF YOUR CAPS LOCK
Rangers good truck I think had good luck with them!!
The turn signal trim would have been matching to the grill originally. And the steallies are factory for the Splash. Iv always loved the Ranger Splash..Very neat little trucks.

Supposed to all be body colored.
What’s in the hide a key box??
Cool truck, that should still be runnin for many more years, Save it!
Had a 2.3 liter splash in light blue. Cool little truck but super slow, highway use was painful lol
is the side sill crushed under the driver door? it seems to be in conjunction with the torn up fiberglass on the lower part of the bed and the broken axle...

Save that truck!! 4.0 with a 5 speed hell yeah! Full power with AC. Nice little truck. Please save it Jay
Jay, what are your thoughts on the 2019 Ford Ranger?

My 4.0 Ranger is a 2010, so I guess it's supposed to be the bad one. IDK. 150k and running like a top.
Its all in opinion I guess. A good running sohc 4.0 is rare around here and worth a fortune. Because none of us scrapyards have any good ones lol
Why doesn't it have the Splash grill? Also the Splash didn't have chrome on anything but the wheels.
This truck is now in Greenville Transmission Clinic, July 1, 2022, still on 15th. After the clutch linkage or something failed on White Horse Rd. at rush hour... A Kia with a chain saved me then.. Please pray for her and the cost.
I run a shop not too far from you, if they cant fix it have it towed to me. I actually had that happen many times with this truck!
Perfect candidate for a small block 💪💪💪💪
Did you see under the driver side of the truck and was a key box check and see if there's a key inside it for the truck
So is this truck for sale as is? where are you located I currently own two splash trucks.
Glad to see you're fixing this one up. I like the stuff you posted and for me the weirder the better :-)
I hade a 93 spash when it was new I loved that truck
My dad had a Ranger like this and it was a 2WD he said he went everywhere his friends went in 4WD. Said it was slow but he got there.
Sounds like your dad knew how to off road and his friends didn't
Good to hear you're saving that car
You don't see many of those anymore. I didn't realize those trucks were loaded.
It has the spare key holder on the driver's side frame.
It looks like all you really need is a new axle as opposed to a complete rear end. I'm guessing when it was stolen, it was crashed and the missing fiberglass and broken axle occured at the same time.
I used that middle console in my 08crown vic. Worked good
You should add it to your ranger collection. I have a couple of them running around here by me.
I have a 91 4.0 v6 ranger, great truck.
I need a dash surround for my 94 Ranger , got one laying around ??
Jay sir,
I heard you singing in one of your videos, Good stuff.
2:24. Just took a peak back there in the background. And it doesn't look good. :(
Nathan Kim suppose that's that county F150 from a couple of videos ago?
The Ford truck? I'm assuming you think it's the F250 from the pressure washing video? If so, don't worry man, that's a different truck. If you look closely, you'll see that it has a service box on it.
This guy paid attention^
TheGuyAtTheWheel Oh I see it at 3:37
Thanks for putting my mind at ease. Kinda want to see the 250 brought back to driving condition.
What happened to the Orange Ford truck???
Did you keep the splash I have a 97 and a 94 I would be interested in it
what happened to the 05 galant? im assuming u crushed it
My mom had one of those Galants when i was young. I thought it was so cool because the back kinda looked like a BMW...lol
looks like it just needs a left rear axle , bearings, seal, fluid and brakes. not bad
these seats also have slide out leg rests as well
I had a 93 with red interior for my first truck. I regret selling it almost everyday and I’m 29 now
166k odd I have seen 275k+ my 05 3.0 Xlt 60k now got it at 24.5k still good
I love those little pickup trucks I have one
It's a 5 speed you have to press the clutch in for it to try and start.
Did you see what that kind of truck goes for in my area? one with 134k miles is for sale for 5,500 but it looks much cleaner without any dents or damage to the bed.
did you see the extra key box on the frame
I like these little trucks. Glad she's saveable (:
Those Wheels were quite desirable 18 years ago I had a 93 Ford Ranger that was in perfect condition and I paid about $600 for a set of Splash chrome wheels to put on my 93 that wasn't a splash

Where I'm at. They are very rare. I haven't seen one in a very long time.
Never heard of a splash before i watched this video
The first time I saw the Ranger Splash was on the tv series Baywatch , yellow lifeguard truck
@@fierousa4387 who? oh yeah PAM ANDERSEN
Nice looking truck.
Thanks,
Matthew B.
Hey, I am looking for a 4 door truck or suv 4x4 for mudding would you have any ideas or recommendations in missouri or near Illinois?
Is/was the ford ranger parted out or sold as a whole truck put out front or for sale
Sweet lil truck can you ship it to Canada 🇨🇦
Hey Jay, Do you still have this truck or is it sold? Always wanted a small truck
Nice truck .
Wolkvagen bettle?
do you sell parts off the vehicles? my 96 ranger needs some parts
Love that 5 speed with 4.0 I bet she shits and gits!!! Nice find. Fix it dont crush it!!!
When are u doing a video on the red Ranger that was restored?!?!
The splash grill was color matched to the truck. Owner must have changed the signal lights.
Jay PLEASE save that 94’ Ranger!! And please tell me that’s not the Orange F-150 that you had been pressure washing some videos ago in the background!!
It deserves to live again I live right person to do it in my opinion my friend love you video.
Jay, I need the headliner, front bumper and grille
No parts. Truck is for sale as one piece.
Jay Smart I am looking for those parts for my 94 Ranger. If you have any or know somebody that may have some parts hook me up.
That's an easy fix and worth making a video of the process!
