    Use combination square to mark the holes by lets say inch and a half holes.. set your square to inch and a half .. real easy, instead of finding the centers

    • @TheMetalFabGuy
      @TheMetalFabGuy  3 года назад +1

      Thanks for watching Gurpiar. Any UB or UC including a UB 254x146x37 can have an end plate. What that end plate is doing would need to be calculated by a structural engineer.
      Thickness / Bolt size / number of bolts / weld spec So it’s capable of performing its intended job.

    • @TheMetalFabGuy
      @TheMetalFabGuy  Год назад +3

      The point of the inverted ‘V’ being the accuracy of your mark. Each to their own. But if you’re Referring to a single line mark as a viable option then personally I tend to not be 100% sure of where the exact mark is I need when I’ve gone back to it.
      You can also ‘correct’ your first mark of the v with the second mark, if its slightly out.
      Thanks for watching.

      @@1700iDiGuy If that is the case, then it is out of speck. Check the MSDS. If you are setting a head or base plate or a gusset plate ALWAYS take your measurements from the center of the web. Work off of the center of the WEB. Never the flange.

    • @SouleymaneG
      @SouleymaneG 3 года назад +6

      You always work off the flange to center a plate because the majority of the time, beams aren't properly formed. You'll have twisted webs and flanges that are big or small on either side. During assembly the web is irrelevant, you'll always work off the flange. Especially when there are holes drilled in the beam.

    • @seanhannan1823

      @@SouleymaneG exactly, the flange can be different sizes and usually aren't parallel. The web isn't irrelevant. Tie beams and bracers all come from the web so your base plate should come from the web.
