Great video! I've lived in Avon Lake my entire life and I feel like living in a place since you were born makes you underappreciate it more, but this really made me realize how nice Avon Lake really is!
I think you should've mentioned Kopf Reservation as well. It's a massive bike and walking trail that stretches across the entire center of the city. My dad and I love going on bike rides through Kopf in the summer and fall. It takes you to The Landings, the high school, the library, and numerous parks and neighborhoods all on one trail. If someone were to move to Avon Lake it's definitely one of the best parts of the city considering how peaceful it is. It's also entirely surrounded by woods and has a creek in it. There are also bike trails in a lot of the neighborhoods too.
However, one thing I've always hated about Avon Lake is the fact that the physical quality of the schools here is quite poor. Especially Learwood Middle School. I remember my 7th grade year that my teacher's classroom had a massive leak the entire year. He didn't mind though, and neither did us as students, so he just kept trash cans wherever it was leaking. Although, it did drip on my classmate's head one time and she freaked out. There was also a rat infestation the same year. There are loose ceiling tiles, cracks, leaks, rats, and bugs as well. On top of that, it doesn't have any air conditioning. In fact, none of the elementary schools have air conditioning either. It's only in certain rooms like the library, art room, and front office. Due to there being no AC, students have passed out due to the heat in late August and early September, so I'm glad they're planning to add AC to the new buildings. The quality of Learwood is just horrible, by far the worst out of all the schools, so I really do hope that the bill to build new schools in Avon Lake passes, we could really use it.
Aside from that Avon Lake is a lovely city. You get used to the weather and the seasons here are beautiful. In the spring, all the trees are blossoming with white flowers. Considering how many trees there are it really is a sight to see. It usually remains cold until early June though, due to the lake still being cold from winter and blowing that cool air towards the city. In summer, all the trees are bright greens and the temperature is usually mild, most of the time the mid 70s, and the hottest it gets is usually low 90s. Fall is the prettiest season, when all of the trees are changing colors it really is beautiful. It usually stays warm, at least the mid 60s, until early November which is when it really starts to cool off for winter. This is caused by the lake blowing warm air towards the city. Finally, winter. It gets very cold here in the winter time, and it's usually pretty snowy. Expect a white Christmas most years. We often get days off of school due to the cold temperatures in January and February. The winter months do feel very long and cold though, so they're usually the least fun. However, the citizens here love to decorate for the holidays. Most people string up Christmas lights and inflate giant snowmen during Christmas, and the fall decorations are adorable, including pumpkins and more inflatables. A favorite fall activity is Boo by the Woods, which is essentially a haunted house in the Kopf Reservation Library Trail beside the Avon Lake Public Library. They also recently introduced a haunted house that takes place in the basement of the library. Seriously, it's terrifying.
Anyway, now that I've finished my rant, Avon Lake really is lovely. I've lived here since I was born and it was a great place to grow up. Although, I've always liked the idea of adding some mountains in the background of the city north of the lake. If only that was possible...
