For a few moments I had my own time machine thanks to your wonderful film clip......back with all the long gone relatives and friends I desperately miss this time of year ....well all thru the years really.....at almost 72, I think constantly how fast our lives travel......you really don't know what you have got...till its gone......
What wonderful memories.....When times were so simple.....We might not have had much back then, but we truly appreciated everyone and everything we had.....
I was just a little girl. Those were the best days when there weren't cell phones and flat screen TVs. Little girls wore dresses and patent leather shoes. And mothers were aprons. And people communicated and they will polite. And the phone hanging on the wall never knew who was ringing it you just picked it up and answered. Now people will barely answer the phone for you. Where did those sweet days go? Just a lot of memories. Nice video
Going down memory lane is so bittersweet! I miss my parents my grandparents and other family members who have passed away. Just to go back and visit for a while but then again I guess I would never want to leave.
You mean, what a nightmare. But we the people have the power to make it simple and caring again--high technology notwithstanding. Remember some of those people survived the Great Depression and World War II--two horrible events which were unlike anything which came before or after.
I was thinking the other day about our WW11 veterans. They were my father and your father. My grandfather who was a WW1 vet. Now most of the greatest generation ever have passed on, along with some of the greatest variety shows and actors of the day. I like to see myself as part of their generation. It gives me some inner peace. Merry Christmas one and all !
Somebody needed to go outside and spin the antenna for the TV. Ahhhh the good ol days...It was spin the antenna or adjust the foil in the rabbit ears. lol I was 14 that year. Only had one grandparent then. Gramma just across the road. I was a lucky lucky girl to have grown up next to gramma'. Still miss her today and she's been gone for 45 yrs.
The year I was born and when life was much simpler and everyone was much friendlier. When people talked to each other face to face with no damn Facebook or Twitter ☺️
@@mrs.z4370 I was 8 months old, when families lived close enough to all get together, knew everyone in my Nan's round all round the block back to our house, I use to wave at my Grandad every morning from our back garden when he was seeing to his chickens ha ha ha ha
I love it..the little girl in the red dress is so darling,,,she's so happy dancing around,,,and the dog is cute..,,I loved this so much thank you,, I think seeing the grandmas in the kitchen and the family enjoying themselves...i miss those days
I would have been 10 months old to the day. Growing up in the 60s and 70s was so much different than growing up today is. I called my friends parents by Mr. and Mrs. We knew all the neighbors and it was an unwritten courtesy to watch out for your neighbors kids when they were outside. If there was any possible way, I would definitely take that time machine and go back there!
I was about this little girl’s, in red dress, age in 1963. Christmas was so magical and fun. People had less, but we enjoyed the blessing of the season. Be well all and remember to enjoy the simple things in life like family and friends whenever possible.
I was born in 1960. I would have been just 3 like the little girl looks here. Reminds me of Wonderful Christmas Eves at my grandma’s. Except I had 2 older sisters. And of course aunts uncles and cousins would be there too.
@@anonymouse0221 - Yes, the Cold War overshadowed things. I have seen some home movies of Christmas 1962 & everyone looks so happy - I can understand the relief they had of the Cuban Missile Crisis being peacefully resolved!
Thats funny, when I was little we had a silver tree with the wheel. I loved to sit in the dark and sing Christmas songs and watch the tree change colors. Yes my friend those were definitely the good old days.
The year i was born i now 59 the good old days were the best we had some great Christmas's as a family never had much but we appreciated what we got not like nowadays world full of greed
I was born in 1970, and these videos remind me of the times I had with my family when I was younger.. The Granny looks a lot like my Granny Ada.. We no longer get together, all of my Grandparents are gone 💔 and now there are no more family time's during Christmas... Thank you for sharing the videos.. They bring back great memories.. 😊
A much more simple time in life when family’s enjoyed getting together for the holidays, Lord knows l tried to but after COVID it went to 0 ,other members made it hard to gather for Christmas 🎄
I was 16 in 1963 and I still remember the great Christmases my parents gave me and they weren't well off my mum would join Christmas clubs in June to pay for it and now we have covid oh for those happy simpler times
this was absolutely beautiful .. thankyou.. not only was the moment caught but also the history ... most christmas family moments seemed stage now or they are putting on a show... this was real christmas
This video made me think of my Aunt Margie , And my Cousin Rosie immediately . I was also born in 63 . The times still represent God and people do and see things differently .
My family and l still love putting up the every Thanksgiving day and then trim it out with in a few days and it doesn’t come down till the end of January
My first reaction was how crowded with people this small house was! I was 13 in 1963, lived in San Francisco, and we usually went to my aunt and uncle's house for the holidays. My aunt wasn't a very good cook, but she was better than her sister, my mother. They lived in Pacifica, in a nice house, and were the rich ones in the family.
My mom was 3 months pregnant with me I was born 6-24-64 so I was only 6 months old my first Christmas but everyone said I had a blast and it is my favorite holiday I like Halloween too
Ah, 1963, This was a very exciting Christmas, and soon after , we had the deep snow drifts which closed roads, streets rail lines.schools, works etc. But it was great fun for us youngsters.
Nice video. That little girl in the red dress looks like me then. I would have been 2 and a half. There are lots of pictures and film of me dressed like this. I even had blonde hair.
Christmas came, families celebrated, gifts were exchanged, but the nation was still reeling from the assassination of President Kennedy only a month prior. Little did we know our country would never be quite the same again.
Who ever filmed this was upper middle classed because color cameras and film and developing were expensive in them days. Nothing at all wrong with it I'm only making a observation.
My 3 great aunts never married. One was a nurse, a factory worker, and a secretary. They were frugal. My one aunt, Freeda made her own clothes. My aunt Donna loved photography and also had a beauticians license. They were always busy. But the holidays were special. The homemade food was wonderful.

This shows the strength people had when they had a nice Christmas even though their President Kennedy got gunned down like a wild animal a month earlier!

I'm the same 😀
Same for me,I was six months old for Christmas 1963, sixties and seventies christmases were so much better.
Same. I was nearly 3 y/o and would love to go back and stay!
Dressing up in our best to go to Christmas Mass and singing Christmas carols I remember the gatherings and the food. Oh so delicious😘
Yes and Christmas Cards we’re so exciting to do and receive
It makes me so sad to realize that these simple times are gone forever as are most of the people in this film. What a different world.
❤

Those definatly were the best christmases when things were more simple ,bring back those days
Yeah, like nearly dying from nuclear war and a simple presidential assassination.
Yeah! Bring it back!

' Oh what a night...late December back in '63.'

I like when Dad stops decorating the tree to try to stop the flashing on the t.v. screen. Didn’t have cable then. I was born in 1963 as well 👍
The Family Unit. It's the true strength of a nation and it's what makes America strong. Keep your loved ones close, as in this film.
That was beautiful! Love the nostalgic TV set, dial phone on the wall, etc! Thank you so much for sharing!
