  • I rebuild the bucket tilt cylinder packing on my 1995 753 Bobcat skidsteer. The kit for this machine is PN 7135551. Be sure to check your Serial Number to be sure it is the right part for your machine.
I do this without removing any hoses since they are usually not easy to access. Unfortunately, I also make a mess in the process.

Just purchased my Bobcat 753 (10/21/23) needing to learn a bit more about this equipment. Well, you and others on youtube are doing a fantastic job. I am learning!

Thanks for watching and for the comment. I need to do the lift cylinders soon so I'll try to be sure and film that as well.

Thanks for your time, and efforts in making a great video. My son just blew the seal in my 751 tilt cylinder. Your method will definitely speed up the repairs. Was planning on pulling the cylinder then doing the rebuild, this is so much simpler.

Glad it was helpful. Remember to plan for that gush of fluid when you pull the rod out. Good luck and let me know how it goes.

So much easier; then taking it off; million dollar video. I used a oven, heated up to 375 for that one strap and I was able to muscle it!!! S130 Bobcat

Great video, very informative and a lot easier than taking hoses off and removing the cylinder. Glad I seen you do this before I repack mine on a '99 * 863

Hi Jim. Glad this helped. I started doing this with some excavator cylinders I rebuilt. I rebuilt the boom cylinder on my 1960 JD 440 backhoe and had to put the rod back in the machine to hold it and put the breaker bar on it. Turns out the machines are the best way to hold the cylinders and rods. Thanks for watching and really appreciate the comment. Good luck with your repair.

I rebuilt mine because was leaking out the rod but now don’t leak anymore but drifts off real bad so assume I’ll have to pull back off n check piston seal

My seal wouldn’t hardly shrink back to size…no way it was going to go into the cylinder. Local hydraulic shop suggested using a piston ring clamp, or hose clamp to compress it back down to size. Just be sure the hose clamps notches don’t mess up the seal.

Yeah. When they are out of shape it gets hard to avoid catching the edge of the tube when inserting it back. Thanks for the suggestion and for watching.

Hi great vid. After you reinstall the ram with new seals how did you purge all the air out of the system ?

Hi Kelly. I just cycled the cylinder and it pushed the air out. Thanks for watching.

Good Video. I am going to do the same for the 753. What size nut is that on the top of the cylinder as I currently don't have this size socket? Thanks.

I'm not sure, I don't have the service manuals. I think I used thread locker and put it as tight as I could with a pipe.

Go to the Bobcat parts website. You can put in your serial number and make sure you get the right one. Let me know if that helps.

My bucket keeps slowly dropping. Would this be because of the tilt cylinder?

    • @CedarTrailsLiving
      @CedarTrailsLiving  21 день назад

It could be but in my experience, when the internal seals go bad it leaks oil out the wipers since they don't do anything to hold back fluid. The other possible culprits might be leaking hose from the controls or depending on the model, the valves at the controls. Even after the rebuild, mine will very slowly drift down so it is probably in the valve part.

I'm not a proper mechanic and not sure which machine you have but check all the lock switches and fuses. There is the lap bar that has to be down, the parking brake, the green button in the cab. I had a fuse go out once that disabled my aux hydraulics. That is in a little box in the back as you open the door. Also check the wiring under the cab where the manifold is. That assumes electrical issue but otherwise check for pressure from the pump and make sure fluid level is good inside the tank. There may be a leak somewhere. Hope this gives you some ideas. Good luck.
