Of course not. The USA only flew to the Moon from July of 1969 until December of 1972. Then we lost interest. So this person’s dad would have been maybe 4 yrs old.
Only 12 men have walked on the Moon and 4 of them are still alive. The youngest is now 86 and the oldest, Buzz Aldrin, 2nd man to walk there, is 92 yrs old.

I feel this is the first time I feel a sense of being a part of this world's science community. I learnt about the James Webb telescope last year before it was launched. Learnt about it;s amazing engineering and was excited about it. But I wasn't expecting the results so fast. And as the images are released, I feel so excited seeing them. seeing the science community celebrate makes me feel like I am a part of this journey. Most people still have no idea what these pictures are all about and why it's so important. Thankyou NASA (CSA and ESA too) for this work. Even though I'm not American, I feel proud of what NASA has achieved, It's a achievement for all of humanity. And I am so thankful to internet for giving me access to the world which I could have explored otherwise only in my imagination. Oh I'm so overwhelmed😶. Science is my first and last love, and If you call me a nerd for saying that, I will thank you.

Well said! And this is only the beginning. So stay focussed! 🙂👍
I've been following this project for at least twenty years. Just like you I am amazed by the engineering achievement, and by the first results. Back at the start of this project I was doing a BSc in mechanical engineering. Afterwards I worked as an engineer, worked abroad, did some travelling, and gained a MSc in physics. Today I am a pre-university physics teacher teaching children that science and engineering are beautiful things. After the final exams this spring I was proud that more than half of my students went on to study in technical universities.
What some call nerds, others call interesting people! 🙂
Good luck to you and take care!

I remember them introducing the Apollo program, with a capsule that would (gasp) hold THREE astronauts. The pictures seemed to imply they could get up and walk around in the craft, lol...

As a super fan of NASA science for over 60 years I am surprised at how little this massive project was in our awareness through tough times. Moon landing and hubble and ISS got all the spotlight but we have a new 'star' team to thank. The limits and folly of Hubble were teachable moments that led to this.
