The Best XP DEUS Control Unit Waterproof Case (My Opinion)

  • This is a video of a case I picked up for my XP DEUS. Their Silicone case just doesnt cut it and I wanted something that would leave me with full functionality of the Control Unit as well as not be hidden in my pocket.
Living in the PNW, it definitely gets wet here. I wanted something to be able to go out and continue to hunt all year long. This case easily allows you to still have full button functionality so you can switch between profiles easily as well as see the screen and make sure GB is spot on and signal levels are what you think they are.
As for the headphones, I just wear a rain jacket with the hood over my head and the headphones are protected and out of harms way.

Case: Aryca Tide Waterproof Case (Waterproof to 20+ Feet. I have seen multiple people say online and claim they are good to 99 feet but I wouldnt try that deep unless you can test the case with something else less valuable in it) www.bhphotovide...

Thank you Martyn! For the clip I just used Gorilla Glue Super Glue. I put a liberal amount on because the clip is slightly curved so it needed a decent amount to fill the very small gap. Honestly its the best idea with the most function I have seen and looks very nice. Doesnt look like a hack job or rigged poorly. Super easy to use and switch it out to just unit if needed.

Great tip.... Thanks!!! The only thing I would do different... I would use 3M Automotive grade foam double stick tape to attach the clip.... That way it is cleaner, strong, easier to detach (the clip without damaging it)) and will fill-in any unevenness in either piece. I have both a Deus and a Aryca Tide case on their way.

Thanks for this idea. I got one off Amazon for $3.99 shipped. Granted its yellow, but I can live with that for that price. :)

I bought one of these and my experience has been that it is a bit too large. It frequently comes dislodged from the mount and the falls to the ground. Thus far, the case has provided protection just like it does for a cell phone. I dont like the increased risk of damage to the most expensive part of the entire unit. I am considering the arm band waterproof protector.

It seems a good idea. What glue did you use to stick the clip on the back of the case ?

  • @iamtheav8r

So did you just take the connector/plug thing off the Deus handle and glue it onto the case? So there is a hole in that spot when the unit isn't mounted?
    And,,,BTW
Smart phones do not use heat to register touch. They use a capacitive digitizer that measures the capacitance in your skin to register touch. This is why you can put metallic thread in the finger of a glove (or buy commercially produced ones) to use a phone with gloves on.

Not sure if you have a DEUS or not. There is no hole left in. There is still a plug where the "Clip" that I glued on to the case locks into to.
Also yes my terminology was wrong. They are capacitive screens. But water being the great conductor that is is wont allow the finger touches to work with this case under water since the screen is a silicone screen. With a capacitive screen under water, when you go to touch it, its like touching the entire screen at the same time so it wont respond.

So Adam, with this waterproof case for your Deus you can shallow water hunt without any special cable attached to the coil? Can you shallow water hunt up to your chest having the control box submerged without any problems? I'd only use it that way in fresh water lakes..Let me know. Thanks, Norm Marsh

Yes you can go submerged. It is a Waterproof Diving case for Cell Phones. It is made for under water use.

great idea, I just bought a used deus and dont see the piece u glue on, is it something that should be included? thanks coop

    • @adamgorrell9176
      @adamgorrell9176 10 лет назад

Yes it should have. That piece is the block off for the mount if you are not using the head unit or have it in your pocket. I am sure you can get a new one from XP.

+Trevor Stevens I used the "plug" that came with the Deus and just epoxied it to the back of the case. Has worked great.
