    This game still haunts me...Kreig threw a deep pass to Aubery Matthews that was ruled out of bounds that he clearly had both feet in bounds...I'm stilled posses at that BS call.

    Dave Krieg (most underrated Quarterback in NFL history) did a great job rallying the Lions into the playoffs and in this game. That missed field goal by Hanson was huge. I’m not saying the Lions were going to win the Super Bowl because the 49ers were on a mission, but they could’ve done some damage had they won this game.

      James Michael they had already beaten the Cowboys in Dallas that year, they would have been a much better matchup for them than the Packers proved to be. Especially with Krieg starting this time around instead of Mitchell
      Tho to be fair to Mitchell he performed well in the first matchup with Dallas

      Kreig's terrible throw there was what cost them. That receiver was 7-8 yards clear of the corner. If he makes even a semi accurate throw there, it's an easy touchdown. These are the types of misses that don't show up in the stat sheet

    I feel like the narrative that Barry Sanders played on a bunch of bad Lions teams was and is a bit misleading. No none of his lion teams were ever legit Super Bowl contenders, but they did make the playoffs 5 times in Barry’s 9 year career there.

    • @bruceleeroy8302
      @bruceleeroy8302 Год назад +1

      Yes, they mostly made the playoffs because of him. Had he not been on those teams, they'd be totally irrelevant as they have been since he retired.

    • @Riles3152
      @Riles3152 10 месяцев назад +2

      @@bruceleeroy8302 Mainly because of him yes. But they also had 2 really good recievers in Brett Perriman and Herman Moore, who might have been the most underrated WR of the 90's. They also had some pretty good to very good defenses led by Chris Spielman. Yes Barry was by far there biggest star and most valuable player, but he did play on a handful of solid to good Lions teams.

      I highly doubt that. The score might've been 1 TD closer( than 35-9) with Sterling.
      Emmitt sat out the 3 quarters of that same playoff game the following week. Robert Brooks turned out to be just as good( until injuries eventually shortened his time as well) and the team got better by being more evenly ball distributed(
      using Chumra, Levans, Bennett, Keith Jackson, Freeman)
