One thing you just cannot deny. The people of these communities did not sit around and cry, why me? They got up, and went to work cleaning and rebuilding with what ever was available to them. Makes me proud to be a resident.
Watching this in 2019 and it still makes me tremble remember that night. I've been through other hurricanes but Sandy was the worst. We didn't sustain any substantial damage but that's not true for many people, some still trying to recover. Praying for those still affected by this storm and the many more since then.
Ridiculous sound track spoiled entire video. Hearing the sounds of the storm and people's comments would have more informative as to the severity of the situation.
I grew up there - they don't. Heck even here along Gulf they are not very practical, native cypress trees on the other hand weather hurricanes well as we found out during Ike in '08.
Beach town as we know them are a dying thing. Especially on a barrier island. You simply have to look at the structures as temporary. Mother Nature will win every time. And with rising sea level you may get 40 more years if no storm hits you, but likely 15 years. BTW, Sandy wasn't even a hurricane. Needs 84mph winds. You may want to think it was one. Sorry. Imagine when a "real" hurricane hits.

Been to Belmar many times. Rented a House on the Boardwalk at Pt. Pleasant Beach for 7 years. Lot of damage there also.
Thank you for recording such a historic event!

That was awesome. Capturing the surge. How powerful the ocean can be.
