I am afraid true country music is gone forever, very few of the artists now can sit down with just a three piece band and play country music. Thankful there are some of the older singers still around and like the song says who's going to fill their shoes.
I think the problem started when they started letting these non country singers into the fold that come from background like rock and punk and every other thing you could name and start changing country music.
REAL MUSIC (note the Capitals) will live forever. Real words, expressing Real feelings, of Real people. Simple melodies, simple words, that can say so much. Thanks to these people, like Vince Gill, who still care fir Real Music.

I agree Dave, This is what I want to hear on the radio. Not the embarrassing display of Popular music and skinny jeans that keeps my radio turned off, making me stream Travis Tritt, George Jones and Hank Williams' channels on Pandora.
My brother and nephew died in a plane crash on May 31st, 2018. I just heard another version of this where Vince Gill said he wrote it for his own brother, who passed. It's May 10th, 2019 and the anniversary of my brother and his son's deaths is coming up. He was a horse trainer flying to Ruidoso Downs because he had a horse in the race. A cowboy. "Love for the father and the son" takes on a different level of meaning when I hear this. Thanks. I've lost both of my brothers and my parents now, but my dad and brothers were also musicians and seeing you two just playing and seeing together reminds me of my dad playing and singing with his son (my brother) and now they're doing it on that mountain together after living and going out like the country rebels they were too. ❤

I lost my grandpa 4 months ago tomorrow. I havent given myself time to grieve. He wasnt only my grandpa he lived right beside us my whole life growing up. I mow his grass and I look into the windows still looking for him but he's not there. Grief is a very hard process

This is one of my families favorite songs. It was played at my uncles funeral service back in February. I've heard it played at many funerals but it never actually fit the person until we lost him. Miss you daily Uncle Frankie. Cant wait to see you again

Mom and dad were married for 45 yrs. dad would have been 68 July 10th. Not a moment passing I don’t think of him or talk to him in spirit. I know he’s is heaven so peaceful with our savior Jesus Christ and other family and loved ones. Keep keeping on boys.

This was my daddy’s favorite song. He passed two years ago and it’s very hard to carry on without him! The past few days has seemed like losing him hit me the hardest! And last night I was on RUclips as usual and I played this video and it eased my broken heart because I know he’s where he is suppose be❤️and he’s waiting on me and all his family.
