    I like this! I think when I subscribed a few years ago you were at 50k subscribers and then skyrocketed the past couple of years. What you do definitely isn’t easy at all and the cost of all of your equipment isn’t cheap either 🎉

      You got that right when it comes to equipment costs. I am pretty rough on my gear and I will often damage or break cameras/lenses which have astonomical costs.

For every utterance in your videos, I'm certain there's 10 more bullshit phrases you never even put in there, and probably 3 more that you left on the cutting room floor. Brilliant video Steve and well done for all your hard work on giving us viewers great honest reviews.. WOW!!!! 3 days to edit...... Took me about an hour or more to edit a 20 min video and that was just uploading drone footage, adding an odd caption.... popping a bit of music in and also chapter bit at beginning etc... And that was just using basic movie maker as I am crap with computers. Movie maker went down a while ago, but mine still worked.... until other week. I then looked at other video editors for idiots like me and got capcut.... Now this takes even longer for me to upload a simple video as I am an idiot and need very basic stuff.
    I take my hat off to you my friend and keep up the great work, and also more important, keep your lovely wife happy too if you have retired from your other main job. Bless you for what you do for us all. 👍👍💕💕👍👍

    Great episode Steve. A lot of people think that all RUclipsrs get paid to review stuff and they just have no clue. A lot of the time many RUclipsrs actually buy the product they review on their channels whether it be at a discount or full price. And it does take a good amount of time to film edit, render, export, upload, etc. , and if you’re not a full timer on YT it takes even more time to do these things which takes away from LIFE! So Steve… listen to your wife, she knows best! 😄 And Happy New Year!!

    Try making a video comparable to his recent DoMain review. He's got a Go Pro video file, a DJI 03 video file, a DJi action cam file and the video file from his intro. All those files have to be edited down, some were snyched with each other and all of them had to be sequenced with a video editor. Plus he's got video graphics showing the flight time along with other visual effects. He also filmed in three different locations. And he had to fly a drone!

    Thanks for the video. It is my understanding that while many YT channels do not receive $$ in change, a very high percentage do receive free products worth $100s. In exchange, the YT video is tied to a very detailed agreement of talking points and restrictions (i.e., video is approved by the company in advance). I have noticed the pattern of talking points and lack of any real critical comments about the products. There are YT channels that are upfront to some degree by saying they received the product for free but don't go into details as to detailed agreement. When a reviewer purchases the product with their own money and there is no agreement in place, the reviewer states that fact upfront and the reviews are noticeably different in content and the pros\cons by comparison to competing products. In the drone space, a good exmample is the release of the DJI Mini 4 pro.The YT channels that had agreements in place all contained the same talking points and they were near 100% positive about the DJI. These reviews were ready to go and released within days of each other (official release date). A few channels without the agreements in place were very different in content and contained far more pros\cons about the drone.

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798
      @CAPTAINDRONE798  6 месяцев назад +1

      I do know that companies that schedule a RELEASE DATE for a product launch will provide reviewers with bullet points so that could be what you are referring to. I do get bullet points, but often I joke in the review and say the company would like me to pass on the following points. Normally in a review you can say what you wish (good or bad). DJI on the other hand is kinda like APPLE and everything, including leaks, are all handled by a promotion company, thus DJI reviewers rarely point out anything negative on launch day for fear of no longer being part of the DJI monster.

    Hi Steve. Happy New Year.
    After watching many of your reviews on drones I went ahead and bought the Potensic Atom last October, which I think is a great drone for me (I'm a newbie). One thing I'm struggling with is the flight logs. I don't know how to download and open them. Have you ever done a video on the topic of flight logs, if not would you consider making one as I'm sure there are many people like me who have no idea.
    Many thanks Steve and keep up your good work.
    Regards Richard.

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798
      @CAPTAINDRONE798  7 месяцев назад +1

      Usually flight logs for most drones are shown in the app under your account. Some drones, like DJI Drones, have super detailed flight logs that are accessed only for the purpose of filing a claim (I.e., the drone went out of control and I want you to fix it for free).

    • @sheiladavis2304
      @sheiladavis2304 7 месяцев назад

      I wish the review for the Atom came before the review for the cfly mini . I bought the mini because it looked like best bang for the buck. It literally fell out of the sky and crashed on the concrete snapping off an arm halfway up because the plastic is so brittle. I tried to get the company to replace as the flight time and log showed I had flown it for 8 min and was only 30ft away but they wouldn't even return or answer my emails so I bought a replacement arm with motor but again there are no instructions on how to replace the arm and the plastic is so brittle even my local Hobby shop wouldn't take the job because they were afraid they would break it. Then I saw the review on the Atom and was like"Noooooo!!" I wished I had bought it instead. I ended up getting a used dji mini 2 but if you add it up I could have bought a new dji mini 3... live and learn I guess. Is the Atom as good as it looks?

  • @sheiladavis2304
    @sheiladavis2304 7 месяцев назад +1

    Hi cap, that's one of the things I love about you and your reviews. You aren't paid to review products. Besides the equipment they give you. I've been wondering about one company in particular. You and insta go seem to be pretty tight. Enough so that they seem to supply you with cameras and even that rep came on and did a giveaway. Are you sponsored by them. If not do you make money from all the views you get by RUclips? Or any part of the commercials that are on your episodes? I am wondering because I have been thinking about doing review videos myself and Incase I get some views I would love to know how it works. Another thing I love about your channel is that you are Canadian like myself. We seem to have a lot of great creators from Canada on RUclips who seem to be doing quite well in their genre. I am a long time fan I believe I started watching you in 2018. It's been an awesome 5 yrs. Seeing how far both you and drones have come in that time.

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798
      @CAPTAINDRONE798  7 месяцев назад +2

      As noted in the video, I’m not sponsored by anyone, not even insta360. Insta360 is the only camera company that makes cameras I can use in my product reviews… no one else makes anything that comes close. So for that reason I use their cameras to enhance my reviews. Most I’ve bought myself, just like I buy all GoPros, all DJI cameras. The only way a creator/influencer can make money on RUclips is to be a businessman. This means it is up to me to figure out how to make an income. The world could give a creator a pile of free items, but it is then up to the creator to figure out how to turn that into an income.

    I think the main reason people think you in particular are paid by drone companies is the large amount of cheap/low-end drone reviews that sometimes seemed rushed or low-effort. We assume nobody is interested in those so the logical conclusion is they're paid videos.

      All stickers were mailed on the same day and plenty of people around the world have received them. If you provided a valid address and answered the question and sent your email before the deadline, then stickers would have been mailed. My wife handles that portion and she addressed several thousand envelopes within two weeks. We did have approx 50 people who either didn’t answer the question, only gave half their address, or sent their request after the deadline. Those 50 individuals did not receive stickers.

      Most reviewers that put out plenty of videos on different products have to buy many of the items themselves, or else they would just keep reviewing the same item over and over (like you see on DJI Drone Reviewer channels.... They just keep reviewing the same darn drone over and over as that is the only item they received for FREE).

    Yeah I've defended your content I never felt like your content was misleading it's informative about the product yes they aren't long term reviews and for me that's ok it's fine to showcase a product do basic testing and not be super critical of the drone. Should channels exist that do hardcore test drones sure. Does it need to be every channel no and does it need to be yours? No you can do your channel content and I can do mine and drx can do his 🤷🏻‍♂️ as long as none of us are willfully lying to our audience trying to mislead them into buying something I see no issue. I don't think any of us do that, if someone is caught doing that they should be exposed. But your content captain drone I feel is harmless infact I'd say you are more than a net good because of the quality of your videos and information within. Yeah I can go look at Banggood for a drone but seeing it in person helps people make a decision. So keep it up 🍻
