Yeah I love how the Mormons the Muslims and the Jehovah's witnesses take the Nicene Creed and the council of nicea out of context. The Jehovah's witnesses in the Mormons go and blame Constantine saying that he forced the doctrine of the Trinity upon the church, when that's actually not even the case. The reason why they don't give you the actual story is because they already know what the actual story was, and they also blame Constantine and saying oh the Roman Catholic Church created the doctrine of the trinity. So that means that the Trinity is pagan when that's actually not at all what that even means because if they knew any better which they actually do and if they weren't as ridiculous as freaking Arius himself then they would also understand that aryanism was forced upon Christianity and that Constantine was baptized into arianism after Arius died. So that's what Jehovah's witnesses in Mormons do they already know what the story teaches just like the Muslims know what the story teaches but they give a generic view of it. To make Christians out to be the bad people, when point of fact we aren't and the doctrine of the Trinity is actually taught in the Christian doctrine if you look in the Bible you can obviously find it. Jehovah's witnesses will say up and down the word Trinity is not in the Bible so I'm not going to agree with that. Neither is the word bible. So are you going to believe the Bible is the word Bible's not in the Bible? This is what pathetic wrongdoing cults in false believers do all the freaking time just like one this Pentecostals they say the same stinking thing when they already know what the story is and they already know what it teaches and it does not teach what they think it teaches they give a generic story about it.

My question is about the word begat, since that seems to be what Arius' objections hinged on. Is there a theological definition or understanding of it that differs from the secular meaning of causing, generating, procreating, fathering etc?

    • @SanctusApologetics
      @SanctusApologetics  Год назад +5

Thanks for the support , i appreciate that , the word begat stems from begotten, and it means to bring into existence, the problem with Arius is he took the word too literally obviously, because when Christ was begotten, he was begotten into the flesh, and not literally into existence. Theologically speaking, I happen to believe that Valentinus was the one who was closest to actual metaphysical truth(s). Can I prove it, no. Can the nicene creed christians prove their points, no. And just because there is a majority deciding something doesn´t mean it is true. We all know that, we see it on a daily basis. So why this council is still accepted as defining the most accurate christian faith is beyond me.

This makes for both listening humbly to all humans AND not to take everything as truth no matter how convinced the person is.
Numbers doesn't say anything either, as we should have learned by now, watching the rear view mirror of all history and also the current state of the world. Collective traditional habits are not necessarily authorative essentially speaking. Can be. Can be not.
The journey to truth is often pathless and utterly lonesome, although good companions and guides may come our way, they cannot walk for us. That is the cross we bear.
Yes, I can namedrop very heavy names among mystics, esoteric christians, researchers etc, but it would just be another round leading nowhere.

@Mika El if we are left to live in such darkness, why does Christ stress truth? It seems you don't really know who to trust, nor have you a strong epistemological case for any sort of worldview. But what if there is an external authority? Say, the Church, which was promised to be "guided into all truth"? Since you admit there isn't a way to know for sure one way or another way, why not put your faith in the statements Christ? "I will be with you always, until the end of the age." In your worldview, there is no guiding into truth. Christ wasn't with us.

And what does the LORD require but to do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly. This is where Christianity went wrong - they became obsessed with things we cannot know and things that have nothing to do with loving God or following the teachings of Jesus. I would wager that 90+ % of Christians who recite the churchy sounding Nicene Creed have absolutely no idea what they’re saying or how or why it was developed and I would guess many wouldn’t agree with it, if they did. How can anyone say what I BELIEVE is wrong and what they BELIEVE is right since belief by definition is a mental representation we hold to be true in the absence of factual evidence. I practice love of God and neighbor. I don’t believe it into existence. I act justly and I practice compassion, mercy, and kindness. I don’t believe them into existence. As in Isaiah 1:11-17, I can hear God say “I don’t want your creeds and catechisms, your liturgies and hymns. I want you to do what I told you to do.”

it's interesting the high level of the theological discussion back then, nowadays Christ "the Logos" is seem "too muh as a person" a very materialistic view kinda similar to mohammed or buddah (" just prophets"), modern christians forgot that Christ is the Logos (Logos= reason and language, the "logic" by which all things are made", order, the "wisdom of God") "and the Logos is God" says John1.1
Ἐν ἀρχῇ ἦν ho ὁ Λόγος... καὶ Θεὸς ἦν ὁ Λόγος
En archē ēn ho Logos... kai Theos ēn ho Logos.
"in the beginning is the Logos ...and God is the Logos"
"Logos" doesn't mean just "the word"
1 Corinthians 4:20 "For the Kingdom of God is not in "the word/s" but in dynamic."
the original greek specifically uses the term "dynamei" (δυνάμει)=dynamic, power, force.
biblehub dot com /interlinear/1_corinthians/4-20 dot htm
mormons in a way follow the footsteps of Arius, they do not belive that the Logos is God, they translate the greek as:
      kai Theos ēn ho Logos.
"and a god is the Logos"
so they see the logos as a separate entity from God "the father".
so curiosuly enough we are seeing a lot of the same issue that the first christians dealt with coming back, all this discusion is in greek because that's the language of the new testament this is important because there is no latin translation for the term "logos", the correct way to translate John 1.1 is adopting the term.

Not really. The Nicene Creed’s ending is in opposition to Lutheranism. “I believe in One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church.” Lutheranism isn’t the one true church established by Christ, nor is it Catholic nor apostolic. The Canons of Nicaea are in contradiction to Lutheranism.
      For example
      Canon 8
Concerning those who call themselves Cathari [a heretical sect separate from the Catholic communion] if they come over to the Catholic and Apostolic Church (proving that there is one visible Catholic Church established by the Apostles), the great and holy Synod decrees that they who are ordained shall continue as they are in the clergy. But it is before all things necessary that they should profess in writing that they will observe and follow the dogmas of the Catholic and Apostolic Church…..and a time [of restoration] fixed so that in all things they will follow the dogmas of the Catholic Church. Wheresoever, then, whether in villages or in cities, all of the ordained are found to be of these only, let them remain in the clergy, and in the same rank in which they are found. But if they come over where there is a bishop or presbyter of the Catholic Church, it is manifest that the Bishop of the Church must have the bishop's dignity; and he who was named bishop by those who are called Cathari shall have the rank of presbyter, unless it shall seem fit to the Bishop to admit him to partake in the honour of the title. Or, if this should not be satisfactory, then shall the bishop provide for him a place as Chorepiscopus, or presbyter, in order that he may be evidently seen to be of the clergy, and that there may not be two bishops in the city.“

Let me correct your lie. Constantine was THE influential figure at Nicea. He attended the debate every day and made a show of his entrance at the beginning so that all would know who’s in charge. Each side did their best to make back room deals with Constantine so that their side could win out. Not only that, but Athanasius’ side was hardly the norm of Christianity. It was simply one sect of Christian belief and not even the largest. Nicea did not have every Christian belief represented, only the two fallacious sides of Athanasius and Arius.

Jesus all his life emphasis people to follow the law of moses and to follow the 10 commandments of moses. However, it was paul who said no need to follow the law of old testament. It is enough to beleive in jesus and that he died for our sin and he rose from dead to get salvation. Therefore, just follow new testament. The crowds answered, “This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee.”

The council of Nicaea could be called the marriage of Church-State. This council Imho is the reason Christianity is so dysfunctional and has been since the Christianity spelled out in the creed was mandated for all Roman citizens to convert to (385 ad edict of Thessolonica). They became enemies debating doctrines that Jesus never spoke a word about. Was He born of the Father before all ages? How can we possible know unless they could have made a time machine and traveled back before all ages to see if Jesus was around back then. Why didn't the counsel discuss the simple non religious teachings of Jesus like if you want to fulfill all the Law and the prophets wrote simply love God and your neighbor as Yourselves.? Why didn't they brainstorm together saying Jesus said in the kingdom of Heaven the greatest will be servant to the weakest and plan how they could serve the people and how they could reach out and love their enemies like Jesus commanded? Instead they set up a priesthood that controlled the minds of the people through guilt, shame and fear allowing those at the top to live lives of obscene wealth and power. This is the polar opposite of what Jesus lived and taught his disciples. That is why Peter and John could say to the cripple man; "Silver and gold have we none but what we have we give to you (freely). In the name of Jesus get up and walk". The church Constantine formed his partnership with would say silver and gold we have in abundance but we don't have any power except political power to burn anyone at the stake if they don't believe the doctrines we tell them to and the beautiful name of Jesus has been distorted beyond recognition by church doctrine and dogma and horrific atrocities done in His name. When we stand before Jesus do you think He is going to quiz us on whether we believed doctrines based on stories of talking snakes or is He going to want to know did we love, did we forgive and if not why did you call me Lord, Lord and not do the simple things I commanded you to do? 🙏

@@SanctusApologetics You uninspired unauthorized leaders are blind! I've read John along with everything else. God is an Exalted Man who is married to an Exalted Woman. The two of them sired the Spirit body of Christ. It is not Good for Man to be alone and a Father cannot be a Father without a companion who is a Mother! Christ is the LITERAL human offspring of God. The creeds are the ramblings of uninspired reprobates who do not know anything about God or Eternity. Christ was born Spiritually to a Heavenly Mother and then born into mortality through Mary!

1 In the beginning was the gospel preached through the Son. And the gospel was the word, and the word was with the Son, and the Son was with God, and the Son was of God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.

Arius had gotten the relationship between God and His Son perfectly correct. Modern teaching by God's Ministering Spirits reveals that Arius was right all along and the corrupt church under the influence of Satan got it all horribly wrong. When a church enters into communication with one of God's angels or Ministering Spirits one of the first questions asked is the relationship between God and Christ. The Ministering Spirit will only tell the truth even if it is unpalatable to the listener - and therein lies the answer as to why the Church today does not avail itself of the Spirits of Truth promised by Christ.
