That first melon you tasted WAS a cantaloupe. It may have been an Indian variety, but nevertheless, it's a cantaloupe. You can tell by the outer skin and the inner seed pack/pod. The Canary melon is like the Honeydew melon we in the U.S. are most familiar with. Sorry that that first particular Yamato cream watermelon was a disappointment. Glad the second one was more to your liking. You two are a riot together. Mr. H enjoying the strawberry watermelon so much that he realized he wasn't looking up into the camera and then looking up, smiling/laughing and waving and saying "how y'all doing?" Then Mrs. H grabbing for the knife while Mr. H was cutting the first Yamato cream and almost cutting herself. Mrs. H stepping on Mr. H's toe (or so he said) and sending him into conniptions. Farming is a process. You live and you learn.

Thanks for the melon taste test. I hope that i can find a canary melon. The melon that Mr. H said it reminds him of 78. It seems back in the 70s, the watermelons did have the best flavor to me.

That Strawberry Watermelon HAD YOU! Love it! Now I want to grow them, too! I wonder if that first Yamato Cream didn't have all that extra water from when it had split and maybe it didn't absorb that water while it was growing or something. If it was me, going forward, the ones that split like that would be cut off the vine to allow the plant to concentrate on whatever other fruits are on it rather than risk another kind of wasted effort (even though I'm sure the chickens wil very much enjoy it). Love y'all's videos and hope Mr. H's toe & foot feels better real soon!

Loved watching your taste tests on the melons. I felt for you when you cut open the first Yamato cream melon. Our son bought a watermelon at Walmart and when he cut it open it looked like your melon. It was just all water and mush.

Watched this yesterday on the big TV, thought I would just skip thu but nope, watched every minute of the broadcast. Most growers videos depress me and remind me of failure, but you 2 inspire me and remind me of how life gives us surprise after surprise when we grow our groceries. Loved the big bite fold over!

I tried using coins and water in baggies and hanging them every 10 feet around the porch. It really worked on keeping the flies away.

Oh, yall took me back to my 10 year old self visiting my grandparents. I would ask for yellow meat/ or any kind of water melon before the car stopped (lol). My grandfather would make us wait and once he gave the ok we ran to the watermelon patch.
My mouth watered the whole time.
I live in Washington state and very seldom get good melons. Enjoy a big slice foe me.
