I’ve set this video up to be a fundraiser and I'm not 100% sure how these work. I made an update to the fundraiser to set a goal of $500 to make sure that we can hit that goal and get it sent out to the charity! I asked around for how the fundraisers work and this seems like the best way to do it from what I've heard.

JoCat's the GOAT and its a shame he will no longer be making content. He seems like a cool dude, and it would've been great to have an opportunity to work with the guy. Also, I truly wish that those who harassed him and his family could finally get the courage to go see a therapist.
FUCK THE HATERS THEY SHOULD GET THERAPY BEFORE HATING. Sorry for the language uh idk
There is however a large stigma around seeking mental help in the world, or at least in the west, especially if you are male.
@@JakeCWolfStigma should never be an excuse and society as a whole as of late has been working hard so that would not be the case. A stigma is to a concept as a stereotype is to a group of people, adhering to them is just as harmful to oneself as it is to others and this needs to be realized.
Sorry for the text block, the topic of stigmas has been a bit annoying these past couple years.
@@vinnypiazza4851 a stigma can take incredibly long to dissipate especially if it has been around for a long time and reinforced, just because a stigma is being fought against now and people are attempting to reverse that stigma it can still affect those who grew up with it reinforced in the culture. It's a big thing and can't be simply be changed overnight, it takes time, but during that time people can still be affected by that stigma. But I'm not sure therapy would help those haters, their probably just jackasses, in some cases dangerous jackasses, but jackasses none the less.
@@DeezNuts-ju1rj I'm aware, I'm more just expressing my frustration with stigma as well as people's inability to think beyond what a stigma implies about those things
Dude said "I like women" in the most wholesome way possible and got threatened and harassed for it. Absolute circus.
It was a cute and funny video too! I don't get it. A terminally online person really needs to dig deep in that video to find something to complain about because I can't find what's wrong with it. He basically listed all kinds of girls too, so that makes it even more wholesome! Argh! I am upset about all of this.
Its so bizarre to me that a women can do the exact video but no one would mind an eye, im no incel but this double moral people have its starting to make me real mad.
*Essentially, if we could get an exact number of how many haters actually watched the vid past seeing the thumbnail, it would likely not be a big one.*
For a person with a heart full of hate, either self induced one or from being harassed by others, seeing someone say "I like girls" translates in their head to something like "I like girls and you should" or whatever homophobic line they transplant from their own life onto someone they see online.
*And the worst part, a lot of people likely only took someone's word for it. You only need 100 a-holes and a lie to convince 100000 people to rally against 1 phrase out of context.*
@@mantraki There are double standards all over the place, no matter where you look. Doesn't make you an incel to notice one that applies to women lmao.

Nah they hate him because his stuff seems gay , tho its the straightest shit i ever heard 🗣🗣
But you're maybe right
Actual body positivity involves encouraging healthy behavior and lifestyle, telling people comforting lies and encouraging a lifestyle that leads to a premature death isn't, and the latter is what modern day body positivity is, so I definitely don't support that stance.
Not that he deserves being harassed or threatened mind you, that's an entirely inappropriate response to having a different opinion.
@@Daredhnu body positivity is for the disfigured and disabled, not the weak willed who can't commit to healthy food and want the rest of the world to accept and praise them for being at their worst.
@@DaredhnuI'm pretty sure the body positivity movement in general is mostly about respecting and cheering on people of all shapes and sizes, not encouraging any one specific body type over the other. The movement exists as a response to the dehumanisation, harassment, and misrepresentation of people who don't fall into conventional beauty standards for whatever of the dozens of reasons they don't look that way, those not just being too lazy, as people who don't struggle with negative feeling regarding their bodies may believe.
No one is encouraging people to die "prematurely," as that is inherently regressive to any movement, but regardless of how fit one is, anyone can lose their life in an instant in something as simple as a car accident. However, death by one's own hand as a result of a lifetime of bullying and experiencing an utter lack of empathy from many people who look more in line with what society seems to like is significantly more likely for the people the movement seems to encourage. Unlike a car accident, it can be foreseen and it can be prevented.

Sure, that can feel good at the moment, but even when you win that kind of battle, you prolong the war - and the problem is the war, not the immediate battle. I have come to believe that compassion, love, forgiveness, and altruism are the only real escape from the war, because wars by nature are zero-sum games that demand there must be a looser, and as long as there is a looser, there will always be a future battle to even things up - and as long as there is a battle in the future the war will trudge on. Every social media company tries to get data from us and censor what we do with the pretense of "protecting our feelings and what the little children watch", then this shit happens (or youtube kids) and no one does crap. Man, the internet is fucked up...
Tell that to SSSniperWolf
It's difficult to punish a mob of people online, you can only really rely on getting their consciences to go "woah, what I did was messed up." Otherwise, what can actually be done? Report accounts? That doesn't catch the many people who use alts and also requires they were explicitly aggressive; a chunk of people with a huge effect in these situations are also the gossipers who only say things that are *kind of* mean.
@@rogueobscura But WHY is it hard to punish a mob? Surely, there exists in this world of information and excess, adequate resources to find and hold accountable these individuals responsible. Don't you think it would be more accurate to say that, with effort and expense, one COULD uncover the identity/identities of those responsible, and hold them accountable, but that people simply lack the enthusiasm to do so? A collection of inadequate excuses, like, "it would be hard" or, "it would take too long" or "it wouldn't matter anyway, the damage is done"
The absolute truth to this matter is, society doesn't care about the little people, and that's a truth that cuts both ways. People often lament how a single vote, or the actions of one person, cannot meaningfully affect the world. But that same lack of power, becomes power in and of itself when utilized for ill. An individual with a thousand people in front of him can lob stones until their hands are calloused and bleeding. But, an individual standing in front of a thousand has a stone tossed over their shoulder from behind, you can consider that person guilty of all the mobs sins, and more.
Diffusion of responsibility is a problem we've yet to solve, that's for sure.

I hope he finds what he needs to be happy, and am sad to see him go.
Thanks for sharing this.
i love videos that talk about the situation with thumbnails and titles like this, hopefully enough things like this on the internet will make jocat feel loved, it sucks that people literally will just hate on someone for being a little campy

a) Not posting cringe, or
b) Learning how to deal with the backlash

JoCat actually made it easier for me to understand the game, often when I read it from a book it gets jumbled up and i mix things up. but his crap guide actually gave a breakdown i could understand and it was hilarious. that little video i got a chuckle from because it was clear he was having fun! its horrific that someone would go so far to send possibly dangerous packages to someone's home!
I hope that JoCat manages to feel better about the whole situation as time goes on. It will be sad without him here but his own well being should always take priority. Perhaps we may hear from him again some day but until then if it does happen, we will be here with open arms and good wishes for him.
Jocat is an absolute legend. I would use his videos as a template to teach new people. Losing him over this is just bullcrap, but we're gonna miss him

I'm sorry, but WHO did Jocat look up to who'd so much as think about attacking him for that video?!
Well, the situation sucks regardless. I really hope he'll be okay.
In the grand scheme of things it doesn't really matter. If they want it to be a thing, they'll make it a thing.
He's very liberal in his social views and those attacking him are the left wing extremists that are always looking for reasons to be offended and people to destroy in order to build up their egos. So it's probably people along the Hasanabi lane and the like that he agrees with on most things that are attacking him. It's probably hurting him that people he agrees with on most issues are trying to use him to clout chase by misinterpreting a funny little nothing skit he did as an attack on a "protected group" that he himself would have defended.
It's kind of sad, Jo's never been anything but nice to people in all the content he's made.
@katnerd6712 Honestly it's crazy, the left and liberalism moves more and more left, they treat anyone whom isn't an extremist as an enemy. Hopefully JoCat thinks about this in regards to his political views as a whole. The left an an ever consuming hate mob who eat their own.

Homophobes and Transphobes and Bigots have nothing better to do than attack positive features in our lives.
Well there's a very good reason: Because it had nothing to do with the video itself.
The people "outside his target audience," as you can see from the few comments on that video, are bigots. Just people hating that he's an LGBT+ ally and himself openly not gender conforming.
Now, you wouldn't understand this if not for this correction because a lot of channels like this one and DnD shorts, well, they have bigots in their audience and they don't want to alienate them by shaming them for their harassment. Sure, Jocat's the literal victim of hate crimes, but they gotta protect their bottom line, y'know? Even if it means focusing on the video itself, inadvertently putting the blame on Jocat.
I thought it was a bit goofy, and maybe a bit cringy. But it was ultimately harmless and well animated video.
