Thank god I found ur video I almost sent mine back thank u
You're very welcome. Thanks for the feedback.
Thanks for the informative video. This was really bothering me, the freezing was happening so regularly.
Glad it helped to reassure you that this is perfectly normal!
Hi. Just got my XQ35LRF and it’s great. However one little question. I get ghost’ images ! I.e if i am looking at a fox, then move to something else the fox image is still there after two or three refresher’s then goes, is this normal? Also which calibration mode is best for normal conditions ie warm evenings.
Calibration is normal for every thermal device, irrespective of manufacturer... so don't worry. And you've already found the right RUclips video to start to understand what's happening.
I'd recommend Automatic calibration mode irrespective of weather conditions.
Most devices tend to calibrate more initially, as they reach the ambient temperature of the conditions you're using it in. After that, probably every couple of minutes or so (although more frequently if the sensor is having to work particularly hard... such as in fog, rain, snow or high humidity.)
Because I film with thermals always use automatic calibration mode, AND press the power button to recalibrate before I start filming or before the action gets interesting. That way I hopefully avoid any "ghosting" for the crucial moment I want to include in the final film.
I have a XQ35LRF : The camera as powered on it self-calibrates EVERY FEW SECONDS (no fog, no rain, 18 degrees celsius), During use, numerous vertical streaking appear on the screen. After calibration, these artifacts disappear temporarily, but reappear again after a few seconds. I noticed that when the camera warms up after 10m the situation improves. Is this a
warranty issue or is it normal camera operation? The camera is unusable.
Next time you use it, take it out of the case /out of your pocket several minutes before you plan to use it, so the device is the same temperature as the surrounding environment. Once you get to that point you should typically expect around one or two minutes (in dry conditions) before you notice the streaking and the unit automatically recalibrating to clear it.
Mine’s new and in auto mode calibrates every 10 seconds or so. Is that the expected calibration interval? If so, it makes the device virtually unusable. If I put it in manual mode the image degrades very quickly so that’s not the answer either.
The intervals between calibration are much closer together when it's cold/first turned on, and when there is a lot of moisture in the air (rain or fog). Don't worry, it is normal for all thermal devices (especially when going from a warm house/ vehicle to minus temperatures).
As the temperature of your thermal device normalises with the outside temps, the calibration times will become longer. Give it about 5 minutes (out of the bag / your pocket) for it to be the same as the outside temperature and the calibration intervals should be longer.
@@thomasjacksltd Good to know, thanks for getting back to me. I’ll see how it goes.
well that's all well and good but why does mine freeze to a brown screen and to get the image back you have to press the on/off button . I sent the unit back to Scott country who had it for a week and said it only did it once and that was how to get the image back.
That sounds like it was in 'Manual' calibration mode - so hopefully this video explains what's happening. If you've still got a problem (and there's not an 'M' at the bottom of the screen, indicating it's in Manual calibration mode) then you can get in touch with the UK warranty / servicing team here: www.thomasjacks.co.uk/contact.asp
@@thomasjacksltd no mate not in manual mode in auto
Try a factory reset (which you can find in 'Settings'),
Also check if the device has the latest firmware: Switch on its wifi and connecting to the Pulsar Streamvision / Streamvision2 app on your phone (depending on which model you have). It'll let you know if an update is available.
If they don't work, take a video of what's happening and send it to us at support@thomasjacks.so.uk
Sir my thermal axion is getting bleerred can u help me
The most common problem is accidentally changing the calibration setting. Make sure there's an "A" along the bottom of the screen (Not "M", or "SA".) There are instructions in the video for how to correct that issue.
My thermal scope has a solid freeze. It does not calibrate.
I'd appreciate a reply.
Check the device is in Automatic Calibration mode (there will be a capital 'A' on the bottom of the screen). If you've got 'SA' or 'M' it will only calibrate when you tap the power button.
To change the calibration mode to Automatic:
1. Go to main settings (long press)
2. Select the Calibration Mode option
3. Tap the Menu button to accept
4. Long press the Menu button to exit the menu
5. Double check there's an 'A' confirming you're in Automatic Calibration Mode.
Let me know how you get on.
My calibration is on automatic, I think there is another issue
See if this works:
1. Put it in Manual Calibration mode (M will appear on the bottom of the screen).
2. Close the lens cap
3. Then tap the power button.
4. Remove the lens cap and take a look.
If that works - it will allow you to use your device but the shutter might be stuck and it would be worth contacting the retailer you bought the device from.@@user-eb8mh2ev8n
There is no calibration problem The screen is just white.
