Ditto! I’ve had my 17 F250 6.2 for six years, tow a fifth wheel all over CO and a snowmobile trailer in the winter. Zero issues outside of regular maintenance.
Not sure why they talk trash they are incredible motors! Literally millions of them out there are many with very hard miles on them over 200,000 still going strong.
@@cliffh8486 I actually liked my 6.2 so much I was going to get another in a dually to haul my camper, but I missed the window to order. I have a 7.3 and it’s been good to me so far. Part of me wishes that they could have just grown the 6.2 to 7.0. Same design, more cubes. I think it would have been epic.
Thank you! We trust you. Would like see a long term test on the Ford H.O. Diesel, F350, 4x4, crewcab, longbed. That’s a lot of money for that more powerful diesel engine and there’s people out there saying it’s better and it gets better fuel mileage.
I’d think it’s similar to the regular powerstroke. All the engine hard parts are the same. In my experience the third gen powerstroke is the most fuel efficient diesel out right now, with the SO Cummins just behind it.
Going through this now. I have had lots of fords and they are my favorite. I have cracked one transmission open on a ford in 20 years, and that was at 350k but my new expedition ate a tranny at 55k. Fairly upset
@shettlock it is. The only thing he had to do was new tires. All I'd did with it was tow and he tows heavy trailers all the time. He's over 42k on it and the tires were almost shot, but to be expected with OEM rubber. Other than that he loves it and has only done oil changes (at 5k miles). He also said zero oil consumption. The interior is holding up very well and the paint still looks really good with a few construction bumps.
@@automotiveinquiries9673 thank you. I’m on ‘pause’ buying right now because of the oil consumption but I have a feeling the issue is an issue for 5% of (loud) owners. My concerns are going down over the last few months. We’re always looking into a black box with problems like this, never being able to gauge the real risk. I know I am going to take care of it which is why an unfixable issue like oil consumption really bothers me.
@shettlock that's understandable, I winder if the owners reporting oil consumption are running it out to the 7500 oil changes, I wish there was more data for sure. Even my diesels I drop at 5k or lower.
Nice video. I’ve had several trucks myself but not nearly as many as you lol. But mines all been GM, all Chevy with the exception of one GMC which was ironically the first one I actually bought for myself. But here’s the list: 1992 K1500, single cab, short bed, 350, auto and 4x4. It was a hand me down but my first vehicle. I seen it turn 200k and then wound up giving it back to my Dad. I can’t remember the exact mileage but it was pushing 250k when it developed a knock in the engine. 2006 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE, crew cab, short bed, z71, 5.3, automatic. First truck purchase of mine. Bought new in 2006. Kept it 7 years and put almost 100k on it. I loved it but it had several little nagging issues. Actuators down the door locks and ac door controls mostly. The engine and transmission were rock solid though. 2013 Silverado 1500 LT, extended cab, short bed, Z71, 5.3 and automatic (first 6 speed for me). My wife surprised me with this truck. We had kind of been through some rough times financially (my reason for selling the 2006 truck actually) and so after a few months of not having a truck she traded her car to this truck for me. It was an awesome truck. I put 50k miles on. Trouble free. We just really needed a crew cab. 2015 Silverado 1500 High Country , crew cab, short bed, 5.3, 4x4. This one is kinda a funny story. The 2016s were out and I loved the refresh front end and truly wanted a 2016. My selling dealer didn’t have the truck I wanted but could get it. It was a 2016 LT and Z71 and optioned how I wanted. BUT they offered me this left over 2015 High Country for the same price. So I took it. Regretted it within a month and didn’t keep it very long . Only had 12,000 miles. No issues but only 12,000 miles lol. 2016 Silverado 1500 LT, crew cab, short bed Z71. This was my favorite truck I owned up until I got my current truck. I absolutely loved it. It was also my first red truck. I kept it for 4 years I think and 76,000 miles. The only trouble it had was a bad vacuum pump that ended up getting a recall. Mine failed before the recall was issued and so I had already fixed it. It was a great truck. Even to this point it’s probably the truck I’ve used the most for towing. I helped my cousin with a pressure washing business and so I towed pressure washing trailers weekly sometimes. And I also had it when I got my race car in 2020. 2020 Silverado 2500 LTZ, crew cab, 4x4 Duramax. If this truck would have been red (it was white) it would be my favorite truck I guess. It was a near loaded LTZ that I got for a smoking deal in 2020 ($64,000 sale price). It had everything but Z71 and a gooseneck hitch. I loved the truck but it loved to keep its check engine light on. Never technically stranded me but I also never knew when the light would come on. Had to leave it overnight three times at the dealer trying to solve the issue. I think maybe they did fix it, but I traded it away because I was just done. If it would have been red though I would have kept it to see lol. It had 14,000 troublesome miles lol. 2021 Silverado 1500 RST, crew cab, z71, 5.3 with the 8 speed. This truck had a catastrophic engine failure at 8,400 miles coming home from the races towing my car. Collapsed lifter and bent pushrod. Didn’t strand me. I was able to limp it to the dealer and leave it but I was upset. I didn’t want a 1500 to start with but I was sick of the diesel I had and this was all I could get and get the smoking deal I was getting for my diesel ($70k trade in after only paying $64k new 7 months prior and with 14,000 miles and an extensive service history repair list). This allowed me to order the truck I got and so I had to soldier on with it for an other few thousand miles up to 12,000 before shipping it down the road. 2022 Silverado 2500 LT, crew cab, short bed Z71 with the 6.6 L8T gas engine and 6 speed transmission. This is the type of truck I had went to look at in 2020 when I got the diesel but it hadn’t come in to the dealer yet. I ordered this one though and it’s mostly exactly what I wanted within my budget price. There’s a few things today I wish I would have got then (bucket seats, sunroof) but oh well. It is my favorite that I have ever had. It’s red too. It’s been so far completely trouble free. I’m over 50k miles at this point. Again, so far so good.
Love my 2016 Silverado 1500 LT/Z71 as well. Drove it off the lot with 15 miles on it, sitting at 152k miles now. Vacuum pump is the only time it’s ever been in the shop for anything other than regular maintenance. Keeping it to hand down to my son when he turns 16. Have a 21 GMC 2500 AT4 Duramax as well, luckily haven’t had the check engine light issue you had with your 2020. Have 61K miles on it, been in the shop for a sensor and DEF tank replacement though.
@@MrJRD2009 nice. I think my 2020 Duramax ultimately had a bad ECM. That’s what they replaced about 3 weeks before I traded it. And after replacing that the light hadn’t came back on. That was a record for it too believe it or not lol. Previously it hadn’t made it 2 weeks without it coming on. It gave me an emissions warning one time too and a countdown to reduced speed but that cleared up on its on. The stored code was for the DEF pump. So I don’t know. It was an awesome truck but I was sick of seeing that check engine light.
I believe every word of it. I am no loyal follower of anything, because personally, I think all trucks are poorly made. I sat last night signing for my 2024 Power Boost at a Ford dealership and said that exact thing to the finance manager. Don't get me wrong, I like the truck but I don't expect to even get 10 years out of it. I made that mistake with my 14 All Terrain Sierra, it pretty much needs a whole new power train, engine, front diff, trans are all failing at only 180K. Everything is built to fail these days...
im sorry if you are looking for a perfect truck never going to happen i to am older and older than you and like you have had many vehicles and brands gas and diesel i have new one today but not perfect but gets the job done i have been broke down with every brand if you drive long enough it will happen! good informational videos!
bought 7 trucks since 2019 and not one of them had any issues, knock on wood......know a few guys that have had major issues with vehicles and others who never have life is trip
Appreciate all your feedback on trucks. Hoping my 23 super duty 7.3 holds up. Got 20,000 on it and all is well. Knock on wood.
Same here, 2023 7.3L XLT gasser. All good so far 21,000 miles and zero issues. Hopefully I can go 210,000 with no issues.. lol
Appreciate the time you put into these tests and videos as well as the perspective you provide
Very good and informative video! Thank you for being a straight shooter and telling it like it is!
Keep it up duder, you’re doing a great job 🤘🏻
Good truck info. It is difficult to figure out what to blame problem trucks on.
My current 6.2 ford has been the best one yet. Even though everyone on the internet talks total trash on em.
Ditto! I’ve had my 17 F250 6.2 for six years, tow a fifth wheel all over CO and a snowmobile trailer in the winter. Zero issues outside of regular maintenance.
The 6.2 is a very good engine. Had one in a 19 F350. No issues. The internet is full of misleading content.

If the power line 8 speed gets out behind the Cummins for 2025 that could be a great next review vehicle!

“Objective” is the key. So man reviewers are bought and paid for…
