2024 Polestar 2 Review: Precision Machine

- Seeing the 2024 Polestar 2 hit me with a modern twist to nostalgia. Although the side profile reminds me of an Audi Coupe, it still has a lot of Volvo language to make up a beautiful looking fastback. The Snow color had a metallic finish which brought the white to life. With the 2 being a full EV, you’ll see some of the typical EV designs for the sake of efficiency. The front grille is very minimal, the wheels are flat designed, and the mirrors were a tad small for my liking. I did like the label of the front radar as well as the powertrain label on the door.
Getting in the Polestar 2, you’re greeted with a minimalist design. The design did have a lot to offer though. The 2’s door had incredible fit and finish with premium feeling materials. Sitting in the 2 was an experience that was difficult to explain. I’ve never felt such a perfect seat in any vehicle. I didn’t have any pressure points as the seat felt like it was molded to my spine and I felt a sense of weightlessness. Unfortunately I was unimpressed with the fact that the Polestar 2 does not offer wireless Apple CarPlay. Even though this is a 4-door car, the rear space is on the tight side.
Driving the Polestar 2 was not your typical EV torque monster. This was the single motor configuration, so the dual motor may provide you with that typical EV experience. This will sound out of character for me, but I preferred to have less power. It made drivability a lot more enjoyable without worrying of overpowering my driving skills. The Polestar 2’s chassis was extremely rewarding and sporty, so be aware that if you’re looking for a comfortable ride, you’ll want to look elsewhere.
If you’re looking for a compact and sporty EV, you’ll want to consider the 2024 Polestar 2 at the top of your list.
The headlights issue is the same with all modern cars - white lights in the 6000 kelvin spectrum - no good in the rain. Old school halogen headlight work better because their longer wavelength works better.
The Polestar 2 looks like what happens when Volvo decides to build a Saab 900 and electfy it. I like it, the PS2 is on my short list of EVs to buy, but I so wish Saab was still here to make EVs.
You know what, you nailed it with that statement lol. If you want a driver's car that's an EV, get this.
If you previously selected the 360 view, it will remember and show it when you back up etc. But yes, it would be nice with both 360 and rear camera view. Btw. you can get to the turn-car-off menu by long pressing the play button; double pressing it skips to the next song.
Thanks for that detail. I had read the play button showed the menu but I didnt realize it was a long press. Do you own a Polestar 2?
Another way to open the trunk is to use the kick gesture.

I think that’s Magnesium not Snow
@@podge5555 You are correct. It is in face Magnesium. I was checking on the site when i was editing and it shows Magnesium as a way darker grey than the car I had. That's when I figured it was Snow. I just double checked the window paper we get and it is super tiny and away from the regular areas where companies put their color. So you are indeed correct that it is Magnesium and it is such a subtle but great looking color. Thanks for watching!
Was all ready to order a Model 3, but sadly Tesla is forever a Do Not Buy which is super disappointing.
This I suspect is close enough to what is still the class leader.

I agree the black looks really badass! I did go with Magnesium myself. This was the standard color, and I think this car looks great in every color!
I have the 19-inch wheels as well. They are quieter and give you a better range than the 20-inch. I also think they look good, unlike some other cars where only the biggest wheels are good-looking.
The sidewall was already pretty small on the 19". I can only imagine on the 20" and honestly, I think the 19" look great for the size of the 2. Thanks for watching.

Good tips! (The car you feature is not a base model, BTW. It is a "Plus.") When you are in a tight spot (e.g. a driveway with a fence on one side, house on the other), the 3D view kicks in automagically. I still think Volvo/Polestar are a bit behind VW with ergonomics (although the EX 30 designers are doing pretty well it seems); storage is limited in the cabin & I hope the cool little sunglass holder I had in my C-30 will be available as an extra (it replaces the driver side handhold).

On a test drive, I can see the prints of sweaty bums on the Weavetech... Polestar has to do better...
