    • @DaniilKarz
      @DaniilKarz  Месяц назад +1

      Thanks. Imho, GPAs aren't directly comparable across different schools. Some students may have lower grades but still rank high among their peers. Admissions committees want to see evidence of academic ability, and a higher GPA can be one indicator of that. However, there are other ways to improve admission chances, such as through projects, international competitions, and other relevant activities

      I'm afraid that I may not be the right person to answer your question, as I'm not a bachelor's student. However, here is some generic advice I can offer.
      CS at EPFL is probably one of the best CS programs. It will teach you strong foundations and give you the chance to branch out into many other fields later (if you want). Having knowledge of Python is already a great plus, and familiarity with C++ is also beneficial, as there are many students who know only Matlab, even at the master's level (which isn't bad, but companies are more eager to see experience with languages like Python, etc).
      Keep in mind that it's a top school and admission may be quite competitive. Definitely worth a try.
      Though, I can't say too much about the bachelor's program, don't be shy to shoot your department an email with any questions (I did it several times).

    • @legstar67
      @legstar67 5 месяцев назад +3

      hey i am currently in my first year of bachelor in computer science at EPFL.
      Firstly if you want to do CS studies , yes take this bachelor (or you can take System of communication , both are exactly the same the first year and at the end of first year you can change)
      Secondly , for theses bachelor you don't need knowlegde in CS before begining, they start from 0. Btw in most other bachelor at epfl you study the C++ the first year, but in computing you study Java. (ofc knowing a few basics first helps)
      And to finish i see that you asked for the price of the food, here on the compus if you want to eat at the canteens or food trucks it's about 8-10 fr. Personnaly like a lot of people i bring food i have cooked myself.

    • @DaniilKarz
      @DaniilKarz  4 месяца назад

      @kcnl2522 Hey! I'm not really sure that one can. For most students, there is a 15 hour limit per week for work in the industry; you will be allowed to work only part time if you're taking courses. However, it's sometimes not the case for work in a lab. Also, students often take a 6 month break to do an internship and then go back to studies

    Hey, I know its a very very silly question to ask and sometime may seem like a disrespect. But I'm literally dying inside for wasting my bechalors.
    I would like to ask that do you see any people got accepted into EPFL (especially engineering) with no research paper and mid gpa like 80%-90%?
    And I'm sorry for asking the question. Would be greatful if you reply. Have a good day man.

    • @DaniilKarz
      @DaniilKarz  2 месяца назад +2

      @thoseeyes0 Hi there!
      It’s quite common for students not to have a research paper before or even during their master’s program. A GPA of around 80-90% is generally fine. As long as you can demonstrate your ability to study effectively, you should be ok. It’s also worth noting that GPAs can vary significantly across different schools, so a 90% GPA might not always be directly comparable.
      While having an indexed paper is definitely a great advantage, you can improve your application in many other ways. Engaging in programming projects is especially relevant for engineering. Participating in hackathons, competitions, and Olympiads can also be beneficial. Among all these, I believe your SOP is the most crucial. You need to convince the reader of your potential and skills.
      Good luck!

    What's the cost of living per student in Lausanne?

    • @DaniilKarz
      @DaniilKarz  8 месяцев назад +2

      Check this resource out: www.epfl.ch/education/studies/en/financing-study/
      You should also keep in mind that it depends heavily on the person. The main spending per month typically goes on housing and food. The housing options vary depending on location, type (room, studio, flat), and whether it's only for students (like dorms) or private. The same goes for food. You may cook for yourself or often eat in cafes. Some people can spend around the number on the website alone on food, but I knew a pair who spent only around half as much for two. It depends on many factors: if you eat a lot of meat, dairy, and sweet stuff, which are typically more expensive. Again, the choice of shops matters. Aldi and Lidl are considered to be cheaper. Migros is slightly more costly but the quality seems to be notably better, imho. Coop is next but usually has a wider range of veggies and stuff.
