- The DJI Zenmuse X5 Series marks the next evolution of aerial camera technology. The Zenmuse X5 and Zenmuse X5R are designed to work seamlessly with the DJI Inspire 1, so that you’re ready to fly and capture professional-level footage in seconds. The large Micro Four Thirds sensor in the Zenmuse X5 Series cameras captures incredibly detailed 16 megapixel photos and 4K video. The Zenmuse X5R also records lossless 4K video in CinemaDNG RAW format and comes with a 512GB mini-SSD drive for media storage.
The Zenmuse X5 Series uses an M4/3 mount that lets you easily change lenses. At introduction, there are two lenses to choose from: an f/1.7 15mm wide angle lens and an f/2.0 12mm ultra-wide angle lens.
Using the DJI GO app, you can see a live HD view and control aperture and focus. Through the close integration of our best products, we make it possible for creators to focus on capturing their own vision of the world. With the Zenmuse X5 Series, it looks better than ever before

Hi, is it possible to capture what the camera does, to repeat it over and over again. I mean flight + camera movement? Inspire 1 pro Raw
What is the impact on maximum flight time with the additional weight and I suppose higher power consumption for the x5?
Please can we now implement the focus pulling technique on every other camera? you don't need expensive external solutions, simple slider that controls internal motors. DJI are amazing
You can probably use Panasonic 14-42mm PZ lens which is power zoom, means controlling from controller is possible

OMG...this is ridiculous, you just changed the game big time DJI! 4K RAW on a MFT camera for a drone? Take my money, this might even be good as an A camera! It's basically a GH4 with RAW, how amazing is that?

Question time, is it 12 bit raw?, can you do time-lapse with it, if not could firmware fix this? if so this is a killer camera, i would love to use it as my travel camera with the osmo, if someone made some type of underwater housing for this i would be in heaven, the next step would finding the money to get it.

Jon Ishitani No way. I think it will cost slightly more than the price of a new Phantom 3 Pro though. I estimate the 1,500 range.
DroneDude exactly I'm thinking the same thing. It's no top of the line dslr quality but I'm sure it's within the mid range and the gimbal probably cost half of the price. 1500 is reasonably a good price, most people saying 2500+ if I had to pay even close to that amount I may as well sell the drone.

Awesome ! Now, only if DJi start working on proper control system to prevent the all too common " Runaway " drone syndrome or start providing their own insurance. Not many insurance companies consider replacing runaway drones even with hefty premiums for drone insurance.

Amazing!! But I still can't understand why do they put a 16MP sensor in a video camera which they position as professional? 4K requires only 8MP! Is it only just for taking better photos? I don't get it...
+pav2k actually 4k requires 12mp in 4:3 ratio. and why not? 16mp for images!
+pav2k I agree, it would make for a cleaner image if the sensor was 8 or 12MP, like a 12MP Sony a7s shows compared to a 24MP a7. DJI probably just went with the most common sensor on the m43 market to save on research costs.

+EASkateTV It gives you the choice of a different focal length. I know that was one thing I didn't like about most drones now. You were stuck with an ultra wide angle shot.
+Micah Foster I don't know many people in the professional field that use zooms. I'd suggest buy a few small light primes 12mm, 20mm, 35mm
Sorry, misunderstanding. I wasn't meaning zooms, I meant different focal lengths. A 50mm IS and 85mm IS lens would be nice for farther shots. The main thing is Image Stabilization. Right now, though, this camera is only compatible with 3 lenses. Probably in the future they'll make it compatible with some longer ones. Cheers!

+steadiworkz What are you talking about? This is easily a high end system. Most Pros shoot aerial footage on a A7s nowadays. Shooting Raw surpasses that without the need of a Shogun. How many people are flying Alexas and Reds? Not many. Its not worth the risk when you can a great picture with a GH4 or A7s.

Ok, and I am still waiting to hear what the data transfer speed is. This is one of the biggest issues with the original camera. It's all very well having a bigger sensor and all the bells and whistles, but unless they have addressed this very important aspect, then I'll pass (I'm afraid.)
