If anyone wants to know what the "absolute best" gaffer tape is, it's called Shurtape P-691, and, depending on width, it costs $60 - $100 per roll. Minimum order from any retailer is $1,000 - $2,000. Now that you know that, you can stop spending all day researching "best gaffer tape," because you can't afford it. Having said that - I've already spent MY day doing this research, and here are the results:
P-691 = 12.25 mil (high adhesion, high tensile)
P-672 = 12 mil (medium adhesion, high tensile)
P-665W = 11 mil (high adhesion, low tensile)
Pro Gaff = 11 mil (low adhesion, low tensile)
Gaffer Power = 11 mil (low adhesion, low tensile)
P-628 = 10.75 mil (low adhesion, low tensile)
As you can see, Pro Gaff and Gaffer Power have copied the P-665W form factor from Shurtape. That is to say, an 11 mil thickness, a low tensile (=50lbs), and a low tack (=75 oz/in) is the standard for gaffer tape. The 665W actually has a higher adhesion (80 oz/in). In fact, I haven't found a gaffer tape with a higher adhesion than that. The only difference between the 665W and the 691 is that the 691 also has a high (70lb) tensile strength. Both are rated for at least 180 deg F. I did an experiment a few years ago in Los Angeles where I monitored the interior/cabin temperature in my car for a week during the summer, and it peaked at 158*! That means any tape that's only rated for 150* is going to either come unstuck or turn to goo if left in a a hot car/bus/storage locker all day.
    In conclusion:
    1. 691 is top tier, and costs $60
    2. 665W is second tier, and costs $30
    3. Pro Gaff and Gaffer Power are third tier, and cost $15
    4. Anything cheaper is probably shit tier
P.s., Shurtape is used extensively in the Aerospace industry, which I used to work in. I'm an engineer if you couldn't tell... I have no affiliation with the film industry, but it seems that your non-mathematical, opinion-based method of asking "which tape is best" is not going to get you any definitive answers.
EDIT - The figures I quoted are all direct from shurtape.com. I've noticed, however, that the numbers are COMPLETELY different on Shurtape's Amazon listings. I don't know how to figure out which numbers are correct. You'll probably have to contact them and ask for a datasheet to know the truth.
EDIT #2: I read somewhere online that Pro Gaff "Professional" is the same as P-672. It's hard to keep up with all the corporate takeovers, but I'm pretty sure that all things Pro Gaff or Permacell fall under the umbrella of Shurtape. The only unaffiliated outlier is Gaffer Power.

I was gunna mention Shurtape (used to be ‘Permacel’)! This is spot on...except “Best” is subjective to use...P691 would likely be much to strong for most industry use thats meant to be temporary, in that situation a low tack, high strength is ideal...which is why supply has shelves FULL of P665 in every imaginable color w/ smaller quantities of the others.
Use P724 (paper) & C27 (artist/painters) a lot in the art department.... tho plenty of pro-gaff ends up in the wrap carts by the end since ppl forget to clip rolls after taping cable runs.
Can find it for around $19-$20 per roll from some smaller AV/Music sources w/ online shops (still have to order bulk tho). Its been awhile, but I think we paid around $19 per 3” roll on volunteer (non-union) job last year.

Supply calls P672 extreme weather gaff... only used when temps are either extremely hot or cold- otherwise its overkill.

I've been using 3M 6910 which use to be available at OSH hardward in LA, I recently bout Hosa Technology in Las Vegas since it was more available only to find that it is not the same, and that's why I'm here on this youtube channel to compare the difference.

Interestingly, the Gaffer Power tape made a different sound than the ProGaff when you removed it. ProGaff removal sounds VERY familiar, like it's just let go and you're not going to get it to stick to anything but itself again, ever. I wonder how the Gaffer Power stuff acts after removal.

So what's the difference between pro gaff and gaffer power?? Nice video but I didn't hear any comparison on the sticky side

How will this tape react if you tape something inside a car and leave it for say a year or more inside a car exposed to hot summers semi-cold winters? Will it be mucky like duct tape with residue that doesn't come off unless scrubbed with strong solvent?

Nice video. Ive been using Gaffer Power since I became AV director for our church. Good quality tape and excellent customer service. Probably wont use anything else.

Sounds like an honorable gig. I like the compact rolls that Pro-Gaff makes, Just because they take up less space in a drawer, but i still use gaffer power just as much. It's good stuff.

Ive been using the cheapest gaffers tape I could find on eBay. It is matte, sticks very well and leaves zero residue. It was $9 for a large roll.

I absolutely agree, and I really enjoyed this video, great work.
However I do have one piece of advice. Get some room audio, it doesn't seem like a big deal but if you have background audio to lay your footage over, the video will sound much more fluid and continuous.
It's not strictly necessary since it sounds like your filming in a daily quite place. Though you can hear at 0:17 when you cut the audio. Here's an excellent video about room tone.
