  • This is a walk through of what I consider now my 'main' notebook. While my filofax is for work, appointments, scheduling etc, my Fauxdori is for throwing in all sorts of stuff. It's still a work in progress while I figure out what works best for me but I currently have the following inserts:
Sketch book (a cut-down Seawhites cahier) for out and about/urban sketching rather than art journaling (will last about 2 months each)
Journal (DIY lined) for written journaling and photos. It's fast becoming what I was looking for with Project Life and scrapbooking actually, and I have much more I want to include. (will last 1-2 months each) I will be trying Midori Refill No 013 Lightweight Paper when it's finished
Blank notebook (cut down Moleskine cahier) for longer term notes etc.
Midori zipper file & 2 long pockets Refill No 008
Kraft style insert (DIY) similar to Midori Refill No 020 (Both purchased from The Journal Shop, UK
I have a Midori lightweight insert to try and I also want to try out the sketch booklet. If I like them I'll keep using them, if not I'll stick with DIY and Seawhites/Moleskine.
The books themselves are 21cm tall by 11cm wide, (almost 8x8 opened out), which is my perfect size for journaling and scrapbooking.
I don't use anything 'formal' like colour coding in here. If it needs to be coded it gets transferred out to the personal filofax. I do line my edges with washi tape for important pages so they're easy to find though.

How detailed, how pretty, how interesting, how very practical, usable, and how wonderful. Thank you, Rhomany.

It's made such a difference. I can rewatch the last 5 minutes of the last one I saw and know exactly where I'm up to. Before I'd have two hours to watch a show and spent 40 minutes of it trying to figure out which bits I'd seen and which I hadn't!

We do the same, we watch series in batches and sometimes will see five episodes in one go and then not go back to the same series for weeks on end. It helps keeping track. So I just write down the title, the season, put 1 through however many and then cross out what we've watched.

Your videos are wonderful. My Midori will be here today and I cannot wait to get hand making my refills outta yellow legal paper. Feel like a little kid at Christmas.

Loved your idea for holding the pen. I think I will use it on my fauxmidori also.

Great video. Loved the pen holder idea. Was going to make a pen quiver but your idea is better.

I think it's to do with the tension, because with less in it doesn't happen. Also, mine is way too thick. It doesn't both me too much though, I still love it :)

I made my own fauxdori as well and it also puckers at the top. Not sure if it is because the leather is thinner, tension is too tight, or I placed the holes for elastic are too high compared to my inserts. I measured properly so go figure. Love your vids!!

Hi there. your fauxdori looks really great and used. I have been wanting to make one too but i am having trouble finding leather. I don't want to buy like a huge chunk of leather for $100 and over. I just need a little piece around as big as midori size. Where did you get your leather? if you don't mind me asking

Ebay or your local craft or leather store is your best bet. Depends where you live.

I'm curious. Did you ever get around to trying the light paper midori insert? I just recently got a midori and I'm trying to decide which inserts work the best. Thanks!
