    Summary - Take home points:
1/5) Don´t rely on one single strategy
    2) Choose few markets/papers/index do trade. (´cause all have different behaviors)
    3) News release (avoid trading during de major ones)
    4) Transaction costs (must be take in account)
    5) Stress (must be taken in account)

Regardless of the ability of some people to scalp successfully, the majority of new or intermediate traders want to scalp because of lack of patience, trading of 4h or daily can be very boring but also very rewarding, also it takes the emotions out of the game.

The spread and commission isn't bad at all. Looking for one or two trades. Sometimes you'll just take one great trade and be straight. Like 10-30 pips from a big lot be banking! And it compounds much faster. Totally agree.

I found scalping very difficult & stressful. The shorter the timeframe, the lower the profit potential, and the more impact the spread has. Also you are right in the middle of the fight between buyers and sellers, and the dominant force shifts quickly. Thank you Rayner for telling the truth about scalping. In a strongly trending market, scalping is easier, but then it's preferable to hold the position longer and incur less spread.

@JustAGuy InBensalem There is lots of content on YT about swing trading, but basically it's a trading style over a longer time period, with wider stops and targets. The upside is it feels less pressured, but the downside is holding an overnight position if the market gaps against you the following day. Just need to figure out what trading technique suits your lifesyle really!

I scalp live almost everyday on my channel.
Scalping is stressful, scalping is difficult, here are my tips for it
Don't scale in, you see a signal get in with your full position size. You want to be full position if your are right and when you are not you want to lose the money quickly so you can move on. You're not thinking about holding your full position for 10 points to add on higher, but if you were holding half of 1/4 it your position. You may hold on to add on higher it buy lower, when you do this your are ignoring what the market is trying to tell you. Scalps will usually go your way right away you shouldn't be thinking to hold and scale in. All or nothing.. What this also forces you to do is trade your a+ set ups because it's very painful to be wrong, you will do what you can do avoid the trade and you will learn faster when scalping because you can get so many looks at the market. Making fast decisions will help you look at charts and instantly know what to do.
    My last tip
Take breaks, when you take a piece out of the market, take a break, walk away for 10-20 minutes, go for a walk play video games, get into a different mindset, this will allow you to think about why the scalp worked and it will lower stress. When/if you decide to sit back down, just go for that next scalp, repeat.
Scalping is like any other skill, it can be learned and it can be improved.
Every trader should know how to scalp, you can look at a chart and most days find plenty of scalp trades your baby fund swings or even medium trends every day, you have to be able to trade short moves and when you get good at it, occasionally you'll see a set up so good, you can get 4-5 bars it if, but in the beginnings focus on taking one bar to 2 bars in logical high probability locations.
Don't go crazy, go to the micro emini with just 10% of your account and practice scalping, you will thank you me later.

I wouldn't recommend scalping as a beginner. BUT if you're dead set on trying out scalping, I'd recommend reading Bob Volman's "Forex Price Action Scalping" book and trying out some of the patterns in there on a demo account for a while (it's not an easy read, but it contains great info). Then once you're getting a positive expectancy after backtesting and forward-testing each setup on a demo account, move to a real account with tiny position sizes.

  • @andresouza508

I think you misunderstand the concept. Scalping does not have to be a fast in and out trade. It is how you read the market and enter your positions with the intent of not accepting your position to go against too many ticks ... but see you can read the flow enter a position because you fell protected and if goes your way you can protect the position fast and let it run until you fell that the market is changing.. and depending on volatility and how much big traders want to protect their position and need to urgently enter the market.. you can ride positions for a long time. Scalping is way more than just in an out fast.

I feel people are built for different styles of trading.. some traders will do better on higher timeframes trading a strategy that lets them slowly analyze the trade and then set the target and stop loss, however some will do better on lower timeframes scalping the market reacting on the fly to price fluctuations.
But I do agree.. it's definitely not easy to do and without proper respect for scalping, can be detrimental to a traders account.

But the thing is... I dont know in which timeframe should I focus on
    5min? 10min?
And when/where should I focus (pullbacks, trends etc.)??
    Any suggestions?

Maybe you should try trade pullback on lower tf within trend of higher tf

....Indicators are laggers not leaders of price. There are also multiple scalping methods not 1. 1) High Momentum 2) High Volume Reversal 3) Range Tape Scalp. Also, Mean reversion is an illusion when it comes to Markets. Price doesn't revert to the mean, the mean reverts to the price.

Scalping being fast paced and stressful is exactly what I like about it... I always do better when I can just focus on the moment and not overthink things. I'm not an overly emotional person, meaning if I lose money I was already prepared to lose it.
People entering the market with money they can't afford to lose and the mindset that they need to make money is far too common, or at least with the idea it's easy and they should be doubling their money every week. I blame the countless YT videos I've seen with titles like "How I learned to scalp and made X in a month". I've seen a lot of comments from people talking about they've been doing it a whole 2 months and are losing money, asking what they're doing wrong and why aren't they making money yet...

Im coming to same conclusion, with swing trading I can’t make up my mind over 10 good charts, scalping makes me make a quick decision, and eliminates over analyses

First trade in pdax i lost 112 dollars. When i went to binance I lost 15 dollars. All lf those loss are from spot trading. But, when I tried scalping in binance i just earn 12 dollars yesterday & 26dollars earlier (it's just about 1hr trade). Lesson, choose the right tading style the fits to your abilities. I think spot trading is not for me, cuz I remember last month in my first trade I can predict the movement of the market really well but it's not enough for the fees hahaha & i still hold it even I already see that it will bearish. Stup!d!!!

To Siboniso Msane: Swing trading is good; this grooms you to consider well-groomed stocks in the marketplace with different criteria and possibilities. If you do consider day trading, you will know that you don't chase and hold over junk. If you accidentally hold over, at least, you will have a good company to hope for.

But if you’re only trying to use about 2% of your account in a single trade… and let’s say you use a 1:1 ratio… wouldn’t your take profit and stop loss stay the same whether you are scalping or swing trading? If I’m only betting 100 dollars regardless.

Hi, i have a question regards to scalping/intraday trading. When you trade with a intraday strategy/swing. Maybe in one whole week you can get 150-200 pips in total (if one is lucky and keeps winning every trade), but the fact is that even the best traders loose also. But with scalping you can get 150-200 in just one day if done correctly, even with losses. So how can swing/intraday trading be more efficient if someone wants to grow his account faster?
I can understand that if someone really understands the market and buys trades with multiple standard lots maybe (10-15 standard lot) then 200 pips will be a lot, but when having a small account and one can’t use more than mini lot or 0,5 standard lot maximum, then for a week 200 pips doesn’t seem to be a lot to grow an account fast?
