  • As America’s premier particle physics and accelerator laboratory, #Fermilab has demanding needs to stay on the forefront of science and technology.
The Information Technology Division at Fermilab is the centralized hub for IT at the lab supporting our science and business needs. They deploy and maintain thousands of hardware devices, numerous on-premises and cloud applications and a world-class network and computing infrastructure to keep our business systems and experiments running smoothly. This allows our colleagues to stay focused on Fermilab’s mission to uncover the mysteries of matter, energy, space and time.
We’ll go behind the scenes with members of the team to explore how IT solves problems in support of advancing Fermilab’s mission every day.

Keeping computers and technology systems running smoothly is always vital. People go crazy if their internet is down for more than five minutes.

Happened today, our power went out for a few minutes and I started thinking about life and such, it was horrible. Luckily, the power came back.

Have you tried turning it off and on again? Or if its the quantum computer have you tried turning it off and on at the same time?

Lovely video. 😊I appreciate videos like this that showcase people who wake up in the morning with the mission to "support science". There are lots us out there, and it means a lot to us that we get to do our part.

What OS do you run? What software do you use? What programming language is the data analysis used? What database software do you use?

The people call on Fermilab, CERN, and ITER to cease public activities until such time as the wars in Ukraine and Israel have ceased. If people can't stop the train of money that leads to war, then we need to start to demand better from public education in terms of anti-war activism. Immediately. Thank you.

Are there layoff rumors at the data center? Is that why this video was made?!

Why? At the end they ask the interested viewers to join them.

It is hard to see how these IT services differ from what any large corp would have. I dont see the point of offering this video in this channel, where presumably the audience is interested in science not operations that are not unusual or specific to scientific needs. If there are too many of these type of videos it dilutes the value of the channel and at least for me would cause me to unsubscribe.

i disagree, in that i found this vid and their job site interesting, however, i agree that too many of these types of videos will reduce my interest in this channel

I clicked on this video because I thought I would hear some science - not a propaganda piece.

Cool video, but you guys are giving away a LOT of information: internally used products, accounts, architecture, naming schemes, Kerberos (kdc.conf/krb5.conf @ 2:15)
