Sadly, this song barely got air play in the US back then. I don't understand it. This was one of the best songs of 1991! Even today, it still stands up on its own. Top Class.
this is a classic,my mate is playing the drums on this video. He was a support drummer and played on about 6 gigs. Can't beleive this was on here! Well done for posting this.
I remember the release of this and wasn’t that impressed with it tbh. Now I think it’s a masterpiece - and It never clicked because it truly was kind of ahead of it’s time - for me anyway.
They finally got the Band's name correct. Been watching old totp from 1991 & they seemed to think the band was just called Massive whenever they introduced Unfinished Sympathy.
This intentional on the band’s part. When this album was famous the Gulf War was happening and they wanted to avoid the connotations of violence in the word _Attack_ so they shortened it to _Massive_ for a short while. It would be like _Jefferson Airplane_ being huge around 9/11 and taking the word _Airplane_ outta their name for a while 😂.
Thats Good Music Right There Word Up. Im From The Bronx New York USA ANd I Know Good Music When I Hear It. Sadly I Should've Been Heard This Back In 91'. If I Would Have Heard It Back Then, I Would've Been Representing It. But Here We Are And Im Representing It Now.!
This is a very slightly different edit than is on the physical formats: that brief pause before the final chorus at the end is not like that in any other version
Massive attack played a huge part in my life……Shara Nelson will forever own this track❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
nah ,nel naja will

I loved it straight away, but unlike now there was just so much other good stuff around as well.

Google why they had to change their name to massive...
Cos the Gulf War was going on at the time & to have a band with Attack in their name was naturally deemed insensitive. Of course it makes sense.
They literally were called Massive briefly. The “attack” part was seen as too violent during the Gulf War.
This intentional on the band’s part. When this album was famous the Gulf War was happening and they wanted to avoid the connotations of violence in the word _Attack_ so they shortened it to _Massive_ for a short while.

фанера :D
its unfortunate but it seems they are miming
absolutely!!
You literally couldn't sing live on that show, some artists had to really fight for it, most just were not allowed
It’s TOTP. Nobody ever played live on it, the studio was literally not set up for live shows. Most bands HATED mimimg along.
New Order did.
Unbelievable that still in the 90s playback were being used so openly.
This was literally done by everyone on TOTP. It why most serious bands hated it. Check the first Nirvana appearance, it’s them taking the pi$$
