I found this video for the exact same reason. But it wad the head rest fabric. I wanted to make sure mine looked normal. It's super clean but I had realized it has been a year since last deep cleaning it.
Also you're so brave for putting your hand under that seat. I was gagging the whole time and seeing the little compartment was sickening.

Those plastic bands are a pain. Pulled so hard on them that I thought there needs to be a trick. Seeing the vid made me less afraid of braking it, so I noticed that pulling upward made it jump out, yay! Thx for the vid, will rewatch for assembly lol

such a bummer that the bottom plastic piece of this car seat cant be removed. my daughter had an awful spit up in this car seat and its impossible to clean the inner part of the base where im certain puke dripped down into. BUT THANKS FOR THIS VIDEO SO HELPFUL!:)

The lower anchor strap must be in front of the crotch buckle strap per the manual (page 44).

This was a super helpful video HOWEVER I just wanted you to be aware you cannot use just any soap and you can’t use fabric softener at all. Mild soap is all Graco (and most other companies allow). Super scented soaps and fabric softeners break down the material and can compromise the integrity of the seat. Graco will tell you to most likely tell you to discontinue use of the seat if you have used cleaning solutions or anything other than mild soap and water to clean your seat.
Than you so much for watching! And that's really good to know because I had no idea. My manual does not specify that. All it says is to wash in cold water and to not use bleach.

I am curious though. If we can only use mild soap, why say it's machine washable? My manual did say the seat cover is washable

So we cannot remove the harness straps from this seat? My older grace 3 in 1 seats the straps came off super easy. I’d like to wash the puke off of these ones too from my car sick son 😐

Forgetting to show putting the straps back in hooks at the end made me take it back apart twice to find the straps that you mentioned going back to look after that step should have been completely

Per the manual you aren't allowed to use fabric softener . Only a mild detergent .
I believe I said to follow the instructions for the seat you have but this is just what I do. Also, the one I have only says to wash in cold water on a delicate cycle and to not use bleach. It doesn't say anything about fabric softener or only using a mild detergent. Could you have a different seat maybe?
Is there a way to remove the seat belts/straps?
I believe you can because they say to replace them if they get frayed or heavily soiled. But I honestly haven't figured out how.
I need to figure out how to get them off! My son gets car sick. I can’t clean them well enough with out washing them in the machine!
@rachel I still haven’t figured it out. My daughter gets car sick too. I’ve been putting those extra large towel bibs on her + a silicone bib.
@@daintytoober I tried removing the back panel and instead of having a metal "splitter" (like other gracos I've seen videos on) the two straps are just attached to a single loop with no way to remove them. It appears they can be removed from the bottom of the seat but you can't reach your hand in there. I think the only way may be unscrewing and disassembling the entire bottom part of the seat.

Oh no! I haven't figured out how to get them off. I usually use a wipe or a wet microfiber cloth.
I don't understand how car seats get so dirty! I need to clean the ones in my car too!
I let my kids eat in there, which is a big part of it. But it's also how they get in their seat, they usually climb into the seat with their dirty shoes.

Can you take straps off for cleaning?
I have not found a way to take the straps off. I personally use baby wipes or a mild all purpose cleaner with a microfiber cloth to clean the straps.
@@lifeastracimarie4352 I feel like if I was to take the back panel off I will loose the integrity of the car seat being safe. That's the only flaw about this car seat I have. I have 2 of them one for my 2 year old and one for my 6 month old

There is some incorrect information in this video. You can not use any harness chemicals on this seat at all. No all purpose cleaner, fabric softener or Lysol can be used. Please refer to your manual when cleaning.
