Callers are divided on whether this audio should be played or not, Opie, Anthony and Jimmy defend them playing it. A dumb caller wants a t-shirt, she wraps up the show for us.

I've listened to the entire tape before, it's dead chilling. It takes a while, but he actually slowly wears down their wills enough that they do what he' telling them to.
They get really hung up on killing the children, that's the worst. Again, just listening to their resolve slowly weaken until they really believe they're doing the kids a kindness.

Caller at 52:00 is wrong about how cyanide affects the human body. Cyanide kills you because it stops one step in the mitochondrian electron transport chain. The electron transport chain uses oxygen to create ATP, but the "road" the electron travels to oxygen it blocked off by the cyanide. ATP is the energy currency of your body, and without it you cannot process energy, your brain won't work, etc. Everything requires ATP. No electron transport chain = no life. Even bacteria that live in environments where no oxygen is present (anaerobic) use an electron transport chain, with another molecule besides oxygen.
Just another example of a caller who has no fucking clue what he/she is talking about.

That's nonsense, and there have been plenty of times that Jimmy's has admitted to being wrong. The thing is, he's exactly right a lot of the time because he tries not to open his mouth and spout pure opinions when he doesn't know much about the topic; instead, he becomes more involved when it comes to things he's well-versed in.

If you want to truly feel creeped out, the documentary that better explains all this is on youtube. This audio just makes me feel empty inside. After watching the documentary, I couldn't stop feeling upset about it for a while.

I love that a fan of theirs calls in, has a complaint, and they are just like '"I fucking hate this guy!" and yell at him for a good while. They are mostly right, the caller should have stuck to "you guys are making fun of it!" But he only mentions that once and the rest of his complaints are bullshit.

They barely scratched the surface with the final tape on the show. The entire recording is under 'The Jonestown Death Tape' on RUclips. His wife was brutal...telling the crowd that the children are just crying because the 'punch' is somewhat bitter, and to proceed to administer it calmly before taking their own.
That was Maria Katsaris saying that, not Marceline Jones. Maria was one of Jones’ “brain trust.”
She was fighting for the kids lives. Jim is on tape calling her mother and to just drink the poison and lay down with the kids.

The callers who say the kids being made fun of are just flat out wrong. What's on the tape is horrible but it's important to never forget the past. I like that O&A tackle serious issues on the show, especially "sensitive" issues.

I don't have anything against mocking the Jonestown incident but the way Jim and Ant handled alot of these callers was very irritating, These are the same guys who got punked out by Sarah Jessica Parker. Plus Ant let Piers Morgan run all over him in their brief gun debate. They can't take direct pressure unless it's over something farcical.
Very true. They seem to have a meltdown immediatley if someone with some backbone argues with them. Ant's tirade about being glad they are all dead was total BS (meaning he himself doesn't believe what he said) and pretty much a knee-jerk reaction to somebody calling them out on acting like sound clips with kids being poisoned and dying in the background is no big deal. And trying to compare it to some 911 sound bytes of buildings falling down and people panicking was a joke. The full tape is really hard to sit through, especially with the kids. You could tell that it agonized these people to do it, but they did it anyway. Jones had to have known that once the kids were gone the parents wouldn't have the will to fight his insanity.

i agree with Jimmy - it's morbid and fascinating. But Anthony might not have understood the situation. The adults at Jonestown were mostly african-americans who were impoverished. They had little education and few life options. They were brainwashed and / or seduced by the allure of community, salvation, and a life of peace.
Also, the kids were crying because the cyanide caused stomach pain.

these people found something to believe in, in Jones. add to that the mind control .... there were armed guards there, too. they and jones were a tyranny. i remember this story on the news when i was a kid, and i still feel bad for these people.
