I liked the Krakoan Era. However, they had too many unnecessary books. What really pisses me off is all the work that was done to big up Synch, essentially making him Omega Level. To not have him included in any of the "From the Ashes" titles is a shame. Also, I Love Cassara, but Pepe Larraz is this generation's essential X-Men artist. Can't wait for your video on Blood Hunt.
Krakoa era died the moment Marvel decided to allow the untalented writing staff to deviate from Hickman's vision. Marvel editorial is basically DEI in application. Untalented hacks hired because of race and sexuality, not merit or ability.
i was a fan of the Krakoa era to it had so much promise to many books and lazy storytelling and there so so many mutants that stayed on the shelf .what i mean about lazy storytelling a couple story arcs why the story arc had one book would have that old story arc in it as it was stilling going on .
What era of X men doesn’t have too many unnecessary books?
I don't understand, everyone says Magneto/Cyclops is right but when Xavier does what is the natural conclusion to that way of thinking and abandons his dream for it, everyone is mad. Oh well.

Didn't Rachel kinda seem to understand she needed to die to help resurrect the Phoenix as part of xaviers plan? He's alone in trying to prevent mutant suffering on such massive scales, and up against an omniscient god.. pretty much everything he does is justified

Despite the rush of the X-books and bad marketing, the actual plots and concepts are still so rich and striking. You can tell the writers put a lot of thought into writing good stories, it’s just the lack marketing the gravity of what’s happening making things seem anti-climatic and the rush to end the books to bring in Xmen nestalgia era disrupting the pace yet it’s STILL good inspite👌🏿
Yeah. Frankly, the only real dud was probably fallen Angels and the first half of Green.
MAGNETO WAS RIGHT
The fall of Krakoa was lacklustre. Marvel's decision to leave Krakoa was effectively in rushed storylines. But moreso, we are getting the same repetitive arc of legacy characters getting screwed. We've seen it time again. Mutants at some point thrive then fail. But fail hard. This Xavier demise was inevitable and hardly surprising. This post, Krakoa, certainly does not excite me.
Really dude ...it's the writers,..wheres my native American mutants...they use us for stories.
I have probably in this instance probably two stories for my native Americans. No cross over events ..no 4 or 5 limited series....This is original land shouldn't original native mutants lead the way ?
That whole "they're not popular" argument when it comes to underutilized Black characters is so ridiculous because no character automatically becomes popular by themselves. It takes a company to consistently use and promote them, and for writers who actually care about the character to create well written stories for them.
and there you have it, if the writers underutilize a character, they won’t become popular. It’s quite aggravating though when they over utilize other characters to no end, when other characters are stuck on the sidelines. Not too mention it’s particularly weird to see comic enthusiasts talking about how a particular writer doesn’t care a certain character and that. I wonder if the writer was so bold to have said such outright in an interview?
I do agree with this.
Heck, my favourite example for this is Karma; the first leader of the New Mutants.
Frankly, since her debut 40 years ago, after Claremont, only Wells, Liu and Ayala cared about her.
The other problem is that with only so many books and pages to feature at most 30-35 mutants well at any given time, miles will vary on how accepting people are of scaling back 10 or 12 of their favorites to make room for others ro shine.
Now is honestly the best time ever to keep Sunspot, Synch, Monet, Prodigy, Oya, Manifold and maybe two or three others (their pick of Darwin, Frenzy, Nekra, Cecilia, or Tempo) up front and center so their profile rises. Try too many all at once and none may rise to the top because most'll be half done.
They'll also need the benefit of being built up outside of strictly X titles (e.g., Uncanny Avengers blends into the Avengers fold, and maybe some left field placement like Synch going to the Fantastic Four for help with his aging problem), and of course cross promotion in other media (like Sunspot featuring in X-Men '97) so there's room for others. Not to mention we need Native, Asian and other representation to be maintained/increased while doing this.

Prodigy is kind of an easy one if you keep him with Turbo since they’re together.
Frankly, if Miss Marvel gets a second season or any type of continuation in television, Dust immediately comes to mind due to her short run in the champions.
Considering Oya is going to be on Magneto’s team, I could see some Nekra related stuff. Maybe a story where she finally takes down the Mandrill.
And yeah, outside of the New Mutants (arguably the most Sapphic team in Marvel), people may make assumptions.
With Betsy and Rachel in X force, I wonder how the British side of things will continue, if it does. Rictor and Shatterstar could be a good duo in that. Maybe add Pixie, Gentle and Wind Dancer for that Academy X feel. Would be interesting if Pixie had a story involving her dad and idiot half sisters.
Speaking of Academy X, I could see some of them, like Wallflower and Elixir, having a bit of a villain era where they feel hopeless and angry after Krakoa.
Gentle appearing in Black Panther seems obvious since he’s literally from Wakanda.
@@christopherbennett5858i love Oya, and I REALLY want more Nekra. Such a complex character (and we need a GOOD black albino in comics finally!). I want to see their relationship deepened as sisters/friends.
For as rushed and underwhelming as the ending of Krakoa has been, this at least feels like a somewhat decent ending for Kate.
I loved STORM THE MINUTE I saw her in uncanny X-men 136( dark phoenix) I was 9 yrs old .
There was something so intriguing and beautiful!
Also thought BISHOP was super cool when he debuted!
Never thought for a second about them being black. They were written very well!
This was a good way to end the krakoan era for X-Men storytelling and a good way to put Charles on the back burner for now until the next run.
Charles on the back burner please! I was even content with him staying with his bird woman empress in the Shi’a empire while Magneto takes care of business in X-men ‘97. 😂 they really doin Charles bad all around!!

It also doesn't make sense that he would just accept that.She's dead because scarlet witch literally made the waiting room for dead mutants so doesn't really make sense that he's just letting his Girl die like that.

Thank you Blerd, for acknowledging that Kate IS a trained assassin. Many people forget that since she really doesn't use those skills (the kill aspect, not the fighting). But yes, when Ogun the Immortal (aka the Demon Ninja) possessed her and rewrote a portion of her personality, he gave her the skills of a master assassin.
By "rewrote her personality" I mean he laid a soul taint. I don't see many say it's similar to what Belasco did to Illyana: take a piece of soul and warp it. The methods and reasons why were just different.
Belasco tore a piece of Illyana's soul out of her, aged it up in his image, transmute that piece of soul into a bloodstone he then put into the Beatrice Medallion. Belasco planed to use a fully formed Medallion (with 5 bloodstones) to open a rift for the dark gods he worshiped to enter Earth.
Ogun tore a piece of Kitty's soul but left it inside. He took that piece, de-aged it and raised it up as his daughter. Ogun left that soul piece insdie Kitty because his plan was for that piece then to corrupt rest of her, then he could fully possess her and use her.
Bringing back Talon only to kill her off again was pointless. Her and Sync should have been the new leadership of Mutantkind going forward; it's getting so tiresome seeing the same handful of people in charge of everything.

Xmen have always been about protecting themselves from humanity... that's the problem with killing krakoa. Krakoa was vastly different than what we had in the past. Now Marvel has just limited the mutants. Krakoa gave the xmen much more to work with.

What's wild about people not realizing that the Caliban-face on Forge's suit not being the real Caliban is that the REAL Caliban was shown at the end of that! After his mission, Forge goes to the Green Lagoon to find and befriend the real deal.

I agree. To me this was the best fall of X book they wrote. And yes Josh is beyond amazing. I have told him so. His doctor doom angry face in the doom X-men issue is fire!! I will miss angry ninja Shadowcat. She was the coolest I have ever seen a character I love. Also synch...man I really love this dude. Worried what is going to happen to him. He is such a great character. I am so sad about him and Talon. I am mad they teased them kissing on cover but no...Talon except memories.... Anyway I agree this is EXACTLY what we have wanted this whole time. Best fall of X issue in my opinion.

Man, feels like Marvel has too many books out, looks like there are just as many X-Men teams as there are Spider people and I don't know which ones to follow
The Krakoan translation in the last page says “Thank You” to Kate’s duty on being in the X-Men team coming to an end, and onto a new career in Exceptional X-Men. Josh did a lot of hard work with Gerry in making sure the typography is done correctly there.
I find yr channel interesting to listen to. The parts where you talk about having equal black characters, i'm right behind. Respect. The parts where you say that this character of Xavier being evil is right jars me. I could be wrong but there seems no logic behind it. Where are the x-men that didn't kill? Bring on the reboot. Still a great listen. Thank you for your work.

Look, I don’t want the X-Men to turn into a team of Punishers, but when your enemy has genocided a significant portion of your race (as far as the survivors know), it’s time for the kid-gloves to come off.
If they’d straight-up killed Orchis (who they KNEW were planning genocide!) then they’d have saved many of their people. There’s times to let an enemy KNOW why they should fear you!

It’s not surprising that the survivors of a genocide aren’t in a forgiving mood. Emma Frost in Iron Man said it straight-out: mutants ‘no kill’ policy led to this. They shouldn’t have let someone plan and carry out the destruction of their race. Morality has limits. Moral clauses shouldn’t be a suicide pact.
They have ruined the Professor Xavier character so much that I despise him.
I used to think you can't have X-Men without him now I would think you cannot.
From manipulating Jean Grey's mind, creating a secret X-Men team with Vulcan that were pretty much all killed and everybody was mine wiped.
Erasing destiny's memories of nightcrawler, being part of onslaught. The list goes on and on professor Xavier's moral compass swings pretty damn shady and it's lacking any kind of conscience.

Well beside white and blacks mutants marvel really don't have any other mutants hero... No polish, no Ukrainan, iranian... Not even the most important god mithras is in marvel comics... It's insane.. Mithras was worshiped from poland all the way to Xinjiang of china and south to Iran and turkey. Mithras was one of the main roman gods during roman empire.. But still no mithras in marvel.. Only thor, hercules or zeus
