- As a lover of Kikki K Planners I thought I would do a side by side comparison with the new Carpe Diem Planners from Simple Stories.

Thanks so much for the accurate information about the Carpe Diem split leather! I have been really frustrated by the amount of misinformation on RUclips (and even some stockists) regarding it being vegan-friendly. Yours is one of the only reviews I've seen that has given the correct description!
Vegan Organizer yeah, i'm a vegan and just ordered a carpe diem... so kinda bummed! I even asked the stocklister and asked about it...

This is by far the most informative video I've seen on both these planners. I was in the Kikki K Covent Garden store this week, and I do agree they're beautiful, but in my heart I know I want the Carpe Diem really. Thanks so much for helping me to decide. x

Thanks for an excellent review. I was so tempted to purchase a Kikki-K, but the flimsy paper would definitely be a put-off for me, especially as they are so expensive. I'll stick with my gorgeous Carpe Diem's thanks.
Kikki K binders are so lovely, I am just not a fan of the inserts at all!

I love horizontal weekly layouts. I typically don't have enough going on to use all of the boxes in vertical layouts.

I actually bought a kikki k and hated it...bought a Carpe diem and love it!!! And I actually use the inserts that come with the Carpe Diem, very cute without being too much

Thank you! Very informative video. I am set for 2017 but I believe I'll be using carpe diem for 2018! Love that it's also undated so I can buy it now and stash it. Also love that it has inserts I can take out and right on. Using coils right now and it's kind of a struggle. 😩

Dang. I had very little desire to get a Carpe Diem planner because I opted for a Filofax Saffiano in Raspberry this year...but your review has me really wanting to get that cuteness.

What happened to the other kiki k you started on this video?
The button and rings in the Kikki will depend on the planner. They now have rose gold, gold, silver, and navy. The rose gold closure actually has white rings
I’ve had my Carpe Diem in blue for a year now. Lovely colour, nice layout and lots of quality accessories it’s true, (the paper is of particularly good quality); but, (and this is a BIG “but”), the quality of the faux leather - over time - is extremely poor and left me disappointed that I’d forked out my hard-earned cash. There are small nicks and tears appearing; - (on the edges especially); - revealing the white synth’ material it was originally made of. (I’ve had to super-glue it down, to stop it from getting any worse!) The biggest disappointment, however, is the snap closure strap which is starting to tear away from the anchor point, as my diary starts to fill-up during the year. This is because the strap’s just not long enough to cope. A year in and I’m already using elastic straps for added support! Unfortunately I find this is a common problem with planner diaries. Designers who have not spent time enough to think about how the average busy Mum or professional will use their planner during the course of a year, resulting in too short straps that at best, “pop off”, when they should hold, or at worst, wear out and start to tear, because of the strain! I do not know any seasoned diarist that doesn’t stuff documents, tickets and lists into their planner. Isn’t that what they’re made for? Especially the A5’s?! Diaries are heavy duty. So make a heavy duty strap for goodness sake! By definition they’re for daily use, but this synthetic version DOES NOT perform well under stress/duress. I only use one diary, (plus iPhone and iPad), to organise my life and expect it to last longer than a year before replacing it. This diary planner simply cannot stand up to the rigors of everyday life and is therefore not, ‘fit-for-purpose’. It’s a shame, but I’m looking for another diary now, perhaps a Kikki, since it’s ALL leather. Failing that I may splurge out on the sturdy Filofax, “Malden”, which I hope will last me a lifetime, should I wish it.

With the carpe diem, did the inserts come with it or do they all have to be purchased separately? If you go on their website it states all inserts have to be purchased separately hence asking x

I thought of getting a Webster's A5 planner, however I saw a lot of people with complaints in them falling apart very quickly. Not worth it to me.

Does anyone know if I could put the inserts of the A5 Large planners of Heidi Swapp memory planners into either of the ones shown in the vid?
I'm so sorry I don't know but hopefully someone else will be able to chime in and help!
You can but you'll have to make some adjustments. The Heidi Swapp inserts are designed for a 4 ring binder and the KiKi K and the Carpe Diem are 6 ring binders. To make it work you will have to cut the HS inserts down a little (they're wider than the KiKi K and the Carpe Diem binders) add washi tape to the insert sheets in the hold area, re-punch the holes and then add them into the KiKi K or Carpe Diem. To pull the HS inserts out of the HSMP and move them directly over to the KiKi K or the Carpe Diem is not an option. Hope this help.

Awesome video. I've been struggling with the Erin Condren uncoiling/overhang problem. Do you have any clue if the color crush planners also have the additional width?
+Jay Carr no I dont Im afraid, Im not the biggest fan of the colour crush so have never bought an A5
A little annoyance about the Carpe Diem (for me anyway) is that the Monthly Pages start on Sun... But the Weekly Pages start on Monday.
+ArtJourneyUK Oh I completely agree!! I can't abide weeks starting on a Sunday, my week starts on a monday and ends on a Sunday, very frustrating!

Does the Franklin Covey Classic size binders work with these refills?
I don't have a Franklin Covey myself but I think they have a different binding system than standard A5 planners (which this one is)
