Take Arsenal and Liverpool points for the past seasons and put them in other top European leagues and they'd win most of the leagues. Aston villa, West Ham, Brighton went up against European teams and went toe to toe with them and they're not the recognized top six sides. Others are rising as well. Pep has made other teams to push themselves to their limits and beyond and many clubs are becoming more competitive and so has the league. @@cosby2803 you cant ignore the fact that competition in the 90's and 2000's were stiff. Nowadays, players only need to run fast, thats all it takes to have a decent career nowadays.
Back then, you have to be real ballers, you have to be that good to become a footballer.
We dont have to go far, just look at the average striker like Bebeto for instance. Very skillful and theres no denying his goalscoring ability. He also have good understanding of the game. I called him average because in his era, he is nowhere near as good as Romario, Stoickov, Batistuta or Bergkamp.
Those are very few list of strikers who definitely won ballon d'or if playing in our era now.
Players nowadays don't treat football like their lives depends on it. Football has lost its truest quality since 2010's and above until now. I never watch football in the 70's and 80's because i haven't born yet, but i believe football in those years also very stiff as well.

More goals are being scored in the league, even by small teams. How often did big clubs lose 7-2 (Liverpool to Villa) or 5-2 at home to a traditionally small club (Leicester did it to City at the Etihad in 2021) back in the era of Ferguson & Wenger, as opposed to today, where a team like Everton beat Pep 4-0, which is still his worst career defeat?
EPL also has the best collection of coaches, in my opinion. When Bayern dominated Bundesliga, it was called farmers' league. Yet, that same Bayern destroyed big teams in the UCL. Pep beat Madrid 4-0 last season.
The truth is that EPL teams have gotten better, but the top teams are now astronomically better as well, which makes them look bad. It's not the fault of big teams either, if smaller teams can't keep up at the same pace.

According to who? Was La Liga a farmer's league when Barca won it over the best Madrid side (arguably) in recent history? I suppose we just have different definitions of farmer's league. Don't let the anger of the fact that City keeps winning to cloud your judgement.
Sometimes it's not that you're bad at something, but that someone else is just better than you. Pep's worst records in his career have mostly come from EPL. It's the toughest league he's had to deal with. Don't just look at who won it at the end to then conclude that it's a farmer's league or that it's too easy for him, while ignoring the day-in, day-out struggles he goes through to finish above Klopp & more recently, Arteta. Like how he's struggled to win games unlike his other leagues, how he's played games with 1 or 0 shots on target, his lowest possession despite being obsessed with having more of it, worst defeats, highest number of defeats per season in his career, or the fact that he's had to abandon his principles multiple times in order to win games, none of which he had to do in other leagues because they were much easier than EPL.

I mean they spent more than what Arsene Wenger spent in 2 decades and still could not win an EPL title. Even with VAR favouring Man City and Arsenal this season due to the Arab Sheikhs UAE connection, Arteta seems to be choking behind Man City. Why is that? Because this is the Dubai Premier league. I can’t understand where this notion of farmers league being defined as a “one horse race” came from. When I was younger, a “farmers league” was exactly that, a league where the footballers were not exclusively footballers. They had day jobs, such as plumbing, or farming. Remember at the 2016 Euros, when everyone was so impressed that Iceland made it out of their groups, despite a majority of its players having careers outside of football? This is the same concept with a farmers league.
While I understand that today Ligue 1, Liga Portugal, or the Eredivisie for example, are all comprised of players whose only occupation is playing the game, this was not the case 10-20 years ago. There is a huge disparity in the quality and ability of players from these smaller leagues, compared to players from the top 5 leagues. I am willing to bet my entire life on the fact that PSG wouldn’t even finish in the top half of the Premier League. And that is the best team in France, and it has been for over a decade. And I am not just some PSG or Ligue 1 hater, I wholeheartedly believe it would be the same story for Ajax, Porto, and Benfica.
Lastly, I just want to remind every one of the powerhouse that LaLiga has been for the past 20 years. Since 2005, a LaLiga team has won the Champions League 9 out of 18 times (it will be 10 out of 19 if Madrid beat Dortmund come June 1st). During this time, there have been 3 different winners of LaLiga. Atleti have won it twice, Madrid have won it 7 times, and Barca have won it 10 times. Seria A and the Premier League have had way more diversity in winners during this time, yet no one refers to LaLiga as a farmers league. In fact, during peak LaLiga, (what I would consider 2009-2018) most people touted it as the best league in the world. Why is this? Because they had the best players. During those years, UEFA and FIFA best 11s were almost exclusively comprised of La Liga players. While I know that this isn’t necessarily the case for the Premier League, and I still believe the best of the best go to Spain, you’d have to be a pedestrian fan to think that Premier League clubs don’t employ some of the games very best. Bar a few seasons where City have just walked away with the title, most seasons are extremely competitive and several campaigns have been decided on the last day, with only a point, or two separating the champions from second place.
So while City do have a monopoly on the Premier League, to call the worlds biggest league (based on almost every conceivable metric), where some of the best players play, a farmers league is the worst take I have ever heard. And it is so commonplace today, that I cannot help but wonder if people actually watch the game and have real opinions, or just casually watch some TikTok highlights, or Twitter feeds, and just regurgitate some garbage hot takes from other braindead casuals.
