My friend has been boiling for 2 weeks. ( Southern WI) i haven't tapped but my silver maple is already buding. Now i don't go through much syrup and my only trees are 2 silver maples 1 sugar maple and 20+ box elder. If i get 2 weeks ill have enough.
@@TheMapleDude1 it is probably soon by the end of next week we will be up in the mid 60s for temps and the growing degree days are narrowing for silvers and reds
Here in NE VT, I just finished taping and each day I prayed to not snow too much. I think you need to start praying for snow but it sure makes working in the woods easier with no snow. Best of luck this season.
it is nice to be able to get around on bare ground to tap. 2 years ago was much like you are this year here. turned out to be my best year. sap won`t run if the ground is frozen. you need right temps. i have not tapped yet plan on the first weekend of march. temps still don`t look right but you have to start some where. it think your going to be just fine when you tap good luck.
Hey there. I was down at the world headquarters Thursday the 15th and talked to u for a bit. Had some French toast that night and damn the syrup is so so so good. And the maple pop is awesome. Keep up the videos. Once the maple season is over cant wait for more banshee and quadzilla content.
What are you running for a gas powered vacuum pump? What does it pull? We run an vp76 delaval and it maxes at 26 works good but I’d like to get more pull!
How you said it is keeping it real. I am 64 now and she told me to down size. Your looking good. Your gon na do good. Better to sugar on your feet than be on your knees.

Interesting we could have never been ready that soon.
My Maple season here in Ohio is a weird one man! Weather is crazy. One good week long run since tapped January 25th.
Is it close to being over?

Finished tapping today in Central MI, I really appreciate your videos, they’ve taught me a lot about vacuum systems.
Good luck this season.
Thanks appreciate the comments and that it helped someone

Thanks Derek glad you guys stopped in. We are looking forward to getting back to riding!
Do you run into issues with the tanks freezing up?
Once in a while a valve will freeze but you find ways of dealing with it.
How many tapsdo you have
Enough to keep me too busy.
Where’s Jack? You need his help.
He's obviously in school and the Basketball team so until the games are over it's difficult for him to get put here weeknights.

Airablo pump, simple and reliable.
@MrBigBEYEA how are you cooling your vp76? I’m running a 78 and the pump gets hot at anything over 19”.

Thanks for the encouragement!
