Only You Can Make Your Life Worth Living

- I have seen far too much defeat and cynicism amongst my peers while I've been away and what ultimately underlies this is a sense of victimisation, that your life would great if it weren't for X, Y or Z. Your life might be easier, but that absolutely does not mean it would be better or you would be happier. Hardship is a fact of existence and something to be fought if only to strengthen yourself and make a better life out of the one you've been given. You won't achieve a good life by sitting around and complaining to yourself. You have to get up and live one.

"Think of yourself as dead. You have lived your life. Now, take what's left and live it properly." - Marcus Aurelius
He attacks
He protects
But most importantly...
*He back*
Going through a rough breakup, I’ve been using excuses as to why I’m not going to the gym, reading, and working on myself. It’s time to change all of that.
Wishing you all the best, king

American is back!!! No wait........ANGLO IS BACK
Stoicism has gotten me through many rough points in life, I’m recommending it to friends going through pain
i thought i was stoic but turns out its just a natural defense mechanism from emotional abandonment as a child LOL
Marcus Aurelius' and Seneca's writings are fantastic reads.
That was one of the most important speeches I have ever heard. Thank you, Anglo
I like your message, Anglo. It's not meant for me, as I'm passed the point of thinking about life. But your suggestions are great, people should listen and act.
Fortunately for me, I never blamed anyone else for my own misery and I came to terms with my dissatisfactions (because I lived a life where I had to earn everything I own). I do have plans to change my life, but even if I fail, I'm not blaming anyone and I'm also contempt with who I am. If I fail at whatever my goals are, then I'm ok with it, failure is part of life. And I don't mean that in a defeatist way, I may try again, switch tactics, or give up and live life in whatever misery I will be afterwards. But I'm not afraid of failure, life goes on and suicide is plain wrong (you don't have to be a religious person to figure that out, I am not and I did).
As for stoicism, I came to some stoic conclusions myself, like not getting angry at things you can't control, but I never expressed these into "conscious language" (if you understand what I'm saying, it's hard to communicate those kind of thoughts even in voice format). After listening to someone reading parts of Meditations, it hit me that I was behaving like that sometimes, but ever since listening to Marcus Aurelius'es thoughts, it stroke me and I became more conscious about not getting angry. I have already bought the book, I read the author's introduction, but I stopped reading Meditations itself, because I want to do that in a certain time period, soon (I do intend to read the thanks part, as that wasn't included in the reading session I listened to and I'm curious about it).
In the last video's comment section, I recall giving you video suggestions about "blogging" about how _you_ live life, I think people would prefer seeing you preach what you teach. You don't have to get too particular and invite us in your private life, just general stuff you do and how you behave in certain situations, without giving any names. Judging from experience, people, and especially defeatists and "oppressed" are not open to listening to suggestions about improvement. However, when they see things in action, they do adopt some things themselves, which is why I love practicing what I tell people. I put "oppressed" in quotes because just like the teaching of the stoics, I believe this is a case of "things that are in your own mind." Nobody is oppressed, just like nobody is being offended, they either choose to be offended and affected by mere words and thoughts that came from other mortals, or they choose to be "oppressed" by mere words and thoughts that came from other mortals. They get to blame nobody but themselves!
I think that's a great idea of seeing him and other people preach what they teach! It's really cool to see someone change and show people how to do it!
It's easy for tough people who have made it to give tough love blunt truth words but can they really show how it's done and how they made it despite their flaws.
I believe at least some losers/whiners/complainers/blamers deserve some sympathy and empathy. I mean changing isn't easy and plenty of them are willing to change whether they do is a different matter.
I have the inference though it can be hard to sympathize with a loser when you're no longer one. I mean to see all these people not talking responsibility can seem rather disheartening.
But I try to give empathy and sympathy when it's deserved.
a breathe of fresh air from the high time preference decadence that I constantly see on social media
I'd like more of this
Needed to hear this today 💪🏻
Thanks king for this video. Truly needed it today
Thank you for making this video.
Thank you Anglo, I really needed this! I've been in a deep and dark hole for a long time, and I'm still there... But I now understand, that blaiming others for pushing me into this hole won't get me out. If I wish to get out of this deep and dark hole, then it's my responsibility to do the climbing. The harsh truth is unpleasant beacause it places the responsibility on me - But I know when I master this responsibility I will feel amazing.
This is the type of content that this community needs more of. Great video
Wake up babe, new anglo video
Lovely video, I feel the exact same way as a 17 year old teenager who has embraced stoicism since 2020, it's not simply due to being weak willed it's simply projecting your will in such a unproductive way, instead of projecting your will outwards we must do so inwards and increase the strength of our heart and mind, not the size of our social status.
Rationality is the key
I decided to give Meditations by Marcus Aurelius a read and I’ve gotta say, it’s changed me for the better
Great stuff man
Anglo 2: Aurelian Boogaloo
Great message! As somebody here already pointed out also works for me - I already passed through this transformation. But for me it was essential prerequisite to undestand ancap phylosophy. Actually this is your existing content wrapped up differently (as discussed in your comeback video). And it is great because different people need different narrative about the same idea in order to understand and connect.
Yes, please upload more philosophy stuff
Speaking of stoicism, I'd like to recommend a book that walks hand in hand with meditations, not dealing with how to live life but how to better utilise your life for the better and make the most of it. That book being seneca's "On the shortness of life," it fits in well with meditations and the two should be read together. Hope this helps :)
Another great video 🦧
How can such a calm man like Marcus Aurelius be the father of a lunatic like Commodus? Genetics is strange.
In the scope of Roman emperors it's hard to call Commodus a lunatic, rather than an incompetent hedonist who partied Rome into bankruptcy. Still, that's hardly any better and the real injustice comes from how incredible his dad was
He was probably eating mercury or such.
Founds this on odysee and honestly my first thought: "wow how come i've never heard of this guy", just assuming you were among the biggest of this kind of channel. Amazing work, really glad I discovered your content and please keep em coming! Top notch quality.
Idk man. I don't think I'll ever be able to not let other people piss me off. Specifically my in-laws... in relation to all of their shit in my basement and garage... places I was gonna turn into prepping and at home gym areas...
It'd be awesome to have a conversation some day, this is one of your best videos
Completely forgot this was a moral philosophy channel now
Nonetheless, good vid!
I think, watvhing rn
It isn't, I'm still Anglo Libertarian after all. I just want to discuss different topics more often
@@CeaddaOfMercia ok
Boy I wish I could go back to Weimar Germany and live a happy and fulfilling life with because external factors and the state of society as a whole have to weight whatsoever on your quality of life.
Some of it belongs to you, maybe 90% of it, but at the end of the day when there is rampant evil, corruption and degeneracy, someone is going to have to clean up the mess.
do you have a discord server?
I do but it's not public, entry is given through SubscribeStar
Stoicism means an accetic life, shouldn't be taken too literally
It can be taken past the point of reason, as I believe Epictetus does. But its why I like Seneca so much as his kind of stoicism is rather moderate in terms of prescribing lifestyle and focuses much more on mindset
@@CeaddaOfMercia while I found out I was very much the stoic I learned it's an erred philosopfy as it's derived from apathy.

You can watch just the episode on plato & stoicism go understand the error I recomend watching the entire series.
While not truly a stoic, I really love Diogenes / Cynicism and the stories about him. He had the balls to do what the whole society believed to be wrong, yet still managed to charm the entire city he lived in. I believe minimalism brings people happiness, it makes people focus on truly what's important in life. I don't have Diogenes strong (or sick depending on your opinion about him) mind and will to live life without a roof over my head - and don't suggest people do that either, but it is fascinating how removing most of your material possessions leads to you finding more happiness in what you own. I have heard plenty of stories from people who practice minimalism and it did happen to me to some extent. I don't call myself a minimalism, I don't practice minimalism, but I did remove some possessions I had and made me feel much better and intend to do so further.
I will watch that playlist after I finish reading Meditations, but I doubt something will convince me that stoic teachings are wrong, because I arrived to some of their conclusions by myself, independent of stoic writings (I believe it's slightly because of Stirner and me thinking hard about what "spooks" are, but mostly because some life experience with personal emotion management). I am open to good ideas, but what can be better than not getting angry about ideas and things you can't control? You are in control of your own emotions and I take that literally. You choose to be sad or happy. I feel happy about my life, my "misery" is my own and I live by it.
Yeah I learned a long time ago not to blame the government for holding me down any more than I blame gravity for doing so. Maybe a bit of a false equivocation, but then again... without people trying to pull you down victory and success wouldn't be as sweet. It seems life is all about contrast, good and evil.
Government is nothing but a spook, like Santa Claus as Larken Rose likes to put it. It doesn't exist, it's only in people's minds. Sure, you may not be able to escape the actions of some crazy people who believe in superstitions and will do anything to not break their self-fulfilling prophecies, but I believe you shouldn't live your life trying to satisfy the sick minds of crazy people. You don't have to pretend Santa Claus is real in front of adults, so why would you pretend government is real? Just try to avoid interactions that would make a Santa believer try to burn you at a stake.
