Why didn't one parent go to the recital and one go to the graduation? That would have been a reasonable compromise.

I never been to a pinao recital so I don’t know how often they play, but a college graduation is the once-in-a-lifetime thing. There’s no repeat for college graduations.

Well, if you attend one college or university where you graduate from but enter another college or university in order to graduate from there, that would mean that graduation from a college or university could actually be repeated. In fact, a piano recital could also be postponed for another day as well.

I truly know how he feels, because that happen to me, where I had fine myself into the world all alone. I had to find my own way, and keep my head up high with everything that I did for myself in life with God helping me through all of it.

Remedy- leave them out of a large public noteworthy event(s) (Do not even acknowledge their existence) nor invite them, leave them out, have someone else in their place instead, praise them instead of your neglecting family. Have a large poster like picture of your big event(s) you without them in the photo hanging with your accomplishments. The photo would be someone else in place of your parents, this will be a permanent reminder to them. No amount of BS excuses will change the photograph.

Seriously there is plenty of other piano recitals to go to and there's only one college graduation. so parents decided that it was best to go through the piano recitals over one major milestone.

Graduations happen all the time, yes. But 'His' college graduation is a once-in-a-lifetime as well. They don't have repeats on graduations. His parents deserved to be called out on their BS and if he told his folks that he no longer sees them as family, because to him Emma seems to be the only child that matters. I wouldn't have blamed him. I'm glad he was willing to give them the olive branch, particularly for his sisters sake since she isn't at fault in this issue. If anything she is just as much a victim as her older brother, just on the opposite side of the spectrum.

What kind of parents abandon their son on the day of College Graduation because they wanted their spoiled daughter to be most important!?

This is a common issue among families, I'm surprised that op is still keeping in touch with the root of the issue and the people who made it happen

Graduation is a big milestone. It doesn’t happen every single lady. It’s all about the parents and the golden child inadvertently destroying op life for years for their golden child daughter and hers accomplishments/birthday/graduation/wedding/birth- her own children well-being not 100% op whole life at all.
