  • Using Extender and Opaque White with Relief Printing Inks
Extender can be a wonderful thing to add to your relief printing ink kit. You can mix paler colours and add transparency. You can also use Opaque White to lighten your colours but with very different results!

Hi, Holly! There's any extender for water based inks? Thanks for your videos and your share of expertise.

Lots of different brands of inks make extenders, including water-based inks. This one is for Caligo Safe-Wash oil-based Inks. It's best to use the same brand as the ink you're using. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for the video. How about the smell. Do these ink have a strong smell? I'm currently working with akua inks, they don't smell but I always end up with headaches when I use them; so I'm looking for some other water washable ink.

These inks are linseed oil based so do have a smell. Aqua is the most gentle smelling ink that we know of.
