Ritchie belting out Taylor Swift's "Love Story" was such a fun moment. And he's still cursing out other drivers while he sings, as one does. Perfect scene.
Prior two episodes did a number on setting up Richie for this. We saw everyone absolutely ready for Carmie to fire Richie for trying to steal power. Then we see Richie at the holiday episode before it all went to hell for him. Then the beginning of this episode, his ex confirms she's engaged and breaks the last of his hope to repair that. This was so real, someone who just got beaten down for a few years and has had their soul extinguished. Watching him find his passion, know he could start over and be great was incredible.

For someone who's worked in the service industry this scene is like porn. Perfect communication, teamwork, coordination and emotional intelligence is an underappreciated artform, and this show absolutely nailed it.
It's really hard to rescribe how far teamwork can get you in Gastronomy. I usually work in a team of three, but had to do a job with two new people a few weeks ago. They were good, eager to learn, really can't complain. But I still noticed how a lot of things didn't go as smooth as I am used to, how I had to always do a few tiny steps more compared to my usual team

Yet in a high pressure fast-paced environment where detail matters sometimes you just need everything to function like an automated machine. I don't work in service industry but can perhaps relate in some respects because I work in the phase 1 clinical trials industry which couples detailed administration with having to deal with patients and the companies paying for the drug studies in a very regimented way, with tight patient recruitment schedules and where every data collection timepoint is critical and every mistake or deviation to the protocol logged. And when they want to audit you or the regulatory body wants an inspection you can easily go bananas trying to clean everything up to look presentable. One of my managers described it as a zero tolerance industry - one that always points out mistakes or what wasn't missed rather than praise for doing a good job because doing a good job is supposed to be standard. Christmas dinner was good but too showy for me, it was clearly their "Emmy episode" a la Review from S1 and pulling out all the stops with the guest stars, the yelling, the stress, etc. Forks is definitely my #1. So life-affirming, warm, and positive while not forgetting to make Richie organically grow and work for the payoff. Just wonderful TV.
This was one of the best episodes of any show to have ever been created. I knew Richie had a moment coming, I can't wait to see how he closes out the season.
I worked in restaurants for 8 years and never had the revelation or felt what Richie felt like this episode. I know it’s a show, but I think it really shows how somebody can stick out the restaurant business and even love it.
Love how they used the music from the movie Thief a classic Michael Mann film that took place in Chicago. When Richie takes over expediting in the last episode is also awesome! Insane character development...quality acting and writing!
The scene where he finally served filled me with so much fear I have never ever been so enthralled at what’s possibly a simple scene but Richies evolution has been amazing
This episode and "Fishes" are two of the most amazing episodes in TV broadcast history. I am so happy Ebon is winning for his portrayal of Ritchie. The Emmy's were only for season 1. Ebon should win again for Ritchie's character arc this season. Everyone else should too, but Ebon deserves it all for the season 2 Ritchie glow-up! Thank you so much for bringing this show and these characters to the screen!
One of the best episodes. I really hope the writers look at reviews and realize these are the best moments. We care slightly less about the family drama, and care a lot more about the characters development of restaurants and cooking skills.
Definitely my favourite episode so far! Experiencing stepping up to the big leagues through Richie, and seeing his inevitable growth and the better sides of his character (warmth, humour, excitement...) was just amazing. Visually stunning as always, but this episode felt a notch above the rest. Which I think was kinda the point, particularly after the chaos and intensity, not to mention outright mess that was Fish. (also an amazing episode tho). Love this series!
i like how excited and passionate he is to learn ! and he listens to everyone so carefully. i appreciate the lady patiently explaining everything to him despite being busy. i love it
As a server this is my most loved episode from season 2, Richie's transformation to become a better man for himself is so heart inspiring that Ebon Moss-Bachrach did an amazing job bring this character to life. Cant wait for another season and I want to see this man Richie get a Queen next season while helping Carmen with his relationship and troubles with the restraunt. Please keep this content coming.
best show currently on TV. when you look at the stars wanting to appear on this show, you know you've got something special. JLC MUST get an Emmy nod this season!
Strongly disagree IMO she was a star WAY over acting. An unknown or lesser known actor would have been more believable in the role. Same with S.Paulson. Bob Odenkirk was great Mulvaney meh Ebon who plays Richie should DEFINITELY get an emmy nom
This was a very uplifting scene for me on a personal level for some reason. If you put in the time and have the right attitude, anything is possible. Great show.
The fact that Richie's character builds and builds and you want to hate him he all of a sudden transforms into Richie 2.0. You see his character build but also you see his past and clearly with his wife at the time you see him be thoughtful, caring, loyal, and above all else, taking care of family. It's fantastic watching his character grow and the writing is unreal with every character progression. Refreshing to find a show that actually puts thought into each person, each moment, and dive deep into each person's life and trauma.
He was such an awesome experience this season. It was fun watching Richie transform from delinquent brother trying to "make" a space for himself in the restaurant to someone who finally buys into the whole experience, the work, and the details.
This episode is easily my favorite of the entire show. Watching Ritchie run for the pizza and then ask if he can serve it to the table. That moment meant everything to me.
This episode is like my new “I’ll Make A Man Out of You” (the Mulan song and the actual movie scenes). I love that a person transforms from surviving to thriving. It’s different of course but it gives me the same surge of joy and basically secondhand motivation.
I remember watching this episode and first hearing the soundtrack from “Thief” by Tangerine Dream, I jumped up and was so excited! Ritchie is the best!!!
My husband and I met on a blind date in our 50's. One of the things we had in common is the fact that we both have advanced degrees, both professionals - but we worked as waiters and kitchen staff in our early 20's. We reminisced about how good it felt to make our customers happy. We both talked about how we felt it was our "professional" responsibility to pick up on the ques as to what made their experience better. We both joked that the one important blind date test was how your date treats staff, and sends thank yous to the kitchen for a great dinner. Thirteen years later, I am so happy I married my waiter turned PhD boyfriend. The Bear writers and actors have done a great job, respect.
I agree that you can tell everything about someone by how they treat service staff but as a bartender, it actually infuriates me some nights when the chefs get constant compliments but the dozens of cocktails I'm sending out, spent time on, prepared garnishes don't get a mention :/
As a server in the Las Vegas strip, I can relate to 95% of what was happening through this whole show. The food industry is hectic but yet so satisfying, this show is a fantastic representation of the restaurant business for those who don’t have experience. The “CORNER!” The “BEHIND!”, everything. Amazing writing, amazing actors. W Show.

@@KhajitRugCompanyGuest stars were a dumb move - except for Odenkirk
Would have been more realistic with unknown or lesser known actors
How doe guest stars make it more realistic? Such an absurdly stupid comment@@nancyjulian6714
I legit watch this episode from time to time to get inspired and motivated. So cathartic for Richie’s character
Fantastic writing on this show in conjuction with incredible acting. Season 2 of Bear is one of my favorite seasons of a show in a long time. Superb.
This episode was so satisfying and the needle drop at the end was MAGNIFICENT.
This is one of the finest episodes, finest character transformations I've ever seen. Simply mind-blowing and yet all believable. Way to go Cousin!
When the camera focuses on Richie's cowed face in the beginning and you see it light up as realization hits. Just wonderful directing and acting.
Seeing Richie thrive at Ever was brilliant.
1:18 theres something i love about this line 😭🤣 feels like something id say
I gave the biggest AWWWWWW to this episode 😢
Richie is really a good guy
Richie's character arc is literally one of the best I've ever seen on tv or the big screen. He becomes so great. You really start rooting for the guy.
Richie has stepped up this season 🙌. Can't wait for the next 20 seasons. This show is absolutely awesome.
The writers nailed it in this episode. Richie's transformation was great to watch.
This might be my favorite scene in the whole show. Richie’s character arc is insanely good.
This was my favorite episode. Watching Richie find out what he truly loves to do made me cry
I wear suits now
best show currently on TV. when you look at the stars wanting to appear on this show, you know you've got something special. JLC MUST get an Emmy nod this season!
Strongly disagree
IMO she was a star WAY over acting. An unknown or lesser known actor would have been more believable in the role. Same with S.Paulson.
Bob Odenkirk was great
Mulvaney meh
Ebon who plays Richie should DEFINITELY get an emmy nom
The music is the most underrated aspect of this scene
even just watching clips of this episode makes me tear up. i was wailing the first time i watched it. Richie's arc is incredible.
Probably the best episode of the series. You see Richie’s transformation and almost the light going off in his head to say I get it.
This was a very uplifting scene for me on a personal level for some reason. If you put in the time and have the right attitude, anything is possible. Great show.
My favorite episode of The Bear.
Amazing acting, amazing writing, one of my favourite scenes.
This. This was the episode. Perfection.
I've never been prouder of a fictitious character than I am of Richie in this episode.
This series is SO satisfying, because it believes in people.
I love this show. Funny, thoughtful, deep on so many levels. Love it!
This is probably my favorite episode in the whole series…love Richie’s transformation!!!
He was such an awesome experience this season. It was fun watching Richie transform from delinquent brother trying to "make" a space for himself in the restaurant to someone who finally buys into the whole experience, the work, and the details.
this is the best episode of season 2
This is the best episode of anything I have seen all year.
Just brilliant. All of my favorite shows have one thing in common at their core- great writing.
Love that the staff weren’t pretentious or stuck-up. Clearly demonstrated that their team effort is solely for the customer experience
This episode and the Christmas reunion is so PRICELESS. MASTERPIECE!
This is great and everybody should watch the 1981 Michael Mann masterpiece “Thief” because of this scene.
Firstly because it is great and secondly because it really elevates one of the core jokes in Being John Malkovich.
I just want a series with this energy and these characters and that's it. Make it Food Wars live action, but grounded.
This sequence was like if Hell's Kitchen met The Social Network
This episode is beautifull dude.. honestly give me chills so happy for this character.
is is weird that this scene is incredibly relaxing to me?
I love that they, sent all of them to place to better themselves so they can better the business
One of the best TV episodes in the last decade. And one of the best metamorphosis of a character in a long time too.
One of the best shows around today. The acting and writing is top notch. Jeremy Allen White is off the charts.
I can only imagine how much that place makes
I was so happy to see Sarah Ramos in this show!! She was perfect for this role
I remember watching this episode and first hearing the soundtrack from “Thief” by Tangerine Dream, I jumped up and was so excited! Ritchie is the best!!!
My absolute favorite episode thus far
I’ve never been so proud of a character in a show. This was the moment I knew that they knew what they were doing with Richie’s character.
W Show.
I was waiting for an episode to make me like Richie. I knew it had to be coming, and it was so satisfying when it finally did. Can't wait for season 3!
The Bear made me appreciate The Menu even more
it strikes me as so sweet the way she says follow garret
I was an expo in high school, most stressful and rewarding job. When everything goes right it’s a symphony, it’s an art.
