I am retired and for me to do the daily shopping is a relaxation, I leave the house, I have a coffee in a nearby bar, I go to the market, I take a look at the fish, meat, vegetables and fruits sometimes I go to the supermarket to buy canned food, vegetables, pasta, rice, cleaning item, then I buy bread at the bakery and before going home I drink a beer, "una caña", with its "tapa" . I walked an hour, shopped and talked to friends….
I lived in the UK and Switzerland for 20 years and to be back home as a Spaniard feels great. My son goes to a public school, it is a small one and it is great. When choosing public schools, you are more likely to be chosen by the ones nearby. Mucha suerte y disfrutad!
I don't know if you returned it or not but the little step is really nice, I have two of them. You STEP across the fold line, NOT parallel with it and just be sure it is ALL the way open and it's perfectly sturdy. I use mine all the time when I just need a little height to get to that last shelf.
Hi Ale. Alex did a great job filming. I hope we see some more of him doing that in the future. Glad you are getting settled in Spain, and getting things sorted. I look forward to your video with Kat. I am glad she got a layover in Spain.
I admire that you’re trying to slow down and adapt to the culture you’re now in. Here in the US we’re go go go and we must do a million things in a day in order to not feel like we aren’t lazy. Even people who claim to slow down here are still doing so much. I’m sick and tired of the burn out and feeling like nothing I do is enough. So I’m living vicariously through you :) is there Costco where you are? Maybe doing one weekly shop at least while you adjust to everything might help relieve some stress from the everyday shopping which I’ve heard is quite common in all of Europe.
I've noticed that many businesses in a lot of countries close for at least two hours in the middle of the day or open later in the day and although I hate it as a tourists it's great for the workers. We are really overworked in the United States.
Girl you had a lot in your shopping cart from home - what do you do with it when you have the grocery store’s shopping cart? Really love seeing all your places… you look so beautiful❣️Tell Alex he did a great job videoing in the store 😍
I love learning about Spain through your vlogs! I'd love to see the portion sizes of meals in Restaurants to see how they differ from America. The chip bags do all seem smaller!
Tedi is a German company. I was so excited when I found a Scrub Mommy and the Pink Stuff there. I love to shop at Tedi, especially art and craft supplies, office supplies, and home decor.
Hey Ale :) In Spain we're constantly going to the supermarket haha It's different from what you guys do in the US. We don't usually bulk (at least not as much). Most people buy produce every other day, so it doesn't go bad. There are Mercadonas (and other supermarkets) everywhere, so it's very easy to just get the 2-3 things that you need on your way home. I hope you'll adapt soon to this different type of shopping.
I’m going with my son tomorrow to register him in Munich as a resident. We live about 2 hours west of Munich but he has an apartment for Uni and must register as a second address. We took possession of his apartment on a Saturday and the city office is not open then but by law, he must register in person within 14 days. I too hope we have all the paperwork that he needs.
I saw a video yesterday comparing prices from Spain vs USA of different things, like hairdresser, gym, rent, etc... maybe you can do something similar... me encanta lo bien que os habeis adaptado !!!
I live in spain and we order from Mercadona once a week, just to avoid the daily runs. They deliver to your door and help you unpack. Also, Pepco is one of my favourite stores! Stuff for the house, im ordering from ikea.
Hi, Ale! Happy Monday and welcome to the eighth month of August!😊😊😊😊😊😎☀💙💙💙💙💙💙🌷💖💖💖💖💖💖💖🛫💖💖🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇👍. This new chapter of Spain is super awesome! AHHHH!!😀🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇👍
I live in Portugal ... and you NEVER stop daily shopping! Never! I am on the carnivore diet and thankfully, includes the same brand you purchased MANCHEGO cheese! So affordable €5.25 than in US prices: Asombre! My studio has a dorm room 'frige so I buy my Angus burgers and steaks/entrecotes every 2-3 days. Thankfully, our stores in Coimbra are open 8a-8p, no shutting down for summer and 7/7. Yeah, sorry, it is going to be shopping every 2-3 days for fresh produce in Portugal and Spain. €42 is about Portugal costs today's haul.
Alex did a good job with the cam you better hire him. I heard most of Europe takes a nap. My cousin was in Italy and they take a nap in the afternoon. The grocery you shop at, is that close like a trader Joe's.
We have been living in Italy since May and it’s hard getting use to going to the grocery store more often. In the states I did grocery pick up and would buy a lot at once. We have a tiny market down the street I walk to here.
This is truly so, so cool! I am very happy and proud of your move. I think it is incredible and very brave and inspiring. I love the cultural differences and learning about them. I am curious what Christmas time will look like in Spain! I imagine very beautiful. Looking forward to your next adventures ❤
Hey Ale, you are doing great! You 'll get used to everything, closed stores, food etc. The USA are much more customer friendly but WELCOME TO EUROPE! Greetings from Germany 😉
Lovely video, I am looking forward to more about your new life in Spain :) And your son handles the camera so well! TEDi btw is a German non-food company with shops all over Europe.
Hi! Tedi is a German chain. I think the equivalent in the US would be something like Dollar Tree 😊 I discovered recently your channel, so I am catching up about it. You are a lovely family. I hope you have a great experience living in my country. Please don´t take it badly but small businesses, usually a one person or family business, close between 2 and 5 not for siesta (sorry, I really can´t stand that false idea that everybody seems to believe outside of Spain). You probably know already that lunch is the main meal in Spain, usually we start sometime around 1:30-2:30 even at 3, at least during the week and people who have or work at a small business close at 2 because they have to go home for lunch, cook/prepare the meal, maybe buy something or do some errands or administrative tasks on their way, eat, pick up, etc. and then have to go back to work. Some may eat somewhere close by but the majority have or want to go home because we like home-made food and it is more expensive to eat out regularly. And that takes time, especially since most people use public transportation. Of course even if not the norm, some may have a little nap during those hours if they have enough time after lunch which is the actual reason for closing during those hours, not siesta. Siesta is mostly a myth, although as I said some may take a nap but it is mainly during the weekends especially younger people who went out partying the previous night until really early morning hours (been there when I was a student 😅) or by the elderly like my father who never ever had siestas during his working life and only does it since he retired and not even at the beginning. And it is usually just a 15-20 (top 30) minutes thing. Then normal closing time is 8:30 or 9. People in Spain as you also probably know, have dinner later although it is not a heavy meal at all. That is more lunch and the reason why it all takes longer in the middle of the day so they close. Definitely in summer, especially August many small businesses are closed because it is main vacation month in Spain, as it is all over Europe actually. Some people take vacation nowadays in July or September instead of August but still like 90% are gone in August. What you described about the appointment at the Ayuntamiento is exactly like it is here in Germany where I live, a total nightmare to get an appointment 🤦♀ the constant refreshing the page online, no appointment in like months (one or two weeks actually sounded like a dream) and then there is always some paper missing, or not everything can be done electronically 😩 Keep the cool, administrative tasks are a pain in Europe in general. But I am sure and hope that everything will turn out to be good with the kids´s school☺
TEDi (formerly T€Di[4] as an abbreviation for Top Euro Discount[5]) is a German non-food retailer with 2699 (as of May 2022) shops[1] in Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Slovakia, Spain, Croatia, Italy, Poland, Portugal and France.[6] The product range includes everyday consumer goods. In addition to household, party, DIY and electrical goods, it also includes stationery and toys as well as drugstore and cosmetic products. There are also seasonal items and an increasing number of branded goods[1].
Are you enjoying the experience? I wonder if you notice how cheerful you are? Even after a long day shopping etc.! You seem very at home already! Looking forward to the Kat video!
$52 WOW.....THAT WAS A LOT OF STUFF. YOU'D HAVE PAID 3X THAT HERE IN THE STATES 😮😮😮. GIRL, YOU'LL NEVER EVER NEED THE GYM OR A DIET WITH ALL THAT WALKING. NOT THAT YOU NEED IT EITHER, YOU'RE IN GREAT SHAPE 😉❤️. CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEXT VIDEO. HOPE YA GET EVERYTHING STRAIGHTENED OUT FOR THE BOY'S SCHOOLS AND Y'ALL'S RESIDENCY. XO FROM TEXAS 🤠.

Really enjoyed seeing your food haul! Interesting to see how it differed from your old TJs hauls! I love food content so if you go out to eat I'd love to see what you get! :)
Thank you for these videos and taking us along of the great new adventure in your life. It’s just warms my heart and reminds me of when we moved to Spain, with no clue of what we were doing. Have you opened a bank account yet? Maybe it’s different now but in 2012 omg what a nightmare.
I would check for updates for iMovie and if it’s on your laptop I would suggest to check your storage on your computer and maybe restart the computer best to do is use a external hard drive to back up everything incase your computer decides to crash or something
Ive got to ask? Besides clothes pictures what other stuff did you bring from Florida? I just tried to order brush you said was out of stock. Im on list to be notified. Why dont eggs have to be refrigerated?
I loved going shopping with you. This is such a different lifestyle. It looks like a beautiful town and the shops don’t seem too crowded. It must be a huge change for you all but that too can be good. Happy that you met Kat. She has not been vlogging much last few months. Enjoy everything.💖🙏🇨🇦
Curious, compared to similar store in Orlando (not Trader Joe or Aldi) the food seems more expensive especially in the regards to potions. Is this the case? 🤔

You have adapted so well to the European way of life. Its very common to buy smaller amounts more regularly in Europe. Thankyou for sharing 😊

It’s been so hard to slow down! Like actually slow down, because yes, in the US, “slow days” were still productive.
Seems like she's constantly coming and going.
I've noticed that many businesses in a lot of countries close for at least two hours in the middle of the day or open later in the day and although I hate it as a tourists it's great for the workers. We are really overworked in the United States.

Your makeup 💄 and eyelashes look flawless! You should consider modeling!

Is it always this difficult to move to other countries? I watch house hunters international And it seems so easy!
I’m sure it does have its challenges for people. Even if it’s a move that was wanted, it’s still a big change.
Curious, compared to similar store in Orlando (not Trader Joe or Aldi) the food seems more expensive especially in the regards to potions. Is this the case? 🤔
I’m still trying to figure all that out!
@@WonderfullyAle Gotcha, either way loving that rolling basket you took with you to market.

Yes I am!
Ale, are you no longer a flight attendant?
Yes I am.
When did Alex become a man? His voice is so deep and he is no longer a little boy.
