Prediction: one person walks in opens the lock, leaves it open, then accomplice comes in and steals. I can see they think they're going somewhere with this, but they didn't think it through good enough.
i guess the concept is whoever opened it last is responsible, and all their info is on the app. it's not perfect but atleast CVS will have footage and info on whoever is assisting in the theft.
@@TheJuggernaut88even if they can't charge the first person with helping theft, they can kick them from the app and have them do it the old fashion way.
Then thryll design it so its like leaving your atm account open...youll be held accountable for missing any and all items missing after doors are open, unless they are closed..
The locked cases are a hassle though I think the app would make it easier to steal and people will also leave the cases open. Now if the cases had a timer that auto closes, this would be a great idea.
Why not just clear all merchandise from the floor and have customers order from a kiosk? Once ordered, the employee will go to the back, load up and your order, and hand it off to you.
I actually agree for everything but food. I don't need them intentionally trying to grab everything that's about to expire, or load up on subpar product they would have been forced to mark down for clearance.
@@P.90.603It isn't quite as egregious as a wealthy person eating at a soup kitchen just to save a few bucks. I'm not going to look down on you though. Unless you are some fatcat trying to clean off the shelves because they are cheap, we all good lol.
why even have these stupid cases? and saving time? you can save a lot of time by not having them. and you'll lose customer loyalty with everything locked up
Because the security guy is doing one job only, to provide security to the store. If he was helping customers, other thieves will take advantage of the opportunity to steal other things and dash out of the door.
Can the account of the person who unlocks be ascertained ? Will this only be for CVS account holders? Can name & address of all who unlock be obtained? What's to stop a thief from unlocking and stealing?
Point of app is now if you open it and steal from them, they have your information since downloaded app. Also, if you forget to close it and they get robbed, they will blame you for opening it... Dont worry, the ceo of CVS last year only made 21.6 million , 16.2 of which came from stocks 👍, so you see, retail theft really hurting their salaries hard ya know
The simple solution here is to just remove the locks altogether because that has the same level of effectiveness as the new system, but without all the invconvenience of the new system.

They can't prosecute anyway
CVS can get away with it: they own the middleman for drug distribution. Monopolies, too big to fail.
Half the ppl will leave it open.

That's the American way.
@@jinsu0504That would happen once, and then the stores would be battling the five armies until they rolled back the entire program.
At my CVS the high prices keep me from touching anything.
How about deal with the criminals??
Stealing is part of American culture.
Looks like people won’t be shopping! Too much of a hassle. Online shopping only
It's easier to preplan at Amazon than to deal with physical retail.
leaves out all of us with flip phones and no "apps"
The CVS in my neighborhood has not put any merchandise behind locks yet. I figured when it does, that’s the red flag for me to move out of that town.
Ghettofication in progress

They would rather do this than hire enough staff.

They have to unlock ICE CREAM at my CVS.
SOUNDS DANGEROUS,They're just asking for a lawsuit.. customers are NOT going to be free security for big box stores
Doesn't bother me im so poor i can only afford dollar tree 🎄
I go to dollar tree for portion control but people look down on me

Why should I give all my personal information to CVS?
They are one of 4 corporations that virtually own 99.9% of the human race.
KEEP IT LOCKED UP!! I DO NOT CARE ABOUT WAITING!!
full circle moment. So why even have the glass at all?😂
I think it might deter thieves if opening it requires giving their info.
@limperatrice hmm intresting point actually but I suppose they could find a way around that evetually
CVS just wants your personal information, more ways to track YOU and your purchases.
Bad idea, just put each item in a little steel safe that can be unlocked at the register with a key
Democrat policies got us to this point.
As long as the usual suspects are still out there , merchandise will never be safe
And here we go.
Sorry, looks like you dont have the social credit to buy that brand of deodorant.

how? can we finally physically restrain them???
How about the security guy do his job so you don’t have to lock instead of doing all this

Walgreens is doing that too
That sounds promising. Would like to see that at Walmart.

download a app to buy at register ??? might as well just shop over the app or different store

Not hurting them at all frr just making it easier to place blame on theft

Liberal thinking.. lock up the stuff..not the criminal..😂😂😂
