In creativity I would put Sakaki in higher regard, his uses of reversed attacks and lucifer are just out of this world. Donguri is probably the best freestyle I've seen so far though. DelusionaryKiller is also pretty insane.

Real Dante sandbags all the time so he wouldn't kill a boss very fast anyways. Although I think Sakaki's Credo fight captures toying with boss pretty well.

The joke might have actually been a reference to the reboot since a lot of combos utilize the hooks, enemy hops, etc. which keep you off the ground. (Hence the "floor is lava" joke.)
DMC:Dmc's gameplay wasn't that bad, the problem was that lategame weapons+demon dodge were OP, colored enemies were a terrible mistake and the lack of lock-om changing was ass. The style ranks being kept until you take damage instead of slowly going down would've been fine if the enemies were more aggressive like the OG games. And Floating Trigger was dumb.

I think, you reached this level of awesomeness is by mastering the moves to the point where you don't need to worry about whether your hits will land or not and that your moves are now muscle memory. Therefore, your whole concentration is dedicated to what the opponent is doing and what to do to not get hit. It's the same mentality as mastering injustice or MK
DMC5 is pretty cool, don't get me wrong. But, I was sad to see that some of the more exciting tricks didn't make it in. Having more weapons is pretty damn awesome, but it feels like something is missing.
Those “Tricks” were nothing but bugs the developers never caught in the game. Literally no one besides pros who have thousands of hours into DMC use these tricks, and to even perform them you have to use the claw technique on a PlayStation controller which is absolute murder on your hands.

This is why I enjoy DMC more than Souls games. In this game you are always on the same playing field as the boss, and have all the tools to beat them. It's just a matter of skill and speed to keep them in a combo. In Souls you need certain character build and weapons to even stand a chance which often boils down to simple grinding and knowing what to do via trial and error. Knowing when to attack a boss lest you get instakilled. Here, you make your own openings and break THEIR combos. It's super satisfying because you're getting clear visual feedback that you're doing well via your combos themselves.
