How to Use TikTok Family Pairing - TikTok Family Safety Mode

- TikTok has added a new feature called Family Pairing so parents can make sure their kids and teens are safe on the app. Watch this video to learn how to enable Family Safety Mode and make use of these parental controls.

Family Safety Mode will allow parents to link their own TikTok account to their child’s, and allow them to control certain aspects of the child’s account for the sake of their safety and digital wellbeing. You can decide how long you want your teen to be able to spend on the app, as well as limit or disable messaging. You can also restrict what type of content you want to allow your child to see on TikTok.
To set this up, you’ll need both the parent and teen’s devices ready and signed in to their respective accounts. On each device, go to your TikTok profile. Tap the three dots in the top right corner. Scroll down and select Digital Wellbeing. Then tap Family Pairing. Select whether this account is being used by a parent or by a teen. Here you can read a little more about family pairing. Tap Continue at the bottom. You should see a QR code on the parent’s screen. To link the parent and teen accounts together, hold the teen’s device above the QR code, then tap Scan Code on the teen’s device. The QR code will be scanned. Now tap Link Accounts. To confirm, tap Link. Family Pairing will now be enabled. On the parent account, you’ll have options to set restrictions for Screen Time Management, Restricted Mode, and Direct Messaging. The teen will be able to see how the parent has set these options, but will not have the ability to change them on their own.
At any time, the parent can choose to remove Family Pairing by tapping Unlink at the bottom of the account management settings page.

I’m now locked out from switching to my 2 personal accounts on my phone and my sons account is the only one usable 🤦🏻♀️ I made sure my phone was parent and his iPad was the teen. I clicked “unlink” but says I have to wait 48 hours. I cant even sign out😣 this makes no sense!

TikTok's algorithm does its best to identify and filter out inappropriate content when family safety mode is enabled.
They’ll just create another account you don’t know about.

This doesn’t really work. Finally put restrictions on my daughters phone, then searched for cardi b with her phone.... 1st thing they came up is WAP. He’ll no, I deleted the app from her phone right away.
They can’t block sounds-
You know you can provide things like this from happening by making the age limit to something under the 13 years old that way it only shows kids content

Its useless as the kid can unlink the account in just a button click. whats the point of it if they giving the kids account the easy option to unlink the account. They shouldn't let kids account to unlink.
The teen does not have the option to unlink, only the parent can initiate an unlink.
@@techlifeunity No, they actually can. I was setting it up on my nephew's phone, and was able to unlink my account from his account

Kinda pissed off because I am 15 and it is family paired because my parents put a time limit of 30 minutes and restricted mode on wtf? Can’t wait to turn 18 when they turn it off and can’t go through my phone 3 times a day. None of my friends have this… why don’t they trust me and why tf are they monitoring so much? I can’t even log out of the account.
One day you’ll get it. You kids are all so easily influenced. Crazy crap on TikTok. Our 15 year old daughter put some very sexy videos on her account and I about died when she gave us a reason to take her phone and look at everything on her phone. Heartbreaking how easily it is to see stuff you may have not even wanted to see. Hang in there. They are just worried.
I’m not a parent but trust me, it’s for the best. Sucks now but will help you in the long run.
