The sound is incredible!
I used to run on that layout as an associate member years ago.A great layout with a great bunch of n scale guys.My train even broke in two at Norden, and rolled back into the tunnel! The resulting crash was spectacular as I tried to catch the runaway at speed as it exited the other porthole on a 2percent grade. About six cars went to the floor that night lol!!!
Now I know why I loved my Lionel trains when I was a Kid. The sound of the trains on the plywood 4x8, Awesome!
That is one sweet layout! Very cool. 😎 love the containers and cars!
Hi great video thanks for posting. Do you have cabooses for your freight trains? Do you have double decker autorack cars for your Amtrak autotrain?
I love N scale. You can have long trains in a small space. This is one of my favorite videos with the new big locos and heavy loaded double containers. Excellent work Amtrak 116. This is exactly what I want to create. The soundtrack is perfect!
I like the sounds that were added.
Great & awesome layout. The BNSF & Amtrak locomotives have that great sound, the train horns are music to my ears. I also have an Amtrak N scale & the Southern Pacific Daylight ser with the Daylight GS4 locomotive number 4449 in my train set which will be my excursion train. I’m in the process of getting my layout started. I made 2 railroad water towers where all I need is to fashion a roof, make the ladders & paint them. I made a town water tower. I made an oil tank for the steam locomotive. I made the railroad water towers & the oil tank from empty Progresso soup cans. My N scale railroad is the Pacific West Coast railroad. My freight locomotives will be that of all railroads that serve the West Coast.
A real inspiration to model railroaders
Anybody else see the spider crawl out of the tunnel as the very first train comes out? LOL! Never seen that before, great realism! Seriously, very nice layout and trains!
Yeah that poor spider got clobbered.
This definitely has the WOW factor..
De belles rames, un superbe réseau. Great layout ,MERCI.
I love these american setups. Long trains, slow speeds
Absolutely beautiful
Cool video. At 2:43 looks like one of the blue train cars has jumped the track.
Love this video, N Scale is the best!
Beautiful scenic and very prototypical operation. Thank you for sharing.
Richard Haight Excellent video, which clearly demonstrates the advantages of preparation and planning. Well done.Another resource I also found that helpfull for how model train layouts plans that is Megarno Railroad Membership Magician - search google if you want.
If you have the Space for long trains use it it is what it is. All Train layouts look good one thing you have to remember Take Pride in it.
omg wow this is out standing
great lay out. love a lot of the simple things you did. look like the oregon and Washington gourge area. awesome!!!!!
really nice stuff...rolling stock is too clean though. May I make a suggestion? When I was a paper boy some 40 years ago one of the customers i delivered papers too had a TV program on local cable. His show was about N scale trains. One of his tricks was to get earth tone make up from the pharmacy and brush it onto his trains to age them. He would use dark greys and blacks for coal dust, browns for dirt, rust/rose for rust...it looked really good. If you gave that a try then sprayed with a fixative I am sure your set will look just that little bit better. Would work on some of the buildings too.
@MegaChallanger amtrak does not use those step down coaches anymore...
when the superline II's came out (not made in n scale) they asked for a transition car,
Superliner I's are made by i belive budd
Superliner II's are made by bombardier
I can't decide what I like better? The cool looking layout or the excellent soundtrack you used in the video? Nice job my friend!
Those double stack trains are colorful and nice. Great scenery and love the Amtrak. Appreciate how you run them at an authentic speed.
awesome vid. nice sound overlay.
Fantastic sound synching! Awesome rock formations make you think you're really in the Columbia River gorge, and the peace sign flasher is great, too, because this video makes you almost forget you're watching N scale! So real! Thanks for posting.
you all probably dont care but does someone know of a way to get back into an instagram account..?
I was stupid forgot my account password. I love any tips you can offer me.
@Clayton Ryder Instablaster =)
@Alexander Amos i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and I'm in the hacking process now.
Takes a while so I will reply here later with my results.
@Alexander Amos it did the trick and I now got access to my account again. I am so happy:D
Thank you so much you saved my ass :D
@Clayton Ryder Glad I could help :D
I don't believe there's a dcc decoder alive that offers the sound of rolling stock and their squeaks, rumbles and other perfectly authentic noises...So how did yea do it? What N scale sound system do you use?
Thanks.Great video,trains,and scenery.Mmmmmmmm
@Amtrak116 that layout dwarfs the Columbia river n-scale in portland. its a club layout. they let me run trains, but I'm not a member. however, i will be a member next year.
Great, smartly-produced video. Thanks for sharing.
WOW! Well Done! Layout, Scale Speed, Trains, Video... Best N Scale Vid on RUclips to date!
Very nice trains and layout and the realistic souns of the trains , the trains look a little to clean but still nice very real sounding !
AWESOME, EXCELLENT and PERFECT !!!!! I enjoyed the trains, scenery, sounds and editing. Keep up the good work.
A really well done layout with great sound effects.
Amtrak 116, is there any way I can get a close up picture/pictures of your Amtrak El Capitan lounge car. I'm trying to model it, and there are just a few bad pictures that doesn't do the car justice. Can you please help a fellow modeler. Please keep up the good work.
Nice layout. Where is the weathering? Shiny plastic sucks.
@Amtrak116 i don't have amtrak cars. but i will get some superliner cars as soon as possible. i have been trying to create the lake shore limited in n-scale. i got the heritage dinning car in phase 3. then i will put phase 4 decals on it.
did you make it from a step down coach made by kato and filled the correct windows, or did you use a standard coach car? when i get a superliner, i will contact you.
nice layout and trains.
very impressive layout.
Iowa 49
Michigan state 7
Please tell me where you got that transition sleeper on that coast starlight. PLEEEEEEEEEASE!! I have been looking for one for a long time now and i need one really bad. please reply!
nice. I went to the Amherst show, now I want to model!!
Are the sounds produced as sensors detect the trains?
How do you mae the landscaping? I can't believe making it all by hand!
Great video.
does amtrak go in Richmond california? (is there a station stop in Richmond.)
great audio mix all you need is smoke and dust
Very cool. Nice job all the way around.
In your industrial areas it looks like there are curved crossovers. Are they hand laid sections or is all your track hand laid?
Great layout,I love the long trains,very cool. What is the estimate cost of a layout this big?
Nice Video 🎥🚂👌👍.
Liebe Grüße aus Deutschland 🇩🇪 von Gert 🙋🏻♂️
@Amtrak116 im going to get one on Tuesday. by the way. nice editing. p.s: i might go to san de-ago on the coast starlight on spring break or in the summer with my grandma. so maybe i might be able to stop by in Richmond to see the club.
pps: i have actually been on the transition sleeper car and spent the night in one! why? well, when i was on the amtrak empire builder, ( been on it 4 times in 4 summers so far) it was 6 hours late,( same as last year exactly) we missed the city of new
@Amtrak116 i know the cars are kato but what i need is the pacer stacktrain and hub group containers, any idea where they were purchased?
@Amtrak116 i saw the coast starlight yesterday at portland union station... with no baggage car.
@MegaChallanger standard superliner coach, if your willing to pay 80 dollars
google lookmodel
first search item
go to online store
click amtrak
then click page 4
and its the third from the bottom
@Amtrak116 orleans and spent the night in Chicago. so we went to the city of new orleans the next night but there was no room on the sleeper. but fortunately there was room on the crew car. so we went in there and spent the night in one
What material did you use for the cement in the intermodal yard, & between the rails. Thank you, Shawn "BET ON A VET"
Very nice
do you mind posting the track plans?
This is a the golden state model railroad museum
is N scale small
I didn't know that there was such realism in N scale. Great sound. Was that Tehachapi loop at 12:04? Very convincing speed. Keep up the good work.
Yes it was the tehachapi loop. I have been here and I have ran my trains
Great layout!!
Where is your sound coming from? The train or under/around layout?
The sound is over-dubbed, and mostly does not match the speed or position of the model. I didn't like it, I'm sorry to say...
haha, yep i didn't think anybody was gonna notice that, i've also gotten a pincherbug caught in my plow once...
thanks!
@fnava1987 those weren't my cars, but they're made by KATO...
What is the radius on the loop, That has to be one massive section.
A layout where the rocks are to scale.
Holy Sheet its Bigfoot @ 6:18!!!! Nice Lay out
@fnava1987 i'm not 100% sure but they might be duluxe innovations
I have a question and I guess I can start here. My dad died 7 years ago, and he had a bit of a collection of N Scale trains, building structures, so forth and so on. I'm not interested in picking up the hobby, and my mom wants them gone because she plans on moving and retiring out of state. Much of them I believe are used. Do these N scale trains and cars have any value to them? Are they worth my time selling or should I just toss them at the dump? I don't know if the engine cars work and I know a lot of them are roughly a hundred bucks brand new..... I'm going to copy and paste this on a couple related videos and I hope someone can point me in the right direction
I'll take em from you.
Is a track plan available?
@MegaChallanger cool, so... no need to build one?
To the owner of this layout, @5:35, how were you able to get the DPU lights to shine in the opposite direction of how it is running?
DCC?
WHERE WERE THESE 53' CONTAINERS PURCHASED?
what kind of sound was used on this layout?
First train? Locomotive?
Nice.
@MegaChallanger looks like they have a sale on them!
Got a question for everyone, of these 2 train manufacturers for N Scale locomotives excluding KATO and Athearn, which do you know is good and will last for a long time Atlas, or Walthers ?
To be completely honest I prefer Kato, the attention to detail is amazing (except for not painting handrails, but it is easy so I can do it myself). I usually find Kato engins cheaper than I can Atlas. But between Atlas and Walthers I would choose Atlas. They are long lasting and great running engins I love the ones I have and have never had a problem with them. But a word of caution the older Atlas engins have a different motor, the good ones are the slow speed motors. Do your research on any Atlas unit you may want to purchase on the internet. The Atlas website is easy to navigate and find the complete production rosters for all the locomotives they have ever done. I hope this has helped.
This layout - the size of the room please.
@MegaChallanger we're open from april to december!
I you had to, which would you pick?
A: HO/OO Scale
B: N-Scale
C: Either
If this is an open question,
B: N-scale
B
B
B: N-Scale
Two bad they don't sound like that. O and S gauge have pretty good sound. Nice video anyway.
@Alwaystrains thanks!
@Amtrak116 correct.
@Amtrak116 w, wa, wa,wai, wait a minuet. they restocked! they finally restocked!
Noisy little buggers, eh? ;^)
@MegaChallanger northbound? i dunno why tho...
Gee, a $1000 train. How special
@Aero203 thanks!
@MegaChallanger Yep, we're the biggest on the west coast! if you dont mind i'd prefer it if you wrote vie youtube mail... and not post so many comments :-)
Rare isn't the word. It pretty much exist in name only in the US. It's pretty popular in Eastern Europe and Russia. Ironically, it's the only scale invented here and it has as close to zero representation as it can get. I've never seen anything in TT scale in real life. Not even at any of the dozens of train shows I've been to over the years. It's really a nice size. Shame it has no domestic following worth mentioning.
Like you I had to drop to N because of a lack of space.
Bruh. U have an amazing layout. But for gods sake. Get some dcc souns chips. Good lord. Or find better audio files.
Amtrak
116 is good
@NscaleAmtrak Yep! GSMRM.org
@MegaChallanger yup...
@bbobs327 Thank You!

@Kalle1821 Thanks!!
