Black headed Grosbeak

This adult male Black-headed Grosbeak is singing on territory in Orange County, CA. The video was taken through the Swarovski ATX 85 Spotting Scope and shows what beautiful video can be taken with a spotting scope at much higher magnifications and distance than with just camera alone.

I was out birding one time and I kept hearing this call!! I had no idea what kind of bird it was and was so fascinated yet frustrated. So glad I know now :) thank you!

This is a juvenile bird that hasn't been out of the nest long, the fluffy feathers are like down but it will soon loose them. A bird is considered an adult after it's first year.

Live nearby where it was videotaped...I have these visit me in my yard. Black sunflower seeds and the females have stripe head males are solid black head..🕶
