thansk for the idea. i'll give it a try! what was that 1st tune you played?
The Virginia, a great Irish tune. There's a lesson for it on the site :)
Thanks! that's fantastic @@MandoLessons
I bought a mandolin for my grandson after watching a bunch of different excellent mando channels I chose an inexpensive Ibanez and sanded and fitted the bridge and was really pleased with it and start my mandolin journey with many of the good mando_tubers like you💯thank you Shawn
I very often tune down. GDAE tuning just isn't the world for me. Some people are stuck on GDAE But to me the lower tones are pleasing. Thanks for bringing the topic up and now I know I'm not the only one !
I tried this and it works brilliantly easier to play my Celtic music really fast and makes the strings ring, a great mellow tone. Thanks for the idea. 🤩👍Ps , keep them coming.
I did just that a few weeks ago. Tuned one of my mandolins down to E B F# C# and loved it!
I got a cheaper mandolin recently and I feel like this would be a great way to keep it in the rotation!
Thanks very much Baron, I'll try the first suggestion. Take care, David.
Thanks for this, Baron! I’m gonna give that a try
Awesome idea. I'll do it right away.
😅 I regularly play guitar in dropped tunings and even open tunings. So far, I never considered being able to retune the mandolins too. So thanks for the inspiration!🤦🏻♂️😅
164th subscriber LIKE; 2,225th listen/view - cool idea. Since I have more than one, could even leave one tuned down. Thanks for the suggestion & demonstration.
Great idea. And use of a capo may reduce any inconvenience of changing the tunings up and down.. I just wish all Mandolins had 10 strings. Give me a low or high cittern anyway.
I love this instrument. I am still learning. How old is the mandolin ? Where is its origin ?🤔🤔
Great think to do 😂
That was pretty. Thanks!
Whats the tuneing again ?
What a good idea!
😮
i tune my mandolin down a whole step just like my banjo, i find it produces a more mellow tone and its a little easier on the fingers.
Once you get the to show how to play the chords to the songs it should get easier from there.
Nice
I would love to try this, but I'm a novice mando player, and I'm reading music from tabs. How would tuning the mando to F, C, G, D alter how i read standard mando tabs?
No it remains the same
You can still play the tabs as written, but you’ll be in a different key.
THAT'S MY EXACT TUNING I use all the time! E the first note on a guitar pitch pipe. It's easier on the instrument to have it tuned lower. By the way, stop fidgeting so much, is your shirt made of ants or what? Are you cold? What's up? 😬😳😐
