As soon as you started your call my German shepherd popped her head up eyes wide on alert. She also knew it was a distress call. Very cool.

I've got 2 younger squirrels living in some pine trees behind my house. I've been feeding them the last 6 days or so. Been able to get about 5 ft from them. Just tried this call, and both of them came out. They're talking to each other right now, and watching me from the tree.

This call totally works!! I have one living in my River birch tree in my front yard. I was sitting on my porch swing and started playing it and he flew out of his nest fast as hell trying to locate where it was coming from. 😂😂

My kid had placed some almonds on the sidewalk but it scared them away. I played your video and a minute later there they were. I am literally sitting at the park at 7:19pm and I’m so excited because this call does work . Until they figure out we were human lol they stood up and gather closer to the sound they appeared to have their ears on alert and then they noticed and got up in the tree lol it was cool though 😁

Lol the call is meant to call in squirrels from a distance. If they are already in sight, some will hide but the adults will usually come to the source of the call.

Yes, yes, I remember that when I was young man in Laos, I used tall glasses made squirrels barking or screaming was pretty much attractive for calling giant black cobra snake or jungle yellow giant snakes were coming to you so I have seen many times. I stopped to do squirrels barking anymore giant black cobra and green giant snake in the jungles most likely come to you if you made squirrels barking anyway.

I have been working with my squirrels in the backyard to come to food….I had squirrels in Massachusetts that came inside and ate out of my hand…since moving to Ohio there are too many people feeding my neighborhood squirrels so they are skittish, but I played this sound and had 4 come out of the trees to come and get some graham crackers from me….AMAZING!!

I have a pet squirrel and that for real sounds like a baby squirrel LOL! He would do that when he was little when he wanted attention or was hungry. The sound they make when they want you to play with them is a bit more relaxed and slightly longer and goes down in tone. See if you can try to do that one and if they react differently LOL!

Lol if you are a hunter, that’s when you take a shot!
It’s sad and morally wrong to get them to come out on a distress call. Churrs are a sound equaling anger. Barks are normally warnings and that last squealing sound is of a terrorized squirrel fighting for its life or that of its babies. So yes, it’s a distress call but do you really want to use it?
Especially every day? Remember, you only need to get their attention once. They’re very smart. Try leaving out a durable plastic bag filled with unsalted peanuts in shells. A bag that’ll crackle when touched. NOT flimsy plastic bread comes in but the kind cereals like Quaker Granola, Oats, Honey, Raisins and Almond Mix come in.
I once left a quarter of abag of that brand granola outside when I ran out of nuts. They must’ve spent a lot of time in that bag b/c days later when I eventually found it underneath the trampoline the crackling sound it made when handling it brought them out in no time.
After the revelation I started putting inexpensive unsalted bulk peanuts in shells inside until I no longer needed to use it. Now they respond to the sound of me opening the sliding door to my backyard and/or calling them by names I’ve given them.
You can shake a container of mixed nuts too.
The goal is to make them associate the sound of you shaking/opening the food container with you feeding them rather than scaring the crap outta them every day.
I just asked Siri, “What do baby squirrels sound like and when she answered both my Golden Retrievers made a mad dash to the backyard deck so I’m pretty sure that’d work too 😂
The sound of them cracking acorns will work well too as it did for me at my other home. So too did audio I recorded of birds flocking to seeds I threw onto the deck b/c they know wherever birds congregate there’ll be something there for them too. Happy feeding 😊

I just tried this with the squirrels in my backyard....they all stopped what they were doing & ran away to hide! Most went inside their nests/homes in the trees. I've got about 20 squirrels (more than that but that's a rough estimate) that live in my immediate backyard. I feed them all the time, I even have a water dish, tiny pool & tiny picnic tables for them. They swim in the pool during the summer & I put fresh water in daily. The picnic tables get food on them. They come to my back door & call for me when they want food. I was in hopes this sound would draw them in for better hand feeding. lol not so much luck on that.
This is more of a distress call that calls in squirrels that are far away. If they are already close to you, most will startle.

I've read the reviews but I got nothing. I have squirrels in my area but especially in my yard I feed hand to mouth to particular squirrels. A couple eats from my lap and I allow one to take from my pocket. Anyway, haven't seen any squirrels in sight anywhere in the neighborhood. Thought for sure it would call out the backyard squirrels. Didn't work. 🤔 They respond to my call but not today. Curious. Thank you, though. I wonder why this occasionally happens. Would you know?
Thanks for watching! I’m not sure why all the squirrels have disappeared. There could be a predator in the area or it could just be the day also. Sometimes I’ll not see my backyard squirrels for a few days also before I start seeing them again. Maybe they’re off in a different area searching for food or they have young babies that they are spending more time in the nest.
Thanks for the video! I officially started my small game hunting hobby this Tuesday. I downloaded this video to use during my hunt. It served me well. It was able to call in 4 squirrels. I killed one and was unable to shoot the other 3. They came within 5ft of me which shocked me. Lol. I went the whole day and tried many locations. I guess this doesn't work on the park squirrels in California. They are too smart.
Instead, I rustle/rattle the plastic bag the peanuts are in and they come running every time!

@@MNMadeAdventures Nope. No Squirrels in sight and I used your call - no squirrels came a running. The peanut bag has always done the trick to getting them to come out of the woodwork. I'll try to get a video for proof.
First step when you find a baby squirrel should always be Do nothing but to try return to mom to begin with-unless obviously injured or found by a cat: then seek vet or rehabber immediately as cat saliva is toxic for squirrels which requires antibiotics and any obvious injuries will require evaluation and treatment by a qualified professional
Place baby in plastic container with air flow holes with a fleece (cardboard dehydrates and bedding needs to be anything but terry cloth/towel material to prevent claw catching or breakage or injured digits) and with a sock filled with microwaved dried rice or beans (reheated and well mixed for hotspots every 2 hours) to keep baby warm because mom will not recollect a cold baby then you will need to Play RUclips video (LIKE THIS ONE) of baby calling mom while keeping an eye out for predators or males that may harm baby
Bring in at nightfall and try again at dawn for at least 24-36 hours
If the baby is obviously dehydrated already and you have some small animal experience you can get 0.5 mL/cc Oring syringe from any pharmacy (usually by simply asking or explaining situation) and try to give the baby warm (101-110 degree) plain pedialyte but please literally only single drops at a time because getting liquid in it’s lungs will kill it via pneumonia (the most dangerous thing that happens to them after find is incorrect feeding). Also their bathroom functions must be stimulated by rubbing with warm wet surface (like cotton ball) at every feeding-ideally trying before and after each feeding to express any waste that you can.
PLEASE DO NOT GIVE ANY NUTS OR SEEDS!!! anything but the specific formula it needs can be incredibly harmful (including fatal)
Should be feeding fox valley day one 2050 formula to squirrels over four weeks old…
And a homemade formula for under 4 weeks… some use fox valley 3240 but many have experienced stomach issues so, like me, do not recommend it
Esbalic is a temporary solution and has 34% crude protein (1 and 1/2 times the 20% squirrels need) and is much too low in fat for a healthy squirrel whom is safeguarded against MBD as it grows and then goes through puberty and breeding over the first year of life… and esbilac has been specifically called out twice for causing squirrels problems in three years…
Please don’t feed squirrels puppy milk long term: unfortunately because the lack of correct calcium to phosphorus ratio in puppy milk you release them and then they develop terrible health problems months later from the poor diet
Captive squirrels require a specific diet to be healthy in the long term
Order fox valley day one 2050 for squirrels over four weeks old and mix in a 2 parts water to one part formula solution that you allow to rest for at least 4 hours before feeding and discard 24 hours after making
Only reheat portion you need for single feeding and discard any formula that has been heated even if it’s unused
Store formula in refrigerator for 24 hours or freeze and thaw as need if prefer large batches (usually ice cube trays best for portioning)
Using a Miracle nipple with a 1 or 3 mL o ring syringe is the only widespread acceptable feeding method but baby must be fully hydrated (usually 24 hours via pedialyte) and warm in order to be fed… the only acceptable feeding positions are upright or with squirrels on tummy and holding miracle nipple paw areas if old enough
Without experience the baby will be aspirated and die of pneumonia so get training from a wildlife vet or rehabber before ever considering feeding a baby squirrel… your help is fatal no matter how good intentioned it is if you don’t put in the effort to get the help to do it right…
While waiting on fox valley make homemade formula
6 tbs goat milk (fresh fully rehydrated)
6 tbs plain flavored Greek probiotic yogurt (full fat)
4tbs heavy cream,
1 egg yolk
Formula need to set up for 4-8 hours before using and be discarded daily (if not frozen in individual or daily portions-usually people do this using an ice tray)
Begin by getting 0.5, 1.0 and 3.0 cc or mL syringe (ideally oring) From any local pharmacy -generally they will get them out if you explain what they’re doing-start with only giving Pedialyte plain flavored for the first 24 hours drop by drop until you get used to feeding…feeding schedule is determined by age and starts at every 2-3 hours and slowly becomes more distant between each feeding as they age
If it comes out of their nose then you are aspirating them and they will likely get pneumonia… if That happens to you then you’ll need to seek out antibiotics from vet or rehabber and someone to help teach you feeding techniques
Baby should be kept in a plastic container with fleece and a heating pad set to low under half of a tub with air holes (cardboard dehydrates and materials like terry cloth cause claws to and even fingers to break So badly that the squirrel can lose them) and left in that plastic with heat source until fully furred before moving to short cage to begin learning how to climb. Continue formula until squirrel self weans around 20 weeks but offer squirrel or rodent blocks from when squirrel opens eyes until it’s eating at least 2 per day before introducing any vegetables. Do not introduce any fruit until eating 2-3 blocks and 7-10 thumb sized (or one inch) pieces of high calcium vegetables and even then only at 1-2 pieces per day and after around 12-16 weeks old. Nuts are not recommended at all prior to 16-20 weeks and even then should be a rare treat considering nuts are only available annually in the wild and their high phosphorus content is fatal to squirrels if given in excess…
