The first charging cable isn't anything special. It's a 30 pin, samsung had a very similiar one too. There wasn't much effort put into it, it looked like that because of costs, making a smaller male and female port would be too expensive

I actually liked the older 30 pin cable then the newer 30 pin cable because the older one lasted forever where the newer one falls apart only a few weeks of using it
