DASH SAMURAI - Ep.1: A Y62 Patrol Exhaust That Sounds Like You Have Headers (Without Headers) 💨

- At DASH OffRoad we have had the luxury of fitting many types of exhausts to Y62 Patrol's within our 4x4 DNA workshop and listening to how different setups sound. We challenged ourselves to a design the best exhaust we could come up with irrespective of cost. In the plan, we have chosen to use premium materials, thicker flagnes (as we know they can warp of supercharged applications) with a target sound of a VK56 with headers, but without bolting on headers, if yo know what I mean.
After many experiments we have chosen an "X" pipe before the centre muffler which allows the gases from the lft and right bank of the V8 engine to interact, hence eliminating the negative "thong slap" noise that is discussed on forums. The muffler has twin 3" inlets so to us it makes sense to have the same twin 3" outlets, this means there is equal speed of gasses entering and exiting the box, preventing unessicery heat and less thermal stress on the material.
Utilising 441 stainless steel, a material known for minimal stress from heat cycling and with additional chomes gives a premium look that will last for years. All fixings are premium using the highest quality graphite gaskets with fire rings and cone nuts to minimise the bolts coming loose.

Keen to upgrade from my thong slapper pacemaker but tow a heavy van and don’t want drone, how does this one stack up on the drone side of things towing 3T? Great work guys
It’s pretty good but there is still a small amount of drone. If you want to escape drone go for the DASH Zero mid section
hopefully sounds better than that middle section of the video haha time to invest in a mic. was interesting to see the inside of the factory exhaust.

Sounds nearly exactly like manta cat back with high flow cats
We found it eliminates the thong slap that you get with the Manta Loud system
Would love to hear this system with no cat delete pipes so basically a cat back setup👌🏽..

We did indeed delete x2 cats

Yes, it’s all pretty tight in that space, but yes
