Yes, it is necessary if you want it to be effective. It works by sucking in the air in 360 degree, not with magic spells. The percentage of filter surface you block with obstacles (such as walls) will reduce its effectiveness proportionally.

Your logic makes sense. You bought an air purifier and complaining about it doing it's job and cleaning it once a month. How lazy are you? Do you not vacuum your home more than once a month?
This review was… odd.. “You may have to clean the purifier at least once a month” Hmm.. You should be cleaning your home/wiping down furniture on a weekly/bi weekly basis.. “It only has 7 days of air quality, it should have maybe a year or 2” Why? That’s a waste of cloud space. Why would I care about my air quality 2 years ago if my air is clean now? Lol
True Airlifters Purifier should recycle and clean air to get a better air quality not cleaning the whole room for him lol ,, But that dust coating the device made me a bit concern about the area surrounding the device. I might also get the point about air quality history he wants to know the reading so when he upgrades to a new device, he will be able to know if the device is better or Air quality stays the same as the old device !!
This machine releases very bad smell even it's a new machine or with a new filter. Dyson should recall this product. i'm afraid of the smell being harmful to our health.
Never buy an air purifier that does not have washable dust filter . The dust will clog up the other filters long before the HEPA and other filters expire . He has not owned this purifier very long and check out the dust coating the device … that dust will coat the filters and will block the airflow over a short time . I had a fan i used every day . I eventually noticed airflow was reduced a huge amount . I forgot to clean out the dust . I cleaned the dust out and got full airflow back . Honestly its just plain silly to not have a washable dust filter on any air purifier .. another con is , sure you can adjust the angle the air comes out of this but full air flow only comes out a 50deg angle. Seen this with other videos as well demonstrating this unit . For long lasting , most effective clearing of odors you need a filter full of activated carbon pellets . Also need a sound test for air purifiers . I hate using anything fan based that has any annoying knocks, rattles , or whistles . The design and quality of parts can change unwanted sounds drastically . When anyone is reviewing anything with a fan i need to hear it on all speed levels to know if it will work for me . I am sensitive to various off sounds . When i sleep at night if there is any variation other then the sound of blowing air , i cannot get to sleep . Also does this purifier use a brushless dc motor . They all should . I bought a pedestal fan recently that uses a brushless dc motor and it is far better then any ac motor driven fan . I only paid $35 for my fan so i know these motors are low price . To me they are a must for anything fan based . If you , in the end decide to buy one of these i would get the BP04 . If you are already spending around $1000 it just makes more sense to me to pay $100 more to get everything it offers . This is the way i buy things. I bought a dishwasher and washing machine in the past year . I looked at models around $800-$1100 . I ,in both cases paid a little more to get all features . If you are going to use a product a lot . Especially if its every day , just makes more sense to me to pay that little bit more
You can clean these. There's three layers of filters inside. Vacuum the ones that can't be washed. Wash the ones that can. Replacement only necessary every couple of years.

Do you think they will release a big and quiet heat and cool? So far the hp09 is too small for a large space.
