This is literally THEE BEST "How To" video on this! It's super easy to follow, simple to understand, not overly detailed yet perfectly explained! I'm now your newest sub! 👌🏻 Much Obliged! 👌🏻
Thank you so much. This is exactly what I need. My cactus grew up so big and I have not enough room. Now I can make some friends happy with a gift I planned to give to them. ❤ 🙏.
To avoid rot, try and place the cuttings in dry soil. Keep cuttings in indirect light for 1-2 weeks, then add water once it's more established! Or you can leave the clippings out for a couple days before you add to soil. Best of luck!
I have used gravel from an aquarium also. Like Tenney said it just helps keep them out of too much water. I have done it without anything in the bottom also. I prefer to have the gravel or small rocks in the bottom. Just seems to work better for me.
Awesome results either way but wow did they seem to like the water!! I’ve had my cuttings resting and slooowly developing roots, but nothing as good as yours! I’m wondering if mine need more sun and maybe my tap water is the problem 🤔 hmmmm….
I used tap water as well, so i think you're fine there! The saran wrap really seemed to help with it creating a humid environment. I would try that and see if it helps at all 😊And more sun isn't a bad idea too.
I’m having terrible luck with both methods maybe I left them too long. I will shorten. My water ones turned pale and mushy. My soil one very droopy. Help😢

First time I see you, I subscribed. Nice Christmas Cactus 😍
Thank you!
Thank you for doing this experiment!
Do you change the water out over the month, or just fill it once and leave it alone? Thanks for the tips! :)
Great question! I would change the water if it became cloudy or discolored and I would also add more water if it got too low.
How long do you wait before switching the leaves from water propagation to soil plz
I usually wait until the roots are over an inch long 😊

Thank you videos
Okay new Subscribe
Thanks for subbing! 💛
I believe for soil propagation that you need to let the ends callus over for 2-3 days, then wet and dip in rooting hormone before placing in soil.
Thank you for the tip! I’ll try that next time!
These are very easy to propagate.
Are the rocks necessary?
Not really, it just helped me keep them from sitting in too much water at once.

Thanks for the tips. With the water technique, do you eventually put the cactus in soil?
Yes! Once I got the roots about 1-2inches long, I placed them in soil.
How often do you suggest to water the soil propagation?
It depends on your conditions, but I'd aim to keep the soil moist and not too dried out. For my environment, it fell between every 7-9 days.
Did you ever add water to the water propagation?
Great question! Yes, I added water when it got low OR if the water became cloudy or discolored.
I’m having terrible luck with both methods maybe I left them too long. I will shorten. My water ones turned pale and mushy. My soil one very droopy.
Help😢
If your Thanksgiving or Christmas cactus in in a container indoors the aerial roots mean the plant is trying to obtain more water, light or nutrients.
I had my cuttings in water for 3 wks with no roots. I placed them in soil today, giving them one last chance
I hope it works out for you!
You need to update your supply list and your links bring you to products that are unavailable.
Thanks for letting me know! I’ll update those right away
They are called Christmas cactus but they are in fact not a cactus at all.
