    Spot on with your comments regarding the OMJM. I bought mine new 5 years ago and every year that goes by it opens up and the wood ages, gets more orange, and less stiff to play. Excellent guitar!

    I have one of these, my folks got it for me as a high school graduation gift back in 2012, when I got in my hands, I knew it was something special. Still have it and looking forward to making more memories with it in 2025!

    I own an OMJM and it’s one of the guitars I’ve held on to over the years. The neck is great for my smaller hands, it sounds awesome with the finger style playing I do, and the guitar stays in tune more than any other guitar I’ve owned. It’s a great guitar.

    Just got mine today. It absolutely sings. I take it out of the case just to look at it's so dang beautiful. Can't wait to log many miles on this guitar for years to come! It really does have the JM signature sound.

    People who are looking at the best budget Martin should buy the MMV models . I'm currently wanting a OM MMV . I have the dreadnought MMV with the ebony fretboard. Some were made with richlite and I think that is what led players away from them . They are all USA made . It was a Guitar Center exclusive model . I've seen some going for under $1k . That is a great deal in today's market .

      Martin has fantastic budget models for sure. My first Martin was around $500 and was excellent.

    great video. My OMJM is number 604! It is an early '07. Your two must be '06 first year of production! Those are fetching probably closer to 5k now!

    Second time I’m watching this video, it’s great.. I’ve had one for a couple of years now and love it but I still think it’s BS they didn’t give it a full dovetail neck joint… the Brooke Ligerwood has dovetail and VTS top for $400 less than the OMJM

      I have both. THeyre completely different guitars, meant for different styles of play. The clapton is a fingerpicker. The mayer is a strummer.

    Love the video/ channel but I do disagree with one point. The OMJM uses a simple dove tail (which is cheaper/ easier for martin to manufacture). The OM28JM/ OM28/ OOO28EC all use a standard dove tail. For the premium up charge of the OMJM there isn't a reason other than cutting cost that a standard dove tail wasn't used.

    One of the features that this guitar has a very distinct orange wood on the top. Is that a specific model? When I search for the OMJM, I cant find any in that color. Why is that? Is that just pure age?

    • @cwillis
      @cwillis  9 месяцев назад

      Hi, yes it is due to age. Try to get one 2012 or older and it’s been played it should have an oranger top.

      Can totally understand, Martin and Fender don’t seem to have the same consistency as PRS. Some are definitely better than others.
      Edit; this can also be due to poor setups, humidity, strings etc.
