I have oily skin and the Nars foundation is really Matte BUT it’s not oil controlling at all. It just slides right off with any oil breakthrough . Not mask proof at allll, just melts right off like a dewy foundation . I feel like it’s a perfect matte foundation for dry-normal skin. It’s not long wearing for oily skin, it breaks down and separates quickly (when oil hits the surface ). I don’t have even super super oily skin but my skin oils just ate this foundation up. L’Oréal infallible matte foundation lasted way better for me
@emi nooo! They didn’t discontinue power play! Cover FX just stopped selling Sephora. You can still get the foundation. That foundation is better than the Nars when it comes to long wear but honestly I didn’t care for the finish too much
@emi . I felt like the cover fx still moved but Ester Lauder double wear doesn’t come off! It’s like paint but it can look very heavy since it sticks to the skin like paint. I don’t like double wear but it does last long

Hey Taylor. Korean brands don’t have a terrible shade range because they cater to Asian skin tones. They have a terrible shade range because their culture is a deeply colorist culture where the lighter the skin, the more desirable. I would really encourage any influencer to do their own research on K-beauty standards and decide for themselves if that aesthetic is something they want to promote. Wishing you all the best. ♥️
I was a bit sceptical about they Haley’s beauty drops, I didn’t usually wear foundation before but I’d use a bit of concealer over redness etc but I was finding it was looking dry and/or cakey with powder as my skin has been getting more finicky. The Haley’s beauty drops are the only thing I wear now! I do need to lighten it a bit with powder but it’s otherwise pretty much my perfect product
LOVE the new Purito Cica BB cream❣️❣️❣️ My new fave!!! Still like the Misha for mixing into other foundations though-but the Purito glides on like a dream!!! My almost 58 year old skin is LOVING it❣️👍🏼👏🏼

I'd like to mention that also in asia there are native people with pretty dark skin and asian beauty companies are just straight up racist. Not all asians are fair skinned. That's just their media trying to tell us otherwise.

So it makes sense that Korean brands cater to lighter skin tones. Of course I know they culturally have a preference for fair skin but it’s not exactly the same thing as racism
You just perfectly described the Philippines. Like seriously, colorism is a big issue here, and extends to something as minor as cosmetics. When it comes to foundation, our local cosmetics brands don't cater to the average Filipino who has medium or deep skin tones. Yes! Even medium skin tones are left out! Even though I have a light-medium tan complexion with warm-olive undertones, I still can't find a local foundation or BB cream that suits me! And I'm sure it's even worse for deeper skin tones because the colorism here is sooo bad! So frustrating! 🥴🥴🥴
@@rosie58843 I think, as in Europa for example, that korean cosmetic lines also sell outside of Korea. And I also think that there are Koreans who are darker than what their media shows us. Just that many try to avoid getting darker (and by darker I mean more-or-less not-white, because Korean foundations and bb creams are mostly available in 2 to 3 shades: white, whiteyellowish, and whitepigpink). But in general what I'm trying to say is, with all respect and love, that most people say ASIAN referring to Koreans, Chinese or Japanese people (from which I know for a fact, that Chinese and Japanese people can be quite dark skinned) and many ppl forget, that Asia includes countries like India, the Phillipines, Thailand and so many more ❤
@@rosie58843 fair skin is sought after, if you have darker skin many times you are encouraged to use skin bleaching products or seen as less than. This is why they only create lighter shades.
If you can find pigment drops you can darken & lighten any foundation. I know LA Girl has them and Physicians Formula as well. I can always adjust any of my foundations.

I can say, the new Purito is fantastic on oily skin! Super easy to touch up, especially w One Size loose powder. Looks brand new again after touch ups, soooo good!
i got the haleys from macys this past holiday for like $12 i believe. its the most unpowdery base product I have ever tried. finally a foundation that I feel comfortable wearing. the only downside is that when I apply my only concealer on top, it removes coverage instead of adding, very weird. ...
The nars soft matte was hard for me to adjust to I had to change up my routine for it. I loved it with a brush bc you need very little product and it’s fulllll coverage.
The WnW Tinted Hydrator is absolutely incredible. I can't believe it's not high end. And the coverage is so good! I have oily skin but it leaves a beautiful glow. Never buying another foundation haha jk but seriously it's that good imo 😁🥰
Agreed! It shocked me how good it is! I've worn it every day since I got it. Good coverage, but so natural at the same time. The incognito concealer goes really well with it as well.

The aquasurance foundation was a secret girl! 🤫 absolutely use it every time I wear makeup and everything you said ab it is absolutely the truth. I love it!
I used the Kokie foundation for my wedding in January and it lasted for 26 HOURS. I do not recommend wearing makeup that long but it lasted through tears, dancing, eating, masks, bars, pictures, and falling asleep. It is my favorite foundation and it looks beautiful all day and doesn’t melt off my oily face. 110% recommend.

Taylor, thanks for all your great info! Also, have you compared the "IT Cosmetics Celebration Foundation Illumination" to the "J. Cat Aquasurance Powder Foundation"? I started breaking out in acne all over my face (and, at 59, I've never had acne in my life)! I stopped using foundations many years ago because I didn't like that you could tell I had foundation on. That's what I'm aiming for; acne coverage with a completely "natural" (invisible, undetectable) look on my skin. Does this product exist? (I do have dryish skin). Thanks so much!

I have all of these except the 2 glowy ones, the Haleys and the VDL. I have oily mature skin. I basically try anything you recommend that looks natural and is long wearing. You never steer me wrong!!
I just used the Haleys Beauty BB drops (with the primer) for the first time today - I have oily skin, and it looks BOMB on me. I'm not suggesting it will work for all oily peeps, but it definitely works for me for some reason!
Found the purito BB cream on Amazon for under $10 and ordered it immediately after seeing this video and then Jessica Braun's review using it on your recommendation! Can't wait to put it on my face!

Warning about the VDL foundation. The VDL foundation is one of the most beautiful foundations I've ever tried and I have combo skin with texture. HOWEVER. There was a big dealbreaker for me. This foundation clogged my pores within a few hours. I looked at the ingredient list, and used skincarisma's ingredient checker. This formula has a ton of irritating ingredients. Don't buy this if your pores clog easily.
Thanks for letting me know. I wanted it so bad but now I don’t . Korean/Japanese brands tend to use a lot of irritating citrus and flowers oils/fragrances

The MUFE Reboot is amazing if you use the right moisturizer, primer, and application technique, and I was hoping that you would have tried it more. The new UD Hydromaniac is also fantastic with little to no fuss.

You should definitely try the YENSA BC foundation, seems like something that would work for your dry skin, and it’s a bb/cc cream with spf 40 and claims to be high coverage.

Yaaayyy I’m so glad there was a sneak peek/mention for the new Purito bb cream!! I do like the idea of it drying down a bit faster and not having a fragrance. I haven’t tried it yet myself but the original is truly my most reached for base product! The fragrance isn’t terrible, just smells really... soap like...🧼🤷🏻♀️ so I am excited to try the new purito formula. I do find that it applies well with a dry sponge, and it’s so buildable! I bought one bottle before it got discontinued 😫 it’s ALMOST empty but I’m still getting use out of it so it’s lasted me a good while, especially being my go-to/everyday product. I also tried the VDL perfecting last foundation and I do like it but I think my skin is on the drier side, particularly nose/forehead area so if anyone else is also on the dry side I would suggest a good moisturizer/spf/primer/etc before applying ☺️ Btw, I really LOVE your nails Taylor!!
I bought the vdl because you among others loved it and on its own on my skin it's like.. alright but not great but i mixed it with my favourite foundation, the smashbox studioskin and good lord it's amazing. Its the skinlike appearence of the smashbox with the longevity of the vdl; perfection.

Taylor, thanks for all your great info! Also, have you compared the "IT Cosmetics Celebration Foundation Illumination" to the "J. Cat Aquasurance Powder Foundation"? I started breaking out in acne all over my face (and, at 59, I've never had acne in my life)! I stopped using foundations many years ago because I didn't like that you could tell I had foundation on. That's what I'm aiming for; acne coverage with a completely "natural" (invisible, undetectable) look on my skin. Does this product exist? (I do have dryish skin). Thanks so much!
The Purito BB cream sounds right up my alley but I'm still sore about the whole SPF issue they had with the sunscreen I was using from them :(

I have all of these except the 2 glowy ones, the Haleys and the VDL. I have oily mature skin. I basically try anything you recommend that looks natural and is long wearing. You never steer me wrong!!
I just used the Haleys Beauty BB drops (with the primer) for the first time today - I have oily skin, and it looks BOMB on me. I'm not suggesting it will work for all oily peeps, but it definitely works for me for some reason!

Warning about the VDL foundation.
The VDL foundation is one of the most beautiful foundations I've ever tried and I have combo skin with texture. HOWEVER. There was a big dealbreaker for me. This foundation clogged my pores within a few hours. I looked at the ingredient list, and used skincarisma's ingredient checker. This formula has a ton of irritating ingredients. Don't buy this if your pores clog easily.
Thanks for letting me know. I wanted it so bad but now I don’t . Korean/Japanese brands tend to use a lot of irritating citrus and flowers oils/fragrances

Mac face and body is such a unique foundation. There’s nothing on the market with its texture except for the MUFE water blend. It’s so, SO good.
I thought for sure that you would have named a few more high end products like Estee Lauder Futurist Givenchy City Balm, and Urban Decay Stay Naked. The MUFE Reboot is amazing if you use the right moisturizer, primer, and application technique, and I was hoping that you would have tried it more. The new UD Hydromaniac is also fantastic with little to no fuss.

I think you mean to say, they cater the shades to East Asian skin tones. There are many brown and deep skin toned people in South and Southeast Asia!

You should definitely try the YENSA BC foundation, seems like something that would work for your dry skin, and it’s a bb/cc cream with spf 40 and claims to be high coverage.

Yaaayyy I’m so glad there was a sneak peek/mention for the new Purito bb cream!! I do like the idea of it drying down a bit faster and not having a fragrance. I haven’t tried it yet myself but the original is truly my most reached for base product! The fragrance isn’t terrible, just smells really... soap like...🧼🤷🏻♀️ so I am excited to try the new purito formula. I do find that it applies well with a dry sponge, and it’s so buildable! I bought one bottle before it got discontinued 😫 it’s ALMOST empty but I’m still getting use out of it so it’s lasted me a good while, especially being my go-to/everyday product. I also tried the VDL perfecting last foundation and I do like it but I think my skin is on the drier side, particularly nose/forehead area so if anyone else is also on the dry side I would suggest a good moisturizer/spf/primer/etc before applying ☺️

I bought the vdl because you among others loved it and on its own on my skin it's like.. alright but not great but i mixed it with my favourite foundation, the smashbox studioskin and good lord it's amazing. Its the skinlike appearence of the smashbox with the longevity of the vdl; perfection.
