It’s interesting that you mentioned Beverly Hills Cop and the music. The same composer did that movie and this movie-Harold Faltermeyer.

Chevy Chase is my favorite comedian of all time. Fletch and Fletch Lives are two of his best. I would also check out original Vacation, Funny Farm, and Seems Like Old Times.

"Why don't we go lay on the bed and I'll fill you in?"
Fun Fact: Gregory McDonald, the author of the Fletch novels, had casting approval over the film. He rejected both Mick Jagger and Burt Reynolds before he decided on Chevy Chase for the lead.
Location Location Fact: At the end of the movie, when Fletch hops over the fence and walks along the pool area to gain access to Alan Stanwyk's house, it is the same house used in The Godfather (1972) when movie director Jack Woltz (John Marley) finds the horse head in his bed.
Lost In Adaptation Fact: In the original novel, Chief Karlin and Alan Stanwyk were separate adversaries who were not working together. In the novel, Fletch broke the "drugs on the beach" story which resulted in an indictment against Chief Karlin. However, he had eluded arrest and was a fugitive by the end of the story. When Fletch confronts Stanwyk at his mansion about faking the cancer, it's discovered that Chief Karlin had followed Fletch there and shot Stanwyk from outside the house by accident. He was actually trying to kill Fletch. In the novel, as well as Gregory MacDonald's other Fletch stories, Fletch is sarcastic and jokey, just not as light-hearted as Chevy Chase's portrayal. In the books, he's much more cynical and mean-spirited in his humor.

Are you looking for movie suggestions? If so, let me make some animated suggestions:
      Wizards (1977)
      The Hobbit (1977)
      Heavy Metal (1981)
      The Last Unicorn (1982)
      The Flight Of Dragons (1982)
They are all very unique animated movies. They range from kids flicks to very adult.
All five are available to "buy" or "rent" here on the RUclips Movies channel, so there's no availability excuse.

There are some funny jokes with the names he chooses. Ted Nugent is a famous musician. When he says his name is Mr. Poon, poon was U.S. slang for vagina at the time, as in “I’m going to get drunk Friday night and find some poon.” Igor Stravinsky was a Russian composer.

This was a fun little movie, Lezy. I haven't seen it in a long time, but it's pure Chevy Chase with a lot of one-liners, and witty quips. Just about all of his movies are like this one. 🤗👍

Love to see people react to Old films, You should try watching European Films from 50-70s. Recommended Fellini, La Strada and so on. You’d love it.
